Autistic media!
Was referring to the fact they go to normal schools. What's so strange about that? If they can't function in a normal school, they don't go to a normal school. Makes a lot of sense to me. If someone really was at the point that they couldn't function in a normal school, they would go to a specific school for special needs. The idea that they do is… strange to me?
I once had an argument with a certain chap of the Argentine variety who had a great disdain of the word “American”.lol United Statesian

Anyway this topic is about Autistic media and I still haven't got around to watching “The Good Doctor”. Has anyone? Likely not.
Edit: Bones' Dr Temperance Brennan is still best character who may be autistic.

I'm the same. There's a few scenes that are… decent at best. The rest of it is a mixture of filler and poor writing trying to get you to emphasise with this very over-the-top representation of autism.I've seen it on TV a few times, absolutely cannot stand it. Not to mention that he's performing medical miracles like the second coming of Christ.

It's a shame. As much as I do love Bones, their representation does align with this view too. Although less on the social side. De Temperance Brennan is shown to have some difficulties in social situations but is far from unable to socialise. Watching her grow as a character is really rewarding too.it's the theme with autistic media, gotta make them an amazing savant who can't socialize.I'm the same. Wow that sounds terrible and yes I go to school and I actually don't have anything different done to/for me but that's more of a ignorance towards the existence of Autism and less of inclusivity.I don't really think it has a feel (Asperger here). Ok I’m just curious how does it feel to have autism? I know y’all are probably tired of answering this question sorrry
It's hard to describe. I have heightened emotions and not the one's that are nice. Heightened fear and “worry” are two. I wouldn't say anxiety, but when I do worry / fear something it is heightened a lot.
I overthink things to the point that I worry over nothing, and I can't help it. ‘Tis why I don’t have a fear of heights but if I feel there's any chance that I could die / get injured I'mma nope out of there real quick.
I used to find social interactions impossible until I just said “Heck it, what happens happens” and for some reason God blessed me with the miracle cure to my ailments and now I don't struggle to talk to people I don't know.
I'm probably the worst person you could ask that question because I just lucked out of lots of difficulties through time to the point it's almost as though I don't have it half the time…
I know I do because I was on medication for it for the longest time.
Thanks for trying to explain. I think I kinda know how it feels. Do you go to school? Kids with special needs at my school aren’t allowed to be a part of the normal classrooms, they’re kept separate and even are only allowed to eat lunch with everyone else twice a month.
I wonder why they do it. Maybe because they think the kids will be bullied?

To me autism helps my to understand how people work, because all autistic people have a certain interest that they are fixated on and mine is (kinda) phycology and it helps to understand peoples personalitys and doings more. Ok I’m just curious how does it feel to have autism? I know y’all are probably tired of answering this question sorrry
But its hard, it feels as if people are shouting all the time, and everyone and everything is collapsing on to you… i have aspergers and adhd and only told my friends about it 6 months ago and they totally understand it.

Honestly half of the characters in autistic media seem to belond on r/iamverysmart I wonder why they do it. Maybe because they think the kids will be bullied?
Most of us are fairly normal, but we have a very specific interest we excel within.
… do half of these shows even have someone with autism on the writing / production team?

My Mum's watched it and says it's pretty accurate from her experience working with autistic people (including myself), but I don't have any interest in watching it, primarily because I've heard that they only hired one person to do cross-checking for the writing on the show and said person is also affiliated with Autism Speaks. (This could all be hearsay, of course, so tell me if I've got this wrong.)Oh it’s AtypicalSay ittt There’s one show, I forgot what it’s called.
