Why doesn't Scratch let online games work anymore. They are really cool. Chat rooms yeah makes sense not to have them but online games? We should have them so why doesn't scratch let us play online games anymore?

To my knowledge, the Scratch Team has not banned the creation of online multiplayer games.

Any problems you see with online games could be a result of the coding in the game itself.

Most online projects that everyone loved to play (Scratcharia) can't be made because of the limitations.

Oh, yes, you must be referring to how cloud variables were restricted to 128 characters. This is necessary to avoid excessive use of cloud chat — I'm not sure what the Scratch Team could do to “fix” multiplayer games while not adding to the risk of private messaging.

I heard somewhere that they will be increasing the limit to 256 characters for Scratch 3.0, but I don't know if that's 100% true.

Oh good. So my cloud multiplayer should work.

@OP: Scratch prioritizes ease of moderation over capabilities of projects - it's a kid's website, and as such, it has to make sure those kids who use it won't be exposed to any potentially inappropriate content. The Scratch Team probably thought that the benefit (helping prevent unmoderated chatrooms with possibly inappropriate content) outweighed the cost (breaking a couple projects).
