Semi-support.

NFE projects are already pretty well-hidden, as they cannot get front-paged, and rarely appear in search results. Plus, Scratchers may get annoyed at this sometimes — there's some complicated stuff out there.

For instance, there are words that are considered not offensive in some countries that are considered offensive in other countries. For these words, the Scratch Team might mark the project NFE, considering that it would be a little unfair to the creator to unshare something that isn't even remotely inappropriate to them.

But I got hesitant even typing that out. You are right — Scratch IS for everyone. NFE projects sorta “divide” the community in the same way that a 13+ version of Scratch would, and that's a rejected suggestion. You have a good list of exceptions, and it is possible that the NFE tag should only be used for such projects.

Do you think projects like this should be added to the list of exceptions? https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/240628097/ This was tagged NFE because it almost seems like an “un-whitelisted” chat project, even though it's not.

This is my forum signature! On a forum post, it is okay for Scratchers to advertise in their forum signature. The signature is the stuff that shows up below the horizontal line on the post. It will show up on every post I make.

I was a Scratch Team member from May 10th 2019 to October 29th 2021.

It's not, so it shouldn't be NFE'd. And lag-inducing projects or projects that reduce computer performance should have a different categorization. (Read Exceptions, I edited it.)

No support. NFE projects are already well hidden. I don't want 80% of my projects removed just because they're not all rainbows and sunshine.

It's not exactly my fault or Scratch/the Scratch Team's fault that your project isn't for everyone… And no, nobody ever said that FE projects need to be all rainbows and sunshine. I see now, you make a lot of FNAF and horror projects. Technically not me/Scratch/the Scratch Team's fault that some people get scared…

Thing is, I don't generally make them scary, I just sometimes might want to include Freddy or something. You can have a FNaF related project that isn't scary at all. They only get NFE'd because the characters themselves come from a horror game. Not because the project is ACTUALLY scary. I don't want my projects removed because of some silly reason.

No support for removing NFE projects altogether. The whole reason NFE is in place is for projects that may have gotten out of line a little, but not enough for them to be removed. In fact, the stuff in NFE projects is the kind of stuff you'd see in PG-rated movies, which are often directed at children; or at least are okay for most kids to watch.
Semi-support for something that comes up when you view a project marked NFE for having performance issues, lag, etc. - maybe something that says “This project has some performance issues and/or lag and may not work, especially if you have a slow computer.”.

I say yes. But only projects that would be only appropriate for like teens or ADULTS should be catorgized as NFE. There are little kids on here, guys. Inappropriate projects are not OK!!

Do you have proper evidence that NFE-rated content would be rated PG by the ESRB?

Mentioning Freddy can make people remember of the 13+ game Five Nights at Freddy's, and we don't want little kids suddenly watching FNaF-related videos just because some Scratcher made them remember about FNaF. Sound silly to ya?

Oh yeah, and for the words that are offensive in some countries but are not in some other countries, then well it also divides the community in the same way that Google is for non-Chinese people.

Support (For the first half. I don't really think that the Scratch Team will add a new categorisation for projects at this point, also, hiding projects that severely slow down or crash your browser could help prevent schools from complaining about Scratch.)

Yes it is. Look here. That's for the FNaF movie. For those who know the movie (there's a chance little kids do), projects with FNaF characters can make them remember of the FNaF movie. And you don't want some mom banning Scratch off a toddler's browser just because you made an FNaF game.

No support Partial support for removing NFE projects, but support for “May Reduce Computer Performance.”
Just because a project is rated NFE, it doesn't need to be removed. An NFE project can vary from a little use of mild profanity in a song to extremely inappropriate artwork or derogatory messages. The former can stay, but the latter should be removed. Besides, NFE projects do not show up in search results. But also, who would test how laggy a project is? A project may lag on a MacBook Pro, as well as on a $300 Chromebook, so what would be considered a “slow” computer?

Scratch is for everyone, so if there's a project that's not meant to be seen by everyone, it divides the community into “People Who Are Allowed To See NFE Projects” and “People Who Are Not Allowed To See NFE Projects”. Scratch isn't a place that's meant to promote discrimination. NFE projects don't show up on search results, yes, but let's say griffpatch made one. A whole lot of people would see that. And let's say some guy spammed links of that project on a lot of popular profiles. A whole lot of people would see that.
