Would it be offensive to use the term "goy"?

If so, scratch is pretty antisemitic.

Is the term generally used as an insult or something similar? If not it’s probably fine

Just looked up the definition. It appears that it is a word used by Jewish people to refer to non-Jewish people. Is that correct?

I'd be extremely careful about using it. Whenever you use the word, be very sure that you are using it purely as a neutral term, rather than some sort of insult. It sounds to me like the term itself is not inherently offensive, but perhaps saying “non-Jewish person” gets the same point across without any risk of offending people.

I'd ask a Scratch Team member, just to be sure — perhaps via the “Contact Us” link at the bottom of the website.

However, if they say that the word is not okay to use, I wouldn't go so far as to say Scratch is antisemitic. Recall that some words that are completely fine to say in some regions, or for some people, can be regarded as offensive to other people.

If Za-Chary is correct on the definition, I'd say it depends on how it's used. I've never heard this term before, so I wouldn't know.
If the term is generally used as an insult/derogatory term, I'd say it's probably not okay to use. If it's not used as an insult/derogatory term and it's basically just like saying “atheist” or “American person”, you could possibly use it, although I suppose it could potentially come off as offensive to some so I think some may prefer you just say “Non-Jewish person”.

I've heard the term before, It's not used as derogatory, just a word for non-jewish. Kind of like how cis is to trans or straight is to gay.

lol

Anyways, it might be confused for “gay”, and if “goy” is used in certain sentences, it could become bad. Maybe try to use a different word.
