Resize the Scratch 3.0 Project editor to 640x480 instead of 480x360

Scratch editor is really small for everyone who doesn't use vector, and even sometimes for people who do. I personally feel that in this day and age the editor should atleast be 640x480. Most small images are usually put around there, and 1280x1024, not 1024x768, is one of the most common resolutions today, and could easily handle it.

Absolute 100% support, Although it might make the projects larger on the server.

Support, this would be useful as an artist, but wouldn't this cause issues with the current bitmap sprites/backgrounds?

No, as they'd either be left at the same size and centered or rescaled. Or even it could be an alternate resolution setting.

I was thinking it would just be “legacy projects”, so old projects appear the same but newer ones have a bigger player. Remixing will just center everything.

These days 16:9 or 16:10 would make more sense than 4:3 or 5:4.

Support for some higher resolution, although there would have to be a 480x360 compatibility mode for old projects.

Or just upscaled.

I agree with this, it may ruin older projects. Maybe a message that says “Legacy” or “Old style” or even “480x360”.

I'd support it if it can be toggled, since I can see where it can be a nice feature.

No support if it's permanent, because it would mess up a lot of older projects.

Not exaclty, X and Y would just get a boost. Older projects would just either run in center or “legacy mode”. Would be toggleable for a new project. Remixing a legacy project would leave it 480x360.

No support, most people using scratch are students, using old and cheap technology, (removed by moderator - please keep it polite) so they can't use scratch with that resolution.

Again, it would be an option. Plus, almost all screens can fit 640x480 in under a quarter of the screen. The most common resolution AFAIK is 1366x768 and 640x480 is under a quarter of that.

The most common resolution for new laptops 12“ and over is 1366x768.
Entry level netbooks, 11” and under (that you find at schools) often have resolutions of 1024x768 or even 1024x576.

Yes, but you can toggle it and for most schools (with Chromebooks that are now starting to become better and cheaper than netbooks) they have 1366x768. If a school is using 11" netbooks they probably aren't using Scratch.

There should be an options tag next to all projects where you can change it from 480x360 all the way to (optional) 1920x1080 instead. Defaultly however it should be 480x360.

1080 is too big, some cheap school provided chromebooks aren't even that resolution.

Its the size of the stage, most laptops are way bigger than that. no matter how rich you are, as long as you have a laptop, it can support it.
