Users will follow you if they like your projects, they like you, and they'd like to keep up with what you're doing.

The most simple way is to make lots of good projects. It's why people follow you. First you need to get views on your projects. You should find some sticky guides here https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/8/ Another great way is to comment and such on other people projects, a lot of the time they will look at your profile and look at your projects. If they like what you see they will follow you. You can also be active in the community, be in studios or use the forums. There is lots of ways.

Your projects don't have to be too complicated. Some nice art and music in the background will probably get you followers!

Yeah I Agree f4f isn't good.

my recommendation is to get yourself known, get active with the scratch community, make good projects, its not bad to get a follower that is friends with you but may not like your projects,

You can get followers by creating projects, answering questions, and helping around the site hope this was helpful

You can get followers by people favoriting and/or loving your projects, if people want to see your most recent projects, and by helping out a lot through out scratch, such as by helping out with forum questions.
