I've been to China twice and have used Scratch there.

Now it's 2017 and I want to know if Scratch is now blocked. I'm going to spend most of my summer in China, due to family obligations.

NOTE: Don't tell me to use VPNs. They're now illegal in China.

I don't think so, I've seen users who seem to live there although I can't remember any specifically.

I'm trying to find some Chinese users who are active now. This user was active 1 week ago, so you can safely assume it's not blocked.

Nope. I don't think it will be on the blacklist.

However, one nice thing is that you can use an experimental version of the search engine which is not blocked. (yay!)

Don't think so, otherwise, why would these be a Chinese fourm? If it IS blocked, just download the offline editor before going there.

Not all Chinese speakers live in China.

There will be a huge Scratch Conference in Shanghai this year. It would make no sense to host a public conference about an illegal program. So basically, no, it is not blocked. The search function is blocked though, because it uses Google, and Google is blocked.

By the way, if you happen to speak Chinese, check out the Chinese forum sometime.

We don't put ads in our posts; those are just our signatures. You can make one yourself by scrolling to the bottom of the Discuss page and clicking “Change your signature”.

And yes, the search is blocked but Scratch itself is not.

I have no idea, I'm not chinese and I have not enough money to travel here, and probably my government will make travelling to communist countries illegal.
But I really doubt it, because they have no reason to block it. It's a kid-friendly website.
The only reason is because the rules here allow things that are illegal in some countries, like communist symbols or anti-country propaganda.
