Scratch Resolution Upgrade?

The limits of the Scratch viewer are 480x360 right now. This does not allow me to post high-resolution images, so I'm stuck with 360p and lower. I get frustrated with this small resolution, and I wanted to know if the Scratch Team could give us a higher resolution for Scratch 3.0, for example 480p. 480p is just slightly larger than 360p, but since it's more pixels we could have up to 640 X pixels and 480 Y pixels, instead of the current 480 X and 360 Y. 720p would be even better (960 X and 720 Y) but 480p would be fine. If you're concerned about the Scratch viewer taking up too much space, I don't know anyone who is using a monitor with a resolution smaller than 800x600 (which can support 480p perfectly)

Scratch's aspect ratio is currently 4:3 (fullscreen) but also 16:9 (widescreen) would help.

Here are the resolutions that we could upgrade to:

OK/ DECENT UPGRADES-
16:9 360p (640x360)- Scratch's resolution but just a bit wider.
4:3 480p (640x480)- Slightly higher than Scratch's current resolution.
16:9 480p (853x480)- Slightly larger than Scratch's current resolution, and a bit wider than the native resolution of DVD.

BETTER UPGRADES-
4:3 720p (960x720)- Really big resolution, almost hitting the extremes.
16:9 720p (1280x720)- Pretty much the peak resolution you could get to before losing a bunch of scratchers.

Good news! Your suggestion for a resolution change will be in effect in Scratch 3.0. That is waiting at least another 4 months to do so though… <

If you want more information about that, please see this wiki article here- https://wiki.scratch.mit.edu/wiki/Scratch_3.0#Upcoming_Features

It means that CCPlymJoe likes your idea. However - you should say a reason why you like the idea instead of just saying “Support.”

Does anyone know how to set higher resolution in scratch?

Somebody actually did a 16:9 mod for Scratch 2.0. Since Scratch 3's code for setting up the stage size, it's probably not too hard to make a mod for yourself. The only issue is that your projects wouldn't work in normal Scratch.

As far as I know, when Scratch 2.0 was still here, since it used Flash it’s resolution can be upgraded. All you had to do was zoom in the browser. With a custom zoom extension you can get finer zoom options, my favorite being 134 percent, which is a 640x480 resolution. However, I don’t think this same method works for 3.0. If anything, going into full screen on a project set the resolution as high as the vertical edges of your browser/monitor in 2.0. I would still support this though, since these things probably don’t work on 3.0 (again)

Actually the last 2 should be the least scratch should do, because rendering stuff is painful otherwise. Earlier I did send a message to scratch and I hope they read it. If they do 1440 by 1080 or 1920 by 1080 would be perfect.

About the 16:9 thing, YES TOTALLY. There is almost no 4:3 things in existance being used. However, to avoid breaking older projects, mabey a toggle?
