ILLUMINATE is a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure game currently under development by the Story Mages. (The team) It takes place in a fantasy world, where a protagonist girl undergoes a quest to collect crystal fragments of the sun's core to restore hope, light, and peace to the land.

YAAAAYYYYYYYYYY!!!! (okay, I'm done being loud and rude now.)

Hmmmm…..so far I'm liking most the idea of fantasy or futuristic. I think the whole pollution thing sounds very fascinating. Maybe humans made some sort of science in the future that accidentally destroyed the sun or something???
As for fantasy……perhaps dark creatures come to the world and inhabit it, turning the world dark.They rule over the world, until a special girl comes to save the world. ??
Or what about if evil is visible, and when people sin, dark mist appears. Eventually the sun was blocked out, but this girl makes the decision of choosing good. ??


Anyways, that's some beginning ideas.

I like the futuristic idea. If we use pollution, not only will we make the game exciting, but we will help raise awareness about the Earth. Then we can make ‘creatures’ that were caused from radiation and nuclear and all those bad stuff, which threaten to take over the world. I'm kinda going with sci-fi I guess, with the pollution blocking the sun and pollution creating new creatures. Maybe the creatures are afraid of light? Something like that.

This is going to be so fun!

As for me, I like the fantasy one. Well, the sci-fi doesn't seem too bad, but I think I'll be easier to make a game with fantasy though, because we don't need to explain too much in the beginning of the project about what happened. Also, the art in the project looked more fantasy-like to me.
Maybe- how ‘bout this?: there’s two groups of people where the girl lives: bright side and the dark side. They had a big war, where the girl lost all her family. And finally, the dark side got control of the bright side. She was given a riddle that was to help her bring back the light. She was chosen for the riddle because she was thought to be trustworthy, with her loosing all her family in the war???

Though the idea of pollution sounds interesting, too!

Ooh, those sound really good! I particularly like the last two a lot. Some brainstorming questions: How would the special girl be different? What is her motivation? Does she have any special powers, or are her main defining traits shown by what she has inside? Just trying to get the ball rolling.
I'm so sorry for not being on! I just got back from camp, so I have another week that I can work on this. This has started off really well, and everyone has such amazing ideas!

Nice! I agree, it would be cool to have a double meaning of the story by raising awareness about pollution and such. The ‘creatures’ are also an awesome touch, because the radiation and such would make for a reasonable explanation as to why we have them. Hmm… maybe if the creatures are exposed to enough light, they will either die/return to their original state? If they were returning to their original state, perhaps that would mean they used to be animals. Maybe it could even be possible for humans to be affected… tell me what you think!
As a side note, I'd like to apologize for not being on! I was off at camp, but now I should be able to be back on here often for the next week or so. I agree, this is going to be a lot of fun, and I'm pleased to say it has started off really well!

Fascinating! Wow, everyone has such amazing ideas!! Okay, some brainstorming questions: How did the war start? Was the girl involved in her family's death? (Witnessed it, accidentally caused it?) What exactly would the riddle lead to? (If this is fantasy, I think it would be cool if the sun actually did disappear, and maybe someone is hiding it, magically, of course.) Can you make a list of everyone's ideas and then we can vote?

Alright guys, here's the vote! Everyone, put your first, second, and third choice in order. (Try to be open to other people's suggestions!) I love all of these ideas so much, so it's really hard for me to choose.

Suggested Ideas:
A: Sci-fi futuristic world where pollution has covered the earth, making it almost impossible for light to come through. Dark creatures were created through pollution/nuclear exposure, and evade light for some reason.
B: Dark creatures from outer space come and inhabit our world, (perhaps forcing humans to go into hiding) and will stay until the humans find a way to drive them off
C: In a fantasy world, evil is able to be seen, (like some kind of black mist?) as well as good. Humans make so many horrible and evil choices that eventually the sun's rays are blocked by the dark cloud above. In the chaos, one girl will save them by choosing good.
D: A war of good and evil took place, killing off a girl's parents. When evil won, the girl was given a riddle to bring back the light/goodness of the world.
E: In a fantasy world, the universe works differently. The sun is basically a giant crystal filled with light, and the world is filled with strange creatures, plants, and different cultures. One day the sun is broken by the evil side, and fragments of the sun crystal fly across the world. A single girl is given the quest of finding these fragments to return the light, save the world, and find repentance for a past misdeed.
