Okay then! We should probably post the link in the storyline forum, just so everyone knows this is open for people on the team.

Ok. We need to figure out where our story starts before we can write any questions.

-ILLUMINATE- Choose-your-own-adventure options and results

Credit to the other Story Mages. Right now, I'm attempting to pull everything together, add more passages, and make the story into a choose your own adventure.

1. And So it Begins

There are bags under your eyes. As you walk, each step makes you a little more awake. You try to forget the dream, as you have every single morning, but the little boy’s face remains in your head. Up above, the stars twinkle without a care in the world, stuck in an endless night.

As you head down the dirt road, you suddenly hear a cry from the woods! And just as suddenly, it’s cut off. You know someone’s in trouble.

Do you…

Run into the woods to help. Go to 2

Or

Keep walking and pretend nothing happened. It’s not your problem, after all. Go to 3
2. Into the Woods

Without missing a beat, you turn and sprint into the woods, trying to pinpoint where you thought the voice was. It’s so dark you can barely see where you’re going, and you trip and fall multiple times. Cursing the lost sun, you finally stumble into a strange clearing.

The area is swathed in moonlight, revealing a tall stone structure in its center. And upon the flat top is an old man, bound and gagged. Your immediate impulse is to run and free him, but a small alarm goes off in the back of your head. Ever since the Breaking, when the Sun shattered into a thousand crystal pieces, strange beasts and creatures have taken over the land. Only by cunning wit have you so far managed to avoid them.

You have a choice. Do you…

Climb up the stone and free the old man. Go to 5

Or

Scout the perimeter of the clearing. Go to 6

Or

Go back the way you came from.
Go to 7

3. Ignorance is not Bliss

You keep walking and pretend nothing happened. It’s not your problem, after all. As you continue on, you notice that everything is abnormally quiet, as if nature was holding it’s breath. Out of the corner of your eye, you notice something glinting on the corner of the road.

You kneel down, and upon closer inspection, you realize it’s a spear head. You look quizzically at it’s strange markings. A bird chirps somewhere. A muffled footstep. You turn too late, and the last thing you see is a leering, green face as you fall into an even deeper darkness.

Continue to 4.

4. Goblins

When you finally wake up, there’s a bag over your head and your arms are tied back with strong rope. Immediately you start to panic. You struggle to remember what happened… and then you see the green face in your mind’s eye. A sinking feeling starts in your stomach. Goblins.

Goblins: Squat, green creatures that travel in packs. Intelligent creatures, they have weapons (usually spears) and a hierarchy system. The leader is usually the most powerful, and can be challenged for his position. Goblins speak mostly in grunts, and while they are mainly vegetarians, they are known to mug and steal from humans.

After struggling for a little bit, you manage to free your hands from the bonds, and carefully work the bag off your head. As you take in the campfire and strange tents made out of leaves, you realize you’re in the goblin’s campsite.

Goblin sentries stand around the area, though they seem unaware that you’ve freed yourself. You know it won’t last long, however.

Do you………

Make a run for it past the sentries. Go to 8

Stay where you are Go to 9

5. Compassion
You investigate more closely. The man is frail and thin, signs of malnourishment written across his body. He has milky blue eyes and tanned, leathery skin. He wears the clothes of a farmer, grey trousers, and pale yellow shirt, and has mud splattered on his trousers and under his fingernails. His breathing is slow and heavy, and he seems to be quite il, and has several open wounds. You reach for your satchel and uncork your canteen, holding it to his lips. He visibly relaxes and croaks out a tangible “Thank you”. Staring at him, weighing your odds, you ask slowly “Who are you? Which side are you on?” He whispers "I'm not working for them, if that's what your asking. He seems genuine. You silently pray that it's not a trap and gently untie him. He nods his gratitude, and quietly speaks. “We must go around the goblins. I'll show you the route to avoid them.”

Do you…..

Believe the old man and follow him. Go to undecided

or

Take precautions to avoid a trap, and ignore him Go to undecided

6. Caution
You glance around the clearing. There's a couple of gnarled oaks, some tall grass, and a smattering of smooth, grey, rocks. A flash of red catches your eyes. Upon a couple of the stones are splatters of crimson blood. It seems fresh, as the color is still bright and the drops are not yet dried Looking around nearby, you see two sets of medium-sized, narrow foot prints, one shoeless and the other not, and a scrap of black cloth caught on a thorn.

8. Your Satchel
You glance around, making sure you remain unobserved. You quietly scramble to your feet and look around. You spot your satchel nearby, slung over the branches of a gnarled oak tree. You see two goblins sitting directly underneath the tree, both chatting amicably and slurping bowls of stew. You can't understand what they're saying, but it seems to be just light chatter. You could sneak over to the side of the tree opposite them and climb up, but you run a high risk of being caught. More goblins are scattered around the camp, and although not paying you much attention now, they could look in your direction any second,

Retrieving it would be extremely dangerous, but it holds much practical and sentimental value. The contents of your satchel include a canteen of fresh water, a letter from your late brother, an iron key, a small velvet pouch of coins, a seemingly blank scroll, a small bottle of a clear substance, and a loaf of bread wrapped in a cloth napkin.

Do you…..

Keep running Go to undecided

or

Or attempt to take back your satchel Go to undecided

9. Freedom
Soon enough, a set of goblin sentries strides toward you. They don't notice that the bag is now hanging loosely over your head, no longer secured around your body, and that the ropes that once bound your hands are now merely resting upon your wrists. They grab you roughly, and escort you around a half mile away from their campsite. Shoving you to the ground, they turn and walk away, leaving you sprawled on the cold dirt.

Goblins are not particularly barbaric creatures. They are greedy, lack morals, and unceremoniously steal and mug, but they prefer not to kill. They do, however, have your satchel.
You think for a while. There is a clear set of footprints, and it would be easy to find the campsite again, but it's extremely risky.

Do you…..

Race back to the campsite and attempt to reclaim your belongings Go to undecided

Or

Take precautions to avoid a trap, and ignore himGo to undecided
