Scratch 3.0

I just want something faster than flash so I can have more fun making it crash.

Did you know you're not allowed to share projects that crash scratch?

Scratch is being designed with a new halting problem technique. So, it can't be crashed. Sorry.

There are dinosaurs in the Sprite Library and Costume Library here.

???

What do you even mean? The halting problem is both unsolvable and irrelevant to whether a Scratch program will crash.

Would there be any merit to creating a new Scratch 3.0 forum topic? At 212 pages, I'm starting to really feel the page loads slowing down. I'd be happy to make a new topic, but an ST member would probably need to close this topic and leave a link to the new one.

No I mean that none of the sprites will show even the cat at the beginning…

A little heads up for those who want to know:
Scratch 3.0 is slower when your computer is handling heavy workloads as opposed to Scratch 2.0

At least, on my test. I opened both Scratch versions at the same time, both offline (2.0 Offline Editor and a saved HTML copy of 3.0 Preview) and online (2.0 Project Editor and a live 3.0 Preview). When Scratch 2.0 is opened altogether with 3.0 and both are given tasks to create an 3D illusion sprite, 3.0 struggles when 2.0 is open but performs better than 2.0 when it performs alone.

Yup! We are aware. There are some tasks that Scratch 3.0 is already much faster at than Scratch 2.0, but in general resource utilization and some overall performance work still remains to be done. We completed a bunch of performance optimizations on the VM over the past few months and will be continuing (and prioritizing reducing overall resource utilization) in March.
That would be great! Does this mean using pen would later have less impact on performance?

I went to look closer into detail on both Scratch editors and it seems that 3.0 is struggling with image clarity (even if they're both vector images, and even if 2.0 is a bitmap image), it's much more obvious when you press full screen. Is this being fixed at this point? Is there changes to 3.0 that will break projects? Will those changes break workaround scripts, or even hacked blocks?

Also, non-related question at this point: Will 3.0 fix the GIF Thumbnail hack? Is there any rules regarding the use of GIF Thumbnails, and is there going to be custom GIF/non-GIF Thumbnails to replace GIF Thumbnail hack?

I made a edit for the custom block editor.

Sorry for my bad editing skills.

Does anyone know my problem? Please for some reasons sprites don't show at all! Does anyone know how to fix it or does it happen to them?

Why is the block padding so ridiculously large? It's wayyy bigger than needed.

We've already complained about this, and suggested having a different block size for mouse or touch users. They responded by (temporarily?) making the blocks 10% smaller.

In order to make Scratch 3.0 work well on tablets, we needed to make the blocks bigger, so that it’s easier to drag and tap the blocks.

Ah, yes, appeal to a part of the fanbase that doesn't even exist yet while alienating the largest part of it. Perfect plan.

Just make it toggleable, Scratch.
