The Third Person method: When using this method, you are telling the story of your character one action at a time from a third person point of view.
Example: Cody walked through the hall, and into the dorm room.

This is the standard in most RP's. As such I don't feel it's necessary to have the others. If you disagree I'll include them, though.
OH… I was wondering why I hadn't seen you around much… Hey 16! It would be awesome if you just included all of them.

I'll also point out that some people build characters specifically to counter specific characters. Usually these characters do not work well alone and would be very OP if they were to work with who they were designed to counter. Only experienced RP'ers or desperate ones should try to make a character specifically to counter another character.

Ok.

EDIT: I'll update the FP when I get back to my other account… the disadvantages of switching.

I use the Narrative method… It is basically the Third Person method, just with more detail. It is called the Narrative Method because you aren't really your character, you are telling his/her story.

My point-of-view on RPing:

If you've got different factions/groups/etc. they should have colors for each group. For example, in a RP with an evil group, their colors could be red, black, and white. This will identify the group and its members. For a good group, you could use happier colors, such as a green, with some pink and gold interplayed. I preferably use call signs if the user's character is in the same group, and your group/faction/troop/squadron leader has approved your call sign.

A Beginner's Guide to RP's

Walked out of the house. I'm going to be late for school, I said to myself. Got in car and drove across the road. I didn't see Mary and ran over her and killed her. I have to go now for dinner I'll be back in 10 minutes!
Has one more problem:

You don't know if the last sentence is part of the story or a note. Make it distinct by putting parentheses around it (not recommended) or putting it on a new line.

I am starting a collaboration, and I want it to be based off of a RP, and the RP is for where the people view it and choose who they want to be in the animation. But how do I ask people to ask?

Okay, correct me if I'm wrong, but you're trying to have a collaborative animation, the contents of which will depend on the RP, right? And there will be a set character list, that people who join the collaboration will take a character from and be responsible for RPing.

Essentially you should make a new topic in this collaboration forum, and title it something appealing. Use the name of your RP/animation, and put something like {Looking for Members!} next to it in order to get people to click on it.

If you want, feel free to use the examples I provide below.

The first part of your first post should be an explanation that it is an animation collaboration based around the events of an RP. Explain that anyone who wants to collaborate will have to RP (unless they don't, in which case say that). For example:
Hi! This is a collaboration in which we will make an animation. The story behind this animation will be based around an RP – as such, if you want to join the collaboration you will be responsible for choosing and RPing as a character. We want artists, musicians and voice actors – if you can do any of these your help would be greatly appreciated! I truly hope we can make this animation super great.

Then, talk about the background behind your RP animation. A form of prologue to a story, for example, like maybe:
Deep under the sea is the ancient, sunken city of Atlantis. The residents of Atlantis have adapted to live underwater with gills, and have been living in secrecy for centuries.
A government underwater exploration team has recently been conducting surveys on the seafloor, but their submarine has experienced major problems. They would have drowned if not for the nearby residents of Atlantis… and so the story begins.
Basically it sets the story for the animation and RP.

Then, you'd have a list of who you need in the collaboration. This may include artists, sound/musicians, voice actors, maybe even a programmer. Specify how many.
Have an application form, something like this:
Username:
Position wanted:
Activity (how often you're on Scratch):
Experience:
Character wanted:
In the Character Wanted section, the person

Lastly, have a list of characters, preferably in a quote box to make it look good. Color code or otherwise design the character descriptions to show whether they've been taken or not. You can write the character descriptions entirely yourself, or have people decide on various points when they choose them. For example, using the above storyline:
Italics are taken.

(First, your character, probably the main character)

Jonathan Morrison (Taken by myself)
Male
The brave leader of the exploratory team.
Personality: brave, commanding, loyal
Appearance: blond hair, tall, brown eyes

(And then the others that are up for grabs)
Dr. Rachel Chang
Female
The science and medical specialist on the team.
Personality: (you can decide)
Appearance: black/brown ponytail, glasses, short

Justin Quinn
Male
The pilot and navigator of the team.
Personality: humorous, mischievous, confident
Appearance: (you can decide)

Argus Atlantica
Male
The king of Atlantis.
Personality: serious, emotionless, commanding, oppressive
Appearance: (you can decide)

Then post it! Advertise in your signature. Also, if no one responds to it after a day or so, you can bump it by just replying ‘Bump!’.

Hope this helped.

The colors would be developed by the nature of the group.

They'd probably be displayed on uniforms, and other items that each member of the group would have. (ex. a jetpack)
