Vector text lag
When typing text in vector, the editor always lags really badly for me. It gets quite annoying sometimes. It occurs in pretty much all my projects with vector text, like this one and this one. It never seems to occur when typing in bitmap (although I don't use bitmap very much).
My browser / operating system: Windows 8.1, Chrome 45.0.2454.93, Flash 18.0 (release 0)

Vector text lag
Ikr. Once I tried typing a paragraph in the costume editor in vector and it took about 5 seconds to render at the end That's why I usually type it in Notepad, then I copy it, then paste it in Scratch.

I try to do that, but it gets annoying when trying to make sure that none of the text goes off of the screen. Ikr. That is a problem that I do experience, but it saves rather than having to type it all on the laggy vector editor. I try to do that, but it gets annoying when trying to make sure that none of the text goes off of the screen.

Vector text lag
Several months later I am having the same problem. Typing in text in vector causes unacceptable lag.
My browser / operating system: Windows NT 10.0, Chrome 47.0.2526.111, Flash 20.0 (release 0)
I see we both use Chrome. That may be part of the problem.
Bump.
(I found a dupe of this here, but it's closed for some reason.)
EDIT: Another note, this only really occurs when editing the background in vector mode.

Vector text lag
It's happening to me right now. Same circumstances as you guys. for me it almost never happens. Heck, this is only the second time I can remember this happening. But I can't tell if this is a problem on my end or Scratch's. I've cleared my cache and restarted my computer with no luck.

Vector text lag
(EDIT: Hmmmm… hadn't noticed the original date on this… Still, the issue remains unfixed, so the new topic recently created by Epsilon388 is effectively a dup of this -though I do think the title of that is more descriptive of the problem.)
Yeah, this can be a bit irritating – it happens when you've pasted a bitmap image into the vector costume
What I tend to do is to type it all out in a different costume (one without a pasted bitmap image), arrange/size the text (pretty much) how I want it, and then copy/paste the text item into the original costume.
I suspect we're not likely to see a fix until Scratch 3.0…

I've experienced that problem quite a few times! I thought it was just my computer. I guess not.

Hey, thanks man! I'll try that if it's still giving me problems.
Also sorry about the dupe.

Vector text lag
It is because you are typing it over a bitmap image. This is glitchy and happens with most vector tools used over a bitmap image.

For me it's only happening in Bitmap, on the sparkle background. Nowhere else is it happening..

Vector text lag
The “sparkling” background in the library (I'm assuming that's what you mean) is vector. It contains several layers of large bitmap images (the white sparkles, smaller red blobs, larger red blobs, and the red gradient background), which is why it's so bad… For me it's only happening in Bitmap, on the sparkle background. Nowhere else is it happening..
One way to reduce the problem a bit (apart from my suggestion before of building the text in a different backdrop before you copy/paste it where you want it) would be to convert the backdrop to bitmap, so it ‘merges’ all the image layers into one, and then convert back to vector (so you can add smoothed text). It'll still be fairly slow when you type, but probably having only one bitmap image in there will be better than having four.

Vector text lag
This topic is 4 years old lol. Anyways I think it has to do with text shapes being complicated, since vector is made with mathematical equations. And bitmap overlay lags it even more. Someone close this.

think [this is dead]
