Yellow Light of Death. Google it up.What is YLOD? I had a PS2 ever since launch and I've never got an error screen.

It usually means that there is a malfunctioning component (or the system has overheated).
If it is a component problem, good luck trying to get your date off the hard drive. You can't even access the recovery menu because when you turn the PS3 on, you get the YLOD and it shuts itself off.

its normally the heat paste that tranfers the heat from the cpu/gpu to the heat sink that causes it,
I managed to get my 60gb fat working again after redoing the paste and it lasted long enough to do a data transfer onto a ps3 slim.
It died again last month after 5-6 months of life playing the occasional ps2/ps1 game…
I havent been bothered to fix it yet.
LongTerm Scratcher.
I pop in every now and then.
Add me on Steam (muppetds) if you need me straightaway.

I'm confused - why would anyone need a topic for an obscure hardware fault in a games console that's older than most of the forum users?

#1 because many Scratchers got a PlayStation 2(it was sold 13 years,2000-2013) and probabilly have got one time RSOD.
#2 because my topic subjects are most of the time REALLY RANDOM.
And yes…….its not so useful if you are not really bored.

Yep,i watched the reversed version of it and its like you are going out of hell Wow, never saw that before. Mainly because I used my PS2 for games rather than movies.
It's like you're entering hell or something.

I NEVER even got a RSOD. BTW, I don't even HAVE a PS2! (Except Dez has a PS2, a Wii, a Wii U, and a DSi.) I only have a Wii U, a Wii, a DS, a 3DS, and an XBOX 360 Kinect. *Invents the PS5 coming in May 2017 with controller keyboard and scariest RSOD ever. *
