I will admit they are rather similar in design, but they have enough differences to allow Capcom to put him in.

So we just got mika, a highly requested character. Who should be next? Top 5 are:

1. Remy (I want to find out more about my favorite character and delve deeper into his moveset)
2. Karin (Same reasons as everyone else)
3. Adon (If Vega's confirmed, that means Sagat is too, which means Adon is.)
4. Guile (Cos his theme goes with everything…Nah, jk, cause nash is in, so guile might be in too)
5. A new character (maybe a new French fighter if Remy's not confirmed)

Personally, I think that reason is far from preventing that crossover from ever happening. If they can remove blood and gore for Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, why not here?
