The Ludum Dare competition is BACK! I know we got a decent amount of participants last time, who's in for this one? It takes place on the weekend of August 23-26. The theme is still to be determined, voting will go up until the start of the compo.

Ha! Nice reminder for me to write mine as well, but I'm not quite the poet you are.
I've gotta get OnSchedule finished if I want to meet my deadline. Hopefully I can have everything ready by L.D., but the state I'm in and the state I expected to be in at the beginning of the summer could not be farther apart.

Yep! Ludum Dare is an event that happens a couple times every year. Lots of game developers, proffessional and amateur lock themselves in a room (slight exaggeration there ) for a weekend to create a game. There are two seperate events that happen at the same time. The competition, or “compo” starts on friday night and lasts 48 hours. There is also a “jam” session that gives you an extra 24 hours and has some other relaxed rules, such as the ability to work as a group. On the friday night of the beginning, a theme is announced, which people have voted on for the previous week. Then, it's off to work. On sunday night the competition developers upload their games, and soon after voting begins until there is an eventual winner. Jam participants can upload any time up until monday night.

Also what does Slaughter do? does it add an even worse vote or does it take the theme out of the thing entirely?

I usually end up doing the Compo. It all started the first time when I realized “hey, I still have time to make the compo” and continued the next time when I planned on the compo.

Compo for me. I like the shorter time limit.

I finished last time well within the time limit though, I should be more ambitious

Someone gimme a theme, I don't know what to do for the warmup

I don't have time for a warm up! I have work on OnSchedule and procrastination of OnSchedule to do! (Currently in the form of Civ5)
Edit: If I can keep my computer from overheating itself, that is… It's getting in the upper 90s. o_o
