Never noticed this. I always thought it was a solid color, something like ivory or cream.Same.

Speckle Scratch With Gray, Not Pink.
I have a question: did anybody actually download the image other than me?
The image is speckled with varying shades of pink and grey.
I then created an image (http://i.cubeupload.com/e8W9M1.png) that had only gray speckles, and it doesn't look too different, aside from the fact that my image tiles horribly and you can see the edges of each tile.

well this topic certainly turned into a “color of the dress” debate reincarnation. Whatever color is dotting the background of the editor, just keep it because it's doing no one harm.

For a start, the background has an average colour of beige, not gray. Secondly, this should be almost completely un-noticable on displays with accurate 24 bit colour reproduction. The texture is there to give it a paper-like look it seems - gray would seem unnatural. The beige is a bit easier to see if you look at the white comment boxes, and then the background behind. See it?
I did try this by replacing the background with one with saturation:0 using inspect element, and it removes some of the charm from the design, if even just the slightest bit.

OK, so any suggestions other than gray? The non supporters don't like it because it would look unnatural. However, I think the pink is still obvious and not how it should look either.
So, perhaps a very light orange? Anything else??
Thanks supporters of gray… what do you think about orange or another color (hopefully lighter and less noticeable than this pink btw)?

(sorry for the 3 in a row posting, but, I have to quote…)
It is not the pixels. Then it would be happening symmetrically and all of the dots would be spaced out evenly. And besides, if you look at it far enough from the screen, it would be more of a pinkish color.
And plus, they are not happening uniformly, Scroll up and down slowly and look closely, they are moving in different places.

oh man the bg texture annoys me to no end because I can see the pattern by noticing an area of negative space in the shape of a right triangle
but anyways back to things that dont make me sound like a madman
I also agree with making it grey/monochrome, the slight pinkish reddish doesn't really fit with the theme.

No support, it's pixels.everything on your screen is pixels man
like, theres no movement, just changing colors of pixels
the problem is the texture, not that your screen has terrible color consistency within the pixels

I noticed that several days ago. It just looked like a corkboard to me. But then I was like, “Hey, what? Scratch is supposed to have a white background, right?” Then I forgot about it almost entirely until this post. Why would they change it? I bet only a select few notice, and it was put there to make the site look better… I mean, it's not unheard of to change a design, but the Scratch Team has limited time and resources. What looks like a corkboard background is probably not a concern to them. You know?

I'M INDIFFERENT, (oops caps) I only notice it when I tilt my laptop screen so it is facing the ceiling. Weird, Huh?

I never noticed this until you brought it up.
I don't think anyone else (besides the current supporters; I'm talking about the common people of Scratch) would care or even notice.
No support.
