about me.

⟡ hey! my name is shire (though i also go by owen) and i'm applying for the beautiful hollow! there will be more about hollow herself a bit later in the application, but for now i’ll give myself the pleasure of a little egotism and yap about myself. i am fueled entirely by the power of will wood, vocaloid, and the crane wives.
my hobbies include writing, roleplaying, drawing, writing, roleplaying, and drawing! and did i mention writing, roleplaying, and drawing? i also like to think way too much about fictional characters. drools. i love fictional characters. apologies for the incredibly informal introduction ^^”

⟡ hollowkit is absolutely stunning! rue’s design and drawing is so beautiful the idea of the stars (and by extension, the gaps between them) is realy interesting and alows for a lot of metaphor. i had the idea of someone who basically objectifies themselves almost immediately after seeing her (though it took me a while to get it on the page ^^”).


character history.
⟡ present
・in tfcrp, i have gossamerhex, though i’m sadly not very active with her. i went on hiatus pretty soon after recieving the character and have been unable to regain my motivation for her :’(
・ in generations, i have sonata! sonata is truly my son. light of my life tiny itty bitty boyfailure oh my god i love him so much i want to spin him around like a record baby spin him right round right round like a record ba- anyways, i love sonata a lot. he means the world to me :> baby boy.

⟡ past
・i have not had any previous tfcrp characters!
・i’ve had two generations characters before sonata, being sunsymphony and pitcherpour. they’re both very important to me and i love them i killed pitcherpour off due to hiatus, though i’m very active with her in the afterlife and it’s still having character development. sunsymphony lived to 100 moons before passing away of old age.

・she/it/hei/bell/lamb/any nounself pronouns, paragirl.
・ this application uses she/it, for hollowkit will begin to experience with neopronouns after kithood.
・hollowkit will be sapphic and apothiflux, meaning that its repulsion to romance fluxuates.

⟡ friendly . hollowkit is the first to greet a new arrival, the first to offer up her prey, and the first to share her hunting tips. it’s almost robotic, the way it’s always prepared to make a new friend. the whole world is filled with new opportunities for relationships, and hollowkit refuses to let a single one slip by.
⟡ generous . what belongs to hollowkit belongs to everyone. those hollowkit considers friends will receive all manner of gifts, whether they be in the form of a mouse or a private show, a song and dance written simply for those cherished by the actor.
⟡ aspiring . hollowkit sees the world as a stage, and it is the star. the spotlight is her dearest ally and closest confidant. she has been brought upon this earth to put on a show, and it’ll be * it it doesn’t do it the best she can.
⟡ charismatic . being an actor requires some talent with other people, and hollowkit has that in spades. she tends to draw other people towards it, and it will do its best to capitalize on these capabilities. a loyal group of fans is the greatest thing a feline of the stage could have.

⟡ goofy . to bring a smile to another’s face is to be liked by another, and hollow needs to be liked! she /needs/ it! hollowkit’s existence relies on being seen as entertaining, and if jokes and jests are a means to that end, she’ll make them as often as possible.
⟡ entertaining . a smile, a laugh, applause- each and every one of these things fuel the fire of motivation within hollowkit’s heart. everything is an opportunity to gather a crowd or try on a new mask; to let such an opportunity slip away would be the ultimate failure! go on, cheer for it. it needs you to.
⟡ dominating . lace is the star of the show! the spotlight follows /her/! she knows what’s best for everyone, obviously. it’s foolish for other people to try to take control when there’s already someone infinitely more capable able to lead!

negatives.
⟡ egotistical . it’s not hubris if you’re right, is it? and of /course/ hollowkit’s right! how could she not be? she’s the world’s greatest actor, it has to be! hollowkit views herself as the pinnacle of her craft, as the greatest showcat that will ever walk upon the stage of the earth! to view itself as anything but would not be humility, it would be a staggering display of idiocy.
⟡ insecure . self-confidence and showmanship is simply a mask the actor wears to disguise its true form. if she’s being honest, hollowkit simply feels that who she really is will never be good enough. everything about its carefully crafted personality is there to disguise whatever ugliness lies beneath. if they see the /rea/ hollowkit, they’ll leave, and that can’t happen.
⟡ insincere . a lot of hollowkit’s good deeds are simply for show. maybe one day it’ll be able to be genuine in it’s acts of kindness, but for now, she is nothing but a character, a smiling mask hiding a scowl.
⟡ self-sacrificing . oh, but hollowkit’s a good person, she really is! to be seen as the good person it so, so, desperately wants to be, hollowkit will give up everything. put her body on the altar, it’ll be the sacrificial lamb you so, so, desperately need! her own needs weren’t really all that important. it’ll prioritize the pleasures of others before it’s own necesities.

why is hollowkit… like /that/?
⟡ heart is no warrior, that’s for certain. no amount of training from mars could make this bundle of fluff into anything more than a meat shield. if only she were perfect, if only she were good enough, maybe it would be loved. going from one distant parent to another certainly didn’t help. hollowkit doesn’t understand love as anything more than praise. she is not praised; it is not loved. that is how the performer was born. the idea of its name being cheered, the idea of having people want to see /her,/ she needs it. fame and love are no different in the mnd of the actor, and if she needs a mask to be loved, so be it. as long as you’ll love it.

⟡ the only cat i’ve ever offed was pitcherpour, and i’m still active with them. i don’t plan to ever end any of my cats; pitcherpour’s death was a circumstance i don’t plan to repeat.

dynamics & trivia

・personal beliefs —
⟡ attention, good or bad, is the ultimate reward for the actor. though she would much rather be loved than hated, at the end of the day, any press is good press. she expreses all of her emotions in the most dramatic way it can. maybe it looks like a faker; isn’t that what all actors are? proffesional liars? hollow lies in order to be loved. it has no identity apart from the stage, so it is unimportant if it is unloved. every other cat has intrinsic value, but hollowkit does not. she must make its own worth.

・love —
⟡ love is praise. love is worship. this distorted view of care results in a cat unable to give affection beyond superficial compliments. hollowkit doesn’t understand this feeling! that’s how other people are supposed to feel about it, not how she’s supposed to feel about other people! so hollowkit gives those she loves what she thinks it would want. it doesn’t know what love is, but she’s trying. she’s trying her best.

・hate —
⟡ what is hate? a crowd booing is a crowd nonetheless. the greatest way to show distaste is not anger, but ignorance. alas, hollowkit cannot bring herself to ignore someone. fi she ignores them, it’ll be ignored in return, and it cannot live with that. thus, ros shows her hatred in overexaggerated performance. a show laced with vitriol is a show nonetheless, and who would hollowkit be if she let an opportunity to perform pass by?

❝ i must be a daughter worth loving.

・home —
⟡ home is where the heart is, and hollowkit’s heart is in the crowd. hollowkit’s heart belongs to others more than it belongs to herself. first its heart was in the paws of mars, who forced it to grow thorns. hollowkit has a place to live, in thunderclan, but it lacks a home. does that mean she also lacks a heart?

・goathearth —
⟡ goathearth originally inspires the artist in lace's heart, so when he grows distant, that is hollowkit's first solution. she must not be a good enough actor, a good enough singer or poet. hollow will through its entire being into a better mask and present itself as the perfect child. she was loved and praised at first, and yet she is no longer. it has failed.


❝ if i am not perfect, i am unworthy.

・morality —
⟡ morality is a complicated thing for hollowkit. it is not being good that concerns her, rather it is being percieved as good that holds value. its kind acts are empty, devoid of the care and the feeling that would make a soul truly moral. but it is good enough, yes? she is good enough for having smiled and nodded, without truly caring about what she was listening to?

・death & afterlife —
⟡ starclan is a natural thing to be worshipped. hollowkit is the stars, after all. it is natural for her to worship something with such a connection to her. it is the place of the good, and laplace has been good. she has been not just good, but the best she could possibly be. the afterlife is a natural conclusion, the simplest way to close the curtains. hollow avoids further thought of the afterlife not because it is disinterested; because it is afraid that if it does too much reflection, she will find that she is not deserving of the good afterlife.

・religion —
⟡. ros has belief, though it lacks faith. to it, religion is nothing but the hubbub of a disinterested crowd. devotion is a form of love, not a method to connect to the powers that be. if laplace takes any form in religion, she is the lamb, the martyr. it is her blood on the alter, at least that’s what it would like to believe. it will be useful and she will be remembered, is that not enough? why does hollowkit want to be the object of devotion, if it is so moral to be the sacrifice?


❝ i am nothing but other’s opinions on me.

・themself —
⟡ who is lace, really? her existence relies entirely on the validation of others. she is a shapeshifter, one who wears many masks, in order to be loved. behind the mask, is there anything there? or is it nothing but a deep, dark hole, desperate to be hidden? hollowkit is too afraid of the latter to ever try to find out. its identity is nothing but a disguise.

・name symbolisms —
⟡ hollow. what an apt description. that’s all she really is, isn’t it? she is hollow, she is empty, and it has nothing left but a void in her soul. it needs to fill this void with praise, with love, or else hollowkit shall be empty forever.

・appearance symbolisms —
⟡ though at first, heart appears to be the stars, her pelt is mostly the color of the gaps between them. perhaps that is why it is so desperate to shine bright. it is nothing more than the antithesis of what she was meant to represent.

⟡ symbols & metaphors

・the sacrificial lamb . the sacrificial lamb represents hollowkit’s overwhelming desire to be useful. some part of her has abandoned all hope of being loved without being sacrificed, so martyrdom is its method of coping with the void of uselessness it feels. sometimes, laplace wishes she was the god. it is selfish to wish that people would bow to /you/, that there would be sacrifices in /your/ honor, but hollowkit likes to indulge in those thoughts. her only value is in others’ opinions of it, so it is natural to turn to fantasies of unconditional love.

・the actor . just as the world is an altar, the world is a stage. ros has grown addicted to the high of a cheering crowd. it tastes like the sweet juices of catmint; now that she has tasted it, she will spend the remainder of its life searching for that feeling. hollowkit doesn’t mind wearing a mask if it gets the cheers to be even a bit louder- isn’t that what mars wanted for her? for it to be a warrior worthy of praise? perhaps her skills as a fighter will never be up to par, but it can put on a show. as long as its mask never slips, the audience will be none the wiser.

❝ the god and its sacrifice: self-sacrifice comes easily to the sacrifice. the god is a cat who has captivated hollow’s attention, someone who loves conditionally but deeply. laplace will grow addicted to the god’s praise, pushing itself to its limits in order for a single drop of reciprocated interest.
❝ the chorus: though she will never admit it, hollow needs some support. she needs some felines at her back to hype her up, to make it want to keep going. this loyal crowd is allowed to share the spotlight with hollowkit, and she is so unbelievably grateful for their support. perhaps the kindness it shows them is not as fake as the others.
❝ behind the mask: this cat, likely a romantic partner, is able to see past hollow’s facade. they do not require a sacrifice in order to share their love. lace will not accept this love at first, and perhaps she never will, but its presence is beautiful nonetheless.
