Hello, so recently there has been an uptick in topics here asking for a username change. These topics are often met with answers saying you can't, however, that is false. sort of. While you can't change your username through Account Settings normally, you may change it by contacting the Scratch Team directly. However, you can only do it if it meets at least one of the following criteria:

• It contains personal information, such as your name or birth year
  
• It contains a gender or religion that you do not align with anymore
  
• It contains a word that was previously OK but is now considered unkind
  

If it does not meet the criteria, your request will be unfortunately denied.
If it does meet the criteria, you can press the button below. in the form, set the “I am a…” dropdown to “Scratcher”, then set the “I need help with” dropdown to “My Account or My Students' Accounts” then the “Topic” dropdown to “Changing my Username”. Then just fill out the rest of the form with the info needed. The big “Description” area should be the reason you are changing it. The response definitely won't be immediate, but you should get one eventually.


P.S: when they say “Scratch Name” they mean username.

I like the topic, it is detailed and more descriptive than most normal forum posts, I do wish that it had an example of a filled out Contact Us form, and maybe a note that Contact Us often takes time. Otherwise, great topic! (Probably gonna get closed though…)

Alright, added the note.

I'd think it reasonable for this topic to be stickied, there are a lot of username change questions at the moment, and this would help answer those.

Yeah, as the more stickies there are the less likely people will read them.
