They could be - but remember, topics here are supposed to be about things that you find inspiring, care deeply about, and really want to share. That's why we really like to see a well-framed first post saying what you find inspiring about the book/video/game that you want to discuss - and a good opening paragraph to start the discussion. If it's too shallow, it will likely lead to a lot of spammyness and probably get closed.

For most things, you can discuss it by avoiding discussion of any adult parts. But some franchises are banned entirely because it'd be impossible to discuss them without mentioning adult topics. For example, the Simpsons has a topic, even though there are some jokes in the show that are too adult for Scratch
