Actually, that's a good idea! Whenever the wiki is entirely renovated, or there are enough Dutch people that use the wiki, then it can go back to the subdomain.

dutch flag to celebrate the dutch wiki is not gonna be deleted

Sorry if this is offtopic, but i made a prototype version of what could potentially be the homepage. Please keep in mind that the final version will probably not the same is this one.

So, if we were to do this, here is the content that could be imported:

• Content pages and their talk pages
  
• Project pages, i.e. pages in the “Dutch Scratch-Wiki” namespace, and their talk pages (though as of right now, these would be imported with the prefix “Nld:Nederlands Scratch-Wiki:” or something similar)
  
• Files (i.e., images), their pages, and their talk pages
  
• Interface customizations and their talk pages
  
• Templates and their talk pages
  
• Categories and their talk pages
  
• Past revisions of all of the above, including past file versions
  

This content cannot be imported, but can at least be exported and uploaded as a single file somewhere:

• User pages and user talk pages (their corresponding users can't be imported)
  
• Help pages and their talk pages (the Test wiki's help pages supersede these)
  
• Log entries such as deletion logs, user creation logs, etc., if not also recorded in a dummy page revision (these wouldn't make any sense in the Test wiki context)
  

This content cannot even be exported and will be forever lost:

• User accounts, because Dutch wiki users have not passed the Test wiki account request process. This means that if a user named “Example” on the Dutch wiki made an edit, and Example does not have a Test wiki account, their edit will be credited to “nlwiki>Example”. However, if Example does already have a Test wiki account, the edit will be credited to their Test wiki account.
  
• User data like passwords, emails, preferences, watchlist settings, bot passwords, etc.
  
• Client-side data like cookies
  
• Current* page protection information (all pages will become editable by all Test wiki users)
  
• Current* user group information (Dutch wiki admins, who also have Test wiki accounts, will not become Test wiki admins)
  
• Current* block information (users blocked on the Dutch wiki, who also have Test wiki accounts, will not be blocked on the Test wiki)
  
• Anything not listed in the first of these three lists
  

* Although current data cannot be exported, the data as of the time of the export can be reconstructed from the exported log entries.

Yes, but we should warn anyone on the Dutch wiki (with the exception inactive people on Scratch) that their accounts and userpages might get reset/removed when the wiki is transferred. We should also inform them about this topic/post or that they need to sign up for the Test Wiki to continue working on the Dutch SW.

I like the idea very much, but it is sad that some things just can't be transferred over.

I mean you could just export the user accounts and with a sql trick add a (nlwiki) in front of their username

This doesn't work because a) just because you had a Dutch wiki account doesn't mean you get a Test wiki account, since the Test wiki has a stricter account request process; and b) MediaWiki does not provide functionality to “export the user accounts”, and trying to do anything with the underlying database on a scale like this results in broken behavior on the MediaWiki side, so a bare SQL export/import doesn't work either.
