weekly 4!

SWonderlandC
Cohesive story

To begin, you need to write about a world where everything is opposite. Maybe the salty things are sweet? Or people speak backwards? It’s up to you, so long as it’s 300 words.

You’re on a journey. A journey through treacherous paths and dangerous creeks, unfamiliar land and dangerous cliffsides. Your first destination is the small island of Knightisle.

On Knightisle, many of the inhabitants never tell the truth, and it makes talking to people quite a bit harder. Actually, you can sometimes tell who tells the truth and who lies. Normal people like policemen and families always lie, of course. And then the misbehaving young children who haven’t learned otherwise will sometimes tell the truth. An unforgivable fault if anyone else had done that, but people usually try to forgive young children, when they don’t know otherwise.

Anyway, you’re travelling down a faded and dusty path, when you are stopped on the path by a woman in a dark police uniform.

“Excuse me,” she asks in her nasally voice. “Where are you going?”

“I’m only passing through Knightisle. I’m a traveller, and I’m documenting the cultures I meet along the way. Who are you?”

“I’m a postman,” she says, staring up at you from underneath her police-issue hat, thumbs hooked into the pockets of her navy police-issue trousers, foot tapping on the ground with the thick soles of her police-issue boots. A postman.

You nod weakly. “Of course. A… postman. I see.” Evidently, you haven’t got used to the customs of Knightisle, but that’s okay. You’ve still got weeks left in your journey through the country, which should prove enough time to write up a draft of the Knightisle section of your next book.

After an awkward silence, in which the both of you stare at each other (the police officer slash postman turns out to be very good at a staring competition), you shuffle past her and scurry down the dusty path, in search of the next innocent stranger to interview. Or the next police officer postman to stop you.

Gryphons, dragons, unicorns… they’re all legendary creatures. For this task, you need to introduce a dragon (or any mythical animal) into your world for 400 words. How do they interact with your characters? What effect do they have on the story? That’s up to you… only, remember to write it in script.

The sky is dark and swirling with storm clouds on the horizon. Between the protagonist and their destination lies a jagged ridge of cliffs and mountains, their dangerous peaks jutting out from the ground and creating stark silhouettes in the night sky.

A small shape moves on the cliffside.

THE PROTAGONIST: Did anyone else see that?
ADVENTURER 1: See what? Did you see anything?
ADVENTURER 2: No, not me!

The protagonist seems to pause for a moment, before realising that they have since left Knightisle, and so they don’t need to puzzle over whether or not the adventurers are lying or not. Of course, they still could be. But it’s unlikely.

THE PROTAGONIST: Watch the cliffside, right there.

The protagonist points at the mountains, where a small yellow shape shifts. A distant roar.

A 1: What was that?
A 2: Yeah! Did you hear that? What did you get us into now?
T P: Hey! How is any of this my fault? It was you guys who didn’t listen to me when I said there was a dragon. Now look at what we have to deal with now!
A 1: Well hold your horses! Or hold your dragons! See what I did there? Hahahaha!
A 2: Ahahahahaha!
T P: Um. Haha?
A 1: Anyway, what I was saying is that we don’t have to “deal” with the dragon at all! As long as we ask it nicely, all will be fine and dandy! Everyone knows dragons can’t hurt us humans, anyway.
A 2: Yeah! What she said!

The Protagonist appears visibly confused, narrowing their brow and fidgeting with their tools tucked into their belt.

T P: And… you’re sure about that?
A 1: Positive!
A 2: One hundred percent! One hundred and one, actually!

The protagonist nods slowly, the unease slightly lifting from their expression, but not entirely. It seems to go against everything they’ve been taught in the past and learned from poring over fantasy novels in the past, where dragons were evil foes to be slain at the blade of the mighty warrior. But perhaps, in this country, dragons coexist with humans.

T P: (To themselves) Yes… this is a good thing to write about… I’m sure I can describe the dragon in tantalising detail, the shine of the light on its scales and the length of its sharp teeth. And how it looked ferocious and terrifying but let us slip by with a stare from its beady black eyes. Yes… I can already feel this becoming a bestseller…

Take a break! For this prompt, you need to spend 30 minutes away from a screen. Do some crafts, draw something, read or do something outside! Then when you come back, you need to write the next prompt on paper.
Did some origami with a friend!

Time is a silly little thing. Sometimes it flies and other times it can drag its feet in the muck. Change your pacing drastically for this prompt. Whether that be describing every intricate detail down to the chipped nail polish on their index finger or providing a basic description of events, it’s your choice, but make sure you write 200 words of prose for this task!

The cliffside turns out to be a difficult place to scale, each nook and crack on the cliff wall only millimetres thick and offering no space to hold onto or stand on. The cliff paths are few and far between, but looking up at the dangerously vertical walls, you wonder whether it would be quicker — and far safer — to take the long way around, forgo the crumbling handholds for good, old fashioned steps under your feet. Really, who thought it was a good idea to start walking vertically, with hands and legs? What went wrong with walking horizontally?

Coming back down isn’t bad, mainly since you only managed to climb around two feet up before getting stuck. So, a quick leap off the cliff wall and a cloud of dust later, you find yourself back on the path, staring back at the adventurers and brushing your hands on your trousers.

“Come on. We’re heading the other way.”

The two of them don’t seem to have any objections, which is good for you, since you wouldn't be looking forward to finding your way around here by yourself. This country, Mountainlia, has the odd quirk of not marking their maps very well. Perhaps it’s the fact that it’s a very small country, so they don’t really need maps. But it’s rather annoying for you when none of the massive mountains are marked out, for example.

You head off along the stony path, leaving the treacherous cliff faces behind you and setting off on the winding path.

(254 words)

Wonderland is a magical place full of mischief and enchantments, is it not? For this activity, a curse or spell has been placed on your character. Your task is to write the curse or spell using poetry for 200 words. Maybe the incantation will be lifted… or not!

i place on you a curse
of loss and forgetfulness.
you will lose
every item you hold dear
to your heart and to your soul.

Hey, what am I supposed to do
about that? Try to remember
how to escape this curse? You haven’t
even told me why you’re cursing me;
surely there’s a reason!

your belongings will find
their way to me, i
will collect the lost and
unwanted, and at the end
i might also collect you.

Why me though? Or do
you just enjoy targeting the
innocent travellers, those
unaware of your tricks and your
curses.

i need to collect the lost. i need
to collect all of them, to gather
all those without a home, to
sweep them all into my
arms and deliver them to

Hey, wait. Stop. Why me? I could
have interviewed you, I could
have helped you face whatever
you think means you must
curse and curse

our saviour, mother earth
who will descend upon us to collect
the most faithful and the hardest
working subjects

People like me, random adventurers
like… wait, what were their names
again? Where did they go?
You didn’t capture them
and curse them too?

An arrow nocks.
A bow string snaps.
A crystal pendant shatters.
The spell is lifted.

(213 words)

Main character this, main character that. But what about our side characters? Let’s be real, they’re always our favourites in the end ;D For this task, write 400 words in another character’s perspective.

Jessica sighs in relief as the arrow flies loose, strikes on target at the tiny gemstone hanging from the sorcerer's belt. The paths here are well travelled, enough to make it full of prime targets, but not well travelled enough to make it too busy for criminals to get away with their crimes.

She fastens her quiver and runs over, after chasing off the sorcerer with some well aimed warning shots and a draw of her longsword. There’s always one way to deal with intruders, that’s for sure. And Jessica is pretty good at doing that, even if she says so herself. It’s pretty necessary, to be an adventurer.

The mysterious traveller dusts themselves off and rubs at their temples, shaking away the last of the curse. It’s not the worst curse Jessica has seen travelling — she’s personally experienced worse — but still pretty unpleasant to get out of, and dangerous if you’re caught in it alone. That’s why she never travels without at least one partner, and the more, the better.

She’s learned a lot of this the hard way. She hadn’t even wanted to be an adventurer in the first place, but when her parents lost their jobs, it was up to her to find a ludicrous job at short notice, and that just so happened to be a mercenary mission. There, she fell in love with the energy, the intense physicality of adventuring, the new sights to see and people to meet, and she never looked back at her old job. It’s a good change, a new change, one where nothing is the same all the time. Jessica loves variety.

“Are you okay?” she asks the traveller.

“Mmm… yes. Where’s my notebook?”

“Here.” Jessica spots the green cover amidst the grass and grabs it, handing it over to the traveller. “What have you got in there?”

“My notes. I’m an author. I’m writing about my travels.”

“Hey, that sounds cool!” Jessica smiles. In another life, maybe she would have been an author. She’d always had a passion for writing, won a couple of competitions. But she didn’t stick to it for long enough, and by then it was too late and she had already become an adventurer. It’s not easy to break out back into writing, unless if you’re this traveller, she supposes.

“Well, that sounds really cool. I wish you luck:”

The rest of the journey is spent in relative silence — the other adventurer had split paths from them a while ago so now it is just the two of them, walking alongside each other and keeping an eye out for any dangers. They make a good team.

(441 words)

Eat me? You can’t eat something if it hasn’t been made yet! For this task, you need to either bake or cook something of your choice. Step away from the screen for a bit, and do some flavour experimenting, rest, recuperate and be ready for the next task with a snack.

At some point, every great adventure must come to an end. Now it’s time to bring your story to a close with an ending of 500 words that leaves your readers smiling, wondering, or dreaming long after they’ve finished reading.

You keep journeying, through the mountains and over to the other side, with Jessica and then without her as she continues to her destination, somewhere different to you, a completely different world and a completely different path.

You’ll only ever see these people once. It’s pure coincidence that you even meet specific people in the first place, just luck and being and the right place in the right time. A momentary meeting, a converging of paths, just to split off again, diverging away.

You’ll remember these people. Some are engraved into your memory and immortalised in your ink, stories written to regale the reader and wow the explorer. Most exist somewhere in your memory, and you revisit them every now and again, recall some of the memories, have a conversation with them in your head. Each time, they get fuzzier and unclearer, wondering who is this, are they really the person I met or are they just me, myself making up their likeness in a puppet controlled by me? Of course, the answer is the latter. But it’s nice to think, just for a second, that your paths converge again.

Your pen scratches against the rough paper as you kneel at the side of the road. Inspiration has struck you, an idea for the next sentence, a great metaphor, a new technique. Ink stained fingers leaf through thin pages of scrawled and sprawling handwriting. Memories of Knightisle, of the dragon, of the curse, of the adventurers you journeyed for so long yet such a short time together.

Their story ends here, for you. But for them, their stories stretch on and on ahead of them, only you can't see it, You can’t see aby of them, and they can't see you, and perhaps there’s something beautiful about that. You don’t need them here with you anymore, because now they travel with you. Now, they are you; They are you and you are them and you have absorbed a bit of everybody into your character, be that the way you talk, your manners of speech, the way they always crossed their hands before sitting down or the way they never walking over three drains but always two.

Their stories carry on. They grow older, create a family, grow older, die. Some of them get to see grandchildren and great grandchildren. Some of them die before that, anything from a freak accident to old age. Their paths have diverged from you but they still exist, just like everyone elses’ paths. Just like your path.

How will you travel the next time you visit? What would you really want to say? Nothing. you think. You’re happy as you are, happy to let things go in the past and embrace things in the future. You’re happy. You’re chasing after your dreams. You’re an author.

You finish writing the final sentences in your journal and close it with a snap and a click of a pen lid popping into place. “Alright. We can do this.”

Written for this daily: “Have you ever listened to or read about fairytales or folklore? In most cases, many of these stories have wholesome endings, such as Cinderella ultimately finding happiness after escaping her evil stepmother. But what if we change that? Today, you'll be retelling a fairytale with a plot twist of your own - perhaps instead of finding a lover, Cinderella finds happiness in taking revenge on her stepmother! Write 500 words for 450 points, and earn an additional 250 points for sharing proof.”

Behind his eyes.

A coruscating display overwhelmed the hall, casting streaks of silvers which compounded into a flood of light: electricity delightfully arcing up the walls and spilling into a myriad of colours along the floor, as the jovial jives uplifted a shackle on the best of the light.

Belle leaned closer into the Beast's chest, their waltz unbroken by her gesture. They were closer now. They were lovers now, and by the time the clock would strike… Belle's chest was tight with a longing that the Beast's torment would unravel. Finally, his curse would be lifted. Finally, his misfortune would fall away.

(And with him, she was so happy). She felt the steady drumming of his heartbeat as he held her—her own form breaking into a spin, her golden-yellow gown catching the light resplendently, refracting all eyes to her brilliance—and the heartbeat that followed her along had not been relaxed. He was giddy and zealous and welled with excitement: so overwrought with joy that it made his blood roar in his ears.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

Her heels hit the dance floor. He followed along with the poise of a royal that he could never truly forget. His large hands held her chiffon glove with a gentleness that rivalled his gestures of affection, and his eyes-… The epitome of care. She was the one woman keeping him alive, and to have her by his side made him the happiest beast of the century. His mind was rife with glee and relief and a complex adoration that had confused him at first—but she only taught him that it was the one thing he had wanted.

Belle was pulled into the Beast's grasp again by the thrumming of the music. His heart ran faster now—as did hers, and yet—her lifelong experience being caring and careful told Belle that following the Beast was not the next right thing. She looked into his gaze with an unwavering, strengthening, devoted cadence of reassurance. That she loved him, and she wouldn't dare seek a path otherwise.

Tick. Tick. Tick.

The hour was almost here.

Tick. Tick. Tick.

Time froze. A vortex of light deluged the entire room in a cataclysm of sparks and beams that almost blinded Belle from every one of them, whether it was him or whether it was Lumière or Cogsworth or Mrs Potts or anyone—

Then, as the fractals of bright hues fell away, everyone was back as they were. Everyone was human just like her—a dream she had only visualised, that brought an overwhelming trembling to her eyes as she saw them all. Sunlight forced its way through into the walls, doubling the vivacity so tremendously it was like an aureate sea had splintered their view.

A year of longing and wishing and wanting was all over. It ended in a colour-pop that was never before seen.

…

Her beast was no longer a beast. Belle looked into her lover's eyes, and the sight of what she saw stole her breath away.

All she could mouth was three short words:

“Darn. You're ugly.”

Dear Tiger,

Ah ok it's Biana was slightly confuddled at first (saw this word somewhere online, basically “confused” and “befuddled” and now I use it when I have the chance lol ).

Hold up noo I meant I like ice cream and cake, just not chocolate-flavored ice cream and chocolate cake…. A nice popsicle is really cool, especially on a hot day. And yeah, I love talking about food too all the time lol. What are your favorite savory foods? I like dumplings, spaghetti marinara, pizza, and most foods hehe.

Thanks for the good luck wish I also sometimes want to bash the piano in past times. Betrayal to team cats is reall XD I just finished photography camp (ended last week), and I took many pictures of dogs - not me who asked people walking their dogs outside, a courageous classmate by the way heh - and two of them came out so good… We got to print 20 of our best pictures, and I have 2 dog pics and 1 cat pic T-T… yeah idk if that made sense.

kinda confused what you meant here:
Yes it is, and then later it feels so satisfying when you've got everything under control and understand everything! Woah cool, how did you go on them?

Thanks <33 I managed to finish all the weeklies and a few dailies so hopefully that helped enough I really hope I stay too… Agreed, Scratch is fun and important! Although now I've been getting distracted by *ahem* (kinda things I should not be focusing on incoming) d****** and Tumblr… Yeah.

Well, as previously mentioned, membership was terminated when Scratch got the cat code blocks and cat profile ears - Basically, I had a membership badge on my profile, access to exclusive (not anymore) sprites and also cat ears. So basically everyone now except for the membership badge, which no one can access now.

oooh pop… Any specific artists? And I also don't know what to rant now so imma go bye… Hear from you soon!

Your penpal,
Lazuli

Hii Lune!!! Here's a critique As always, all of these are suggestions (and none of them have to be used, if you'd like) <3 I'll try my best to not come off as too harsh!

About Me
Most days, you can find me in the EST/EDT timezones,
Personally, I think “timezones” would look better with the s, but I think either would work!

Reading has been a part of my life for pretty much as long as I can remember— from the first Harry Potter books to Project Hail Mary and Six of Crows, I've always loved immersing myself in the pages of a book. My all-time favorite series is The Hunger Games, but some of my other favorites include anything by Andy Weir, Divergent, Wings of Fire, The Lunar Chronicles, and the Heartstopper graphic novel series!

The sentences in this paragraph are a little long, perhaps break them up into one or two smaller sentences? Run on sentences don't flow as well

With my passion for reading came a passion for writing— the feeling of delving into worlds, whether fantastical or ordinary, of your own creation is a kind of joy that will never get old.

Hmm, maybe break that sentence up and add some more about writing? What do you enjoy writing about? Are you a planner or pantster, or both? etc.

Overall, your About Me is a great section! There were a few sentences that felt a little long - which can make it harder on the reader, but other than that it's excellent in my opinion <3

Past Experience

If you have any other experience in other scratch camps, I will also highly recommend mentioning them! You wouldn't need to go into as much detail as you did for swc, so you could just do a brief mentioning.

Such as:

I've been a camper x times in other scratch times as well as leading a cabin in *camp*. I've also hosted *camp* for x sessions!

cabin preferences

This section looks great <3 I don't have anything to comment on about it!

Time Management and Dedication

Not much to comment on about this section <3

Communication and Accountability

I did mention a few long sentences here, so I'd just recommend splitting them into smaller ones

Scenario

You answered this well, good job!

wip, i'll finish the rest of the answers later <3

Chuey's Leader App November '26 ✑ Text Version

About me

Hello, young traveler! It’s dangerous out there. Take this…
…and remember never to accept swords from strangers, because you will likely end up going on some far-fetched quest to slay a dragon or toss your uncle’s ring in a hole in the ground. Candy is probably okay, though.
My name is Chuey, and I’ll be your guide throughout this journey — but you’ll probably want to get to know me first. I use she/her pronouns and reside in the Chuey Standard Timezone. (Yes, they named it after me. I’m just cool like that.) I’m Christian homeschooler, aspiring writer, and lover of all things chocolate. According to the popular personality quiz, I’m an ENFP-T.

Ever since I was little, I’ve been an avid bookworm, devouring everything with words that came my way. My favorite genre is fantasy, but I also love a good science fiction or dystopian, and will gladly pick up an interesting mystery as well. (I’ve been getting into Agatha Christie more lately — I was hooked after Murder on the Orient Express.) I’m slightly less keen on historical fiction, but that has more to do with my obsessive fact-checking and disappointment when authors play willy-nilly with the timeline and historical accuracy than the genre itself. I refuse to touch horror, ever, because my imagination already keeps me up at night as it is, and I do need sleep to be able to function. (Or do I?)
I’m not sure whether my love of reading sparked my desire to someday write for a living, or vice versa, but I do know that I’ve wanted to become an author for as long as I can remember. My writing still has a ways to go before I’d be confident enough to share it with the world, but I’m getting there. (I also have to finish a draft first. Oops.)

Outside of literary interests, my hobbies include martial arts and music. I’ve been taking martial arts for four or five years now, although I do it recreatively rather than competitively. I love it because it engages both my body and my mind — you have to be able to both think quickly and stay on your feet.
Music, while quite different, is just as rewarding and fun. I’m going into my fifth year of music and fourth of piano (I took a year off piano to learn basic guitar), and I can’t wait. While I may never be the most talented musician, it scratches my creative itch and lets me express myself in a different way.

Finally, you'll probably want to keep an eye on your toes. They seem to mysteriously vanish when I'm around, for some reason.

Previous Participation

I have participated in SWC a total of 10 times before, making this my eleventh session. (I finally hit double-digits, yay!) Below is a quick breakdown of my previous roles:

July ‘22 (Dystopian) — Camper
November ‘23 (Real-fi) — Camper
March ‘24 (Fan-fi) — Camper
July ‘24 (Bi-fi) — Camper
November ‘24 (Fantasy) — Coleader, Polar Bear Cub (PBC)
March ‘25 (Mystery) — Leader, PBC
July ‘25 (Sci-fi) — Coleader, PBC
November ‘25 (Magreal) — Leader, PBC
March ‘26 (Fairy Tales) — Leader, PBC, Memory Book Committee
July ‘26 (Gothic) — Camper, PBC

Off of Scratch, I’ve been writing for about 11 years now. I’m entirely self-taught and enjoy exploring new genres and forms of writing rather than restricting myself to just one. On Scratch, I often enter for the SWC writing competition — below is a list of pieces that have won something over the years:

July ‘24 — Best Character Dynamics
November ‘24 — Judge’s Cut
March ‘25 — First Place
July ‘25 — Judge’s Cut
November ‘25 — 3rd in Fanfiction, Best Imagery
March ‘26 — Best Atmosphere

Recent leadership experiences in real life include my week working as a junior camp counselor for my MMA coach’s summer camp. This was an amazing opportunity for developing patience and confidence, and knowing when to be firm versus when a kid just needs to be comforted.
(It also taught me where the best places are to hide from foam projectiles during the infamous Nerf wars, which consisted of fifty-something kids running around in the dark attacking everything that moved. Ah, memories.)

Cabin Preferences

This session, I would love to lead Xenofiction, Science Fiction, or Folklore, with cabin ideas elaborated on below. If chosen as a co-leader, I don’t have any strong preferences — I generally prefer exploring genres I haven’t participated in before, but I don't want my casual cabingo to get in the way of exploring a great cabin idea, since the lineup always brings something new and fresh to the table each session.

Xenofiction — Something in you has always wanted to take the leap over the fence and into the wild. Yes, my friends, my idea for Xenofiction is a Warriors-themed cabin, set in the original four clans and their forest home. A threat looms on the horizon, and StarClan has issued a prophecy, calling for new heroes to arise and save the Clans from destruction. If they fail, the fate of the forest is at stake…

Science Fiction — Believe in the Hail Mary. Loosely based on the popular book and film adaptation Project Hail Mary, this storyline follows campers as they set out on a mission to save Earth and discover the secrets behind the dying stars. And along the way, they might be surprised to find out what else is out there — after all, the Sun isn’t the only star in danger, and they aren’t the only ones looking for answers.

Folklore — The Ultimate Explorer’s Guide to Surviving Faerie aims to provide those reckless and foolhardy enough to venture into Faerieland with a comprehensive survival guide. Please note that the Guide does not guarantee absolute safety, and the term “survival” indicates the ability to breathe — not the full or partial function of limbs and extremities, sanity, or speech. Enter the realm of the Good Folk at your own risk. In this storyline, campers will explore the perilous lands of Faerie while seeking ancient treasure.

I’m slightly more inclined to (co)lead a competitive cabin this session, but I’m also willing to (co)lead The Cabin That Will Not Win — I don’t have much of a preference either way. I love the excitement and motivation that comes with participating in a competitive atmosphere, while the laid-back vibes of TCTWNW would give me more breathing room for juggling schoolwork and working on personal projects.

Time Management and Dedication

A. On Mondays, Fridays, and weekends, I expect to be able to dedicate 1-2 hours a day to SWC, and on Wednesday I should have at least 30-60 minutes to check in. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I will only be available for a couple of hours in the afternoon and evening because of classes; I can’t guarantee activities on those days, but like Wednesday, I’ll do my best to pop in for 30-60 minutes.
Due to a more intense class schedule this year, my homework load will increase significantly, but I intend to be extremely proactive about time management and completing coursework.

B. I will be using my skills in organization and productivity to manage my time. I tend to be an organized and neat person, and I will be focusing more on translating that into lists, calendar reminders, and timers to assist with being more aware of how much time is passing and what I need to be doing at the moment. Keeping track of how long it’ll take to complete a task and upcoming deadlines helps me to be more efficient and get things done on time.

When I start a task, I eliminate as many distractions as possible to help keep me focused, and I try to finish it in one or two sittings if possible. I also set aside specific chunks of “working” time, during which I do any tasks (like chores and homework assignments) that need to be done that day. This helps me further eliminate anything that would pull me away from what I need to be focusing on at the time, and maximizes my productivity.

Communication and Accountability

When communicating with others, I would describe myself as being flexible, outgoing, and relatively informal. I’m willing to go with the flow and find what works best for everyone, rather than sticking stubbornly to my own ideas. I enjoy receiving input from others and do my best to encourage a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere where people can freely contribute, and work together to find the best way to incorporate everyone’s ideas. I prioritize comfort over formality and a rigid structure, but I also believe it’s important to have regular check-ins and updates to keep track of deadlines, how everyone is doing, and if anyone needs help.

I hold myself accountable by setting deadlines for myself, telling the people on my team what those deadlines are, and asking for reminders if I haven’t started working on something by the time I said I would. Having someone else checking in helps me remember what I’m supposed to be doing, and motivates me to complete the task in a timely manner.
I employ a similar method when working with teammates — I try to check in with people when deadlines are approaching or past to see if they need assistance with anything or just a gentle reminder, and reassign or adjust plans accordingly.

I believe transparency is a key factor when it comes to accountability, and I would do my best to promote that on a leadership team. If no one knows what you’re supposed to be doing or when it needs to be completed, not only is it harder to work together as a team, but the individual is entirely responsible for their own accountability. When someone else knows what you need to do and when it should be finished, they share some of the responsibility — they’re there to remind you or help as needed. I find that personally, often just knowing that someone else is aware of what I’m supposed to be doing at the moment is enough to motivate me to do it.

Scenarios

D. In this case, I would start by asking my team for progress updates, and then make a list of a) the outstanding tasks, b) their deadlines, and c) their priority. After that I would communicate with my team to get an estimate for how much time we had to get things done, and see if there were any items we could eliminate, set aside, or change to make things more manageable for everyone. My focus here would be ensuring no one feels overwhelmed by their workload — for example, if we had a somewhat elaborate plan for cabin activities that ended up being too much to get done by the deadline, I would rather cut it back and do something simpler than stress about doing it exactly the way we originally planned. The other goals I would prioritize in this situation include good communication and accountability with understanding. It’s important that everyone is open and honest about what they think they can handle, and it’s also important that we try to fulfill those commitments while keeping in mind that not everything always goes as planned. I never want to point fingers or accuse anyone of making a mistake, and I’d be focused on keeping an attitude that says “what can we do to fix this now?” rather than one that says “this wouldn’t have happened if…(insert blank).”

SWC Impact

SWC has been such a big writing influence on me over the past few years. Before discovering SWC, I knew only a handful of people who shared my interests in writing and creative expression. Since SWC, though, I’ve become part of an amazing community (from all over the world, no less!) that’s just as enthusiastic about first drafts and the perfect metaphor as I am, and simply knowing that I’m not the only crazy writer out there is huge. It’s solidified my confidence as a writer, helped me improve, and inspired me to push against self-imposed limits and try new things. Beyond that, it’s shown me that no matter where you come from, how old you are, or what your background is, people can come together to enjoy a love they all share and help each other improve their craft.

I hope to make SWC a positive experience for others by creating a cozy and welcoming environment for everyone I come across, whether it be someone I encounter only once or twice or a cabinmate I work alongside with for the entirety of the month. I enjoy reaching out to others, whether it’s to assist them or simply chat about something silly, and I do my best to be encouraging, helpful, and easy to talk to. I want to ensure that everyone participating in the session is getting something out of it, whether that be fulfilling personal goals, working to improve their skills, or just having fun doing the occasional daily and interacting with people. I intend to do this by offering assistance when needed, being open to answering questions and talking to participants, and working to help ensure that my cabin is a friendly and upbeat space, regardless of what role I’m in.

Cabin Atmosphere

A. “A flexible and friendly cabin focused on fulfilling individual goals and connecting with others while engaging in a fun and immersive storyline, all while choosing your own level of competitiveness.” (199 characters, generic)
i. “Leap into the wild, and straight into the world of Warriors! Team up with your cabinmates to save the Clans in an adventurous storyline, improve your writing, and discover the secrets of the forest.” (198 characters, Xenofiction)
ii. “The Sun is dying — step aboard the Hail Mary to experience the adventure of a lifetime, working alongside your team to save Earth in a cabin centered around meeting personal goals and making friends.” (199 characters, Science Fiction)
iii. “Explore the treacherous realm of Faerieland with your trusty survival guide as you search for fabled treasure. You’ll make fun memories, engage in friendly competition, and hopefully get out alive.” (197 characters, Folklore)

B. I would maintain this atmosphere by encouraging campers to explore personal projects, checking in and talking to people frequently, and creating storyline activities with collaboration and writing improvement in mind. My ideal would be to shape an atmosphere where the level of competition is personalized to both the individual and the cabin as a whole — those who want a more laid-back experience would have activities tailored to that, and the same is true for those who enjoy being more active and competitive.

Checkboxes

A.
  • Yes, I will be available to help add points consistently throughout camp
  • Yes, I’m willing to share a promotional project for SWC
  • Yes, I’m willing to put the camper signups link in my “About Me” or “What I’m Working On” on my Scratch profile

B. There are no leadership responsibilities listed in the FAQ I cannot complete at this time.

Bonus Question

Ooh, I would wear something really frilly and fancy, like an enormous ballgown! It would probably be in a darker tone — maybe a deep red or green — and involve lots of tulle and sparkles. And, of course, a matching mask with all the glitter✨

☀️ Summer Camp: Mouse's SWC Co-Leader App
2,750 words, not counting the bonus question or conclusion!

➳ About Me

Hello there!
My name is Mouse (they/them), and my time zone is MST! I am usually found spending my time at camp during the summer– and if it’s not summer, I’m most likely at home, doing schoolwork, something creative, playing games, or hanging out with friends.
If I had to list the top three biggest non-SWC influences in my life right now, I’d have to say scouts, theater, and music.

I’ve been doing scouts (Girl Scouts, Scouting America, and Sea Scouts) for an incredibly long time now, and I genuinely could not imagine myself without it. All three programs have fundamentally influenced who I am, taught me many lessons, and allowed me to meet a large range of amazing people. Some of my favorite things I’ve learned through scouting include fire building, knots, shooting sports, and how to cook focaccia bread.

When I was very little, I used to act in musicals! After COVID made me take a break, I didn’t return until this year. Instead of acting, I interviewed for tech crew on a Jr play, expecting it to be a one-time thing I did for a friend. Little did I know, I would have SO much fun on that production that I immediately signed up to interview for the next one, and it will certainly be one of many to come. Theater has always been magical to me: people becoming other people, time and time again, to tell a story, with so many unseen elements making it work. My favorite musical that I’ve worked on is The Wizard of Oz, and my favorite musicals in general include Hadestown, Ride the Cyclone, Heathers, Next to Normal, and SIX!

Music has always been a centerpiece in my life. I always have a song stuck in my head, and when I can, I’m always listening to music. As I write this, I’m listening to Roses All Over by Ranyes on loop, which has been one of my favorite songs for the past few days. In general, I have an incredibly broad music taste, and I’m willing to listen to anything at least once! My go-to favorite genres are metal, rock, punk, and sometimes pop, and my favorite artist is Linkin Park. Some other artists that I love are Set It Off, Autumn Kings, and Shinedown, and some songs I really love right now are Pow Pow (Conor Quest!), DOCTOR DOCTOR (LOWBORN), and Resentment (A Day To Remember). I also love creating music: singing, playing guitar, and creating songs digitally are all passions of mine that I’m looking to get better at!

➳ Experience

I have a lot of leadership experience on and off Scratch, and I’m always looking for new opportunities to gain more and to better my skills!

Leadership-wise, I would not be anywhere close to where I am right now without SWC. This will be my 15th session, and in that time I have been a camper six times, a co-leader four, and a leader four. Other roles I have held a varying degree of times over the years are a Polar Bear, a Polar Bear Cub, and a member of the Memory Book Committee.

In that time, I have learned valuable lessons again and again, such as time management, communication, delegation, better teamwork, improvisation skills, asking for help, and efficiency. SWC turned me from a kid who struggled in group settings, didn’t get things done on time, and never fully executed a plan/ideas to someone with many incredible teams and super fun cabins to their name– and for that, I am eternally grateful.

Outside of SWC, I have:
  • Participated in 39 total scratch camp sessions
  • Hosted three camps
  • Worked on several musical collaborations/bands
  • Been on the team of an animated series

I do a lot offline as well, and I’m very grateful for the opportunities that I’ve had!

I volunteer:
  • Primarily at my local community center, serving lunches to seniors
  • At Eagle Scout projects
  • At general community service projects
  • And I have over 350 hours from it <3

I am a Production Assistant on a show at a semi-professional theater, which includes:
  • Assisting the stage manager with the production
  • Helping with spreadsheets of lists/data
  • Standing in for absent actors
  • Laying out rehearsal spaces
  • When the show dates arrive, I’ll be doing a lot of backstage work, helping to manage the tech team, doing whatever I’m needed to, and ensuring the show runs smoothly!

During my 12 years of Girl Scouts, I have:
  • Served many times in leadership roles in my troop, mainly as the president or vice president of the troop (which involves planning and running meetings).
  • Earned my Bronze and Silver awards, and I am actively working on my Gold Award, which is the highest and most prestigious award in Girl Scouting.
  • Run several 100-200+ person events
  • Completed the Program Aide leadership training
  • Taken the two-week-long Counselor in Training (CIT) camp
  • Served as a CIT for two different sessions

In the three years I’ve done Scouting America, I have:
  • Served in many leadership positions
  • One of the go-tos to teach younger scouts
  • Life Scout, which is the second-highest rank, and working on my project for the highest rank
  • Completed National Youth Leadership Training
  • Worked at a Scouting America summer camp!

All of these things (especially the highest awards, trainings, and working at camp) have taught me things like patience, teaching by example, public speaking, how to handle conflict and/or diffuse situations, how to work with a wide variety of people, taking action, guiding a group toward a goal, and it’s all really improved my leadership skills a ton in general.

As for writing, I’ve been reading and telling myself stories for as long as I can remember! It’s always been something so magical to me: stories have their special way of finding you, even in the darkest places. I’ve taken multiple high-level writing courses, and I’ve attended quite a few workshops by authors in my area. I still wouldn’t consider myself to be all that great at writing, but I’m always having fun and striving to improve!!

➳ Cabin Preferences

I would love to work with anyone, on any-sized team, in any cabin! If I do end up getting an offer, I’ll choose based on the storyline and how much fun I think I will have in the cabin.

I would prefer not to co-lead TCTWNW <3

➳ Time Dedication + Management

I will dedicate at least two hours a day to SWC and even more time to writing! In the coming months, I don’t have any major conflicts, and besides school, the thing that will keep me busiest will be theater. I have rehearsals in the evenings on a lot of weekdays, and later in the month I will have some shows on the weekend, but I have plenty of time to get stuff done beforehand, while still, of course, prioritizing other irl commitments. In the event that anything comes up, I will immediately communicate it to my leadership team and the hosts.

Time management has always been a struggle for me, and it’s the number one thing that I’m trying to improve in my life right now. But just because I have a long way to go doesn’t mean I haven’t already come a long way: I am very proud of the progress I’ve made!

A lot of my time management skills have come from SWC, and it’s also made me really want to get better at it. It’s taken me from someone who could barely write 6k in a month to someone who can write over 100k (while still balancing life and other responsibilities)!

When managing my time, the first thing I do is block out my day. The night before, I will make a to-do list to see what I need to get done, and then I’ll put the items in order of importance. In the morning, I do schoolwork. When the afternoon arrives, I work on everything else I need to do, and I’ve been able to cut down on distractions enough that most of it is getting done efficiently!

However, this method only works if I actually sit down and work. It doesn’t stop me from procrastinating, and if I procrastinate, things can get out of control very quickly. To combat this, I’ve set up rewards for myself for doing work (ie if I work during the day, I have two hours in the evening to do whatever I want, from playing video games to watching shows! But ONLY if I work), and I’ve asked some very wonderful friends of mine to help keep me accountable (ie to motivate me to get up early, I do writing sprints with Eevee in the morning!). Camp has also helped get me to sit down and get things done, no matter how annoying they might be. For example, if your paperwork didn’t get done on time, it would reflect poorly on you and your center. It showed me that even if something is difficult, avoiding it will only make it worse, and I can’t wait to apply everything I learned to SWC!

➳ Communication + Accountability

I’d say my communication style is kind and efficient, making sure the group knows the goals while still being silly and whimsical.
In a group setting, my first priority is that everyone is being heard. I want to make sure that each idea is considered, every opinion is valued, and no one feels left out. I encourage everyone to share their thoughts as much as possible, and I always make sure the team is on the same page. If conflict, disagreement, or another problem arises, I try to deal with it as soon as possible: this could look like discussing something further, adjusting plans, and ensuring everyone is communicating their needs.

To keep everyone accountable, I do my best to check in on the progress of projects often, offering assistance and support if needed, and making sure no one person is doing too much work. I also try to regularly post updates on my own projects and will answer honestly about how a project is going, whether it’s good or bad.

Another favorite of mine is making lists so that everyone knows what needs to be done, and I work with my team to set reasonable deadlines so everything gets done.
In the event a deadline gets missed, I’ll discuss with the team to see if the project needs to be shrunk or simplified, as well as setting a new deadline.
When I miss my own deadlines, SWC-related or otherwise, I move that thing to the top of my priority list, and I usually create some sort of reward for getting it done, such as getting to play a game or eat some ice cream when it’s finished.

➳ Scenario

I’ve experienced scenario D over and over again: I’ve had sessions where my team handled it extremely well, and I’ve had sessions where it made the cabin crash and burn. Both have taught me different lessons!

First of all, to prevent the scenario from happening in the first place, I make sure that the team is keeping organized: keeping to-do lists, getting things done, setting reasonable deadlines, and checking in often. I also like to get a solid cabin concept that can be added to if there’s time, but if there’s not enough time, it will still function perfectly well as a complete cabin.

If the situation does begin to happen, catching it early and offering support to team members is really important. If it continues to get worse, the next thing I would do is suggest simplifying things: perhaps the entire calendar of unlockable activities can be cut down to just a few projects that will be posted throughout the month, or some of the art can be replaced with text or graphic design.

Making sure no one is feeling blamed (or blaming themself) is also very important in this situation, not only to keep the group working together but also for the mental health of those involved. To make sure I’m not doing this, I’ll always keep my statements neutral and be understanding: I am fully aware that life happens, and I’ve been the person not getting stuff done because of it on several occasions. Luckily, since SWC is such a kind and loving community, blaming others is unlikely to happen, but in the event that it does, I would shut it down as fast as possible, make the hosts aware of the situation, and kindly ask the person in private to make sure we’re being kind.

Reassuring the team and keeping a calm demeanor will also do a lot in helping everyone stay on their feet, because if everyone’s stressed, it will only build off each other until everything is a bigger mess.

➳ SWC Impact

SWC is a magical place. Everyone here is so fun, caring, and uplifting– I genuinely haven’t found anything else quite like it. It’s allowed me to meet so many amazing people, some of whom have become my closest friends. I know that, no matter what, everyone has my back, through my highs and my lows. I’ve celebrated some of my biggest successes with my SWC friends, and I’ve worked through some of my roughest moments.

In life, you fail. Everyone makes mistakes, everyone has bad days, and everyone has to learn. SWC has given me a place to experiment, try new things, and… fail! I won’t deny it: in the course of my four years in SWC, I’ve come up short a lot. I’ve made mistakes, I’ve bitten off more than I can chew, I’ve missed deadlines, and I’ve gotten stuck. But every time I’ve failed, I’ve learned! I’ve gotten better at planning cabins, communicating with others, asking for help, managing time, dealing with deadlines, and countless other things, and I am so grateful that SWC has given me that forgiving space! If it weren’t for this camp, I would have had to learn all of those lessons in harder, much less forgiving environments, and I wouldn’t be doing as well as I am today in things like scouts, school, and my job.

I genuinely don’t think there’s an area in my life that SWC hasn’t touched, and I can’t repay what it has given me, but I am always doing everything I can to try!
When I first joined SWC, I was incredibly confused, and so I asked questions. A LOT of questions. With every question, someone happily provided an answer and encouraged me to ask more if I was still lost! I have received so much helpful feedback from so many amazing people who will set aside their precious time for my projects, whether it’s an app (this app alone has been critiqued or reviewed by at least 7 incredible people!), writing, or art, and I have gotten so much kindness from everyone that I’ve met, especially leaders. I want to be that person for SWCers, and I will always be emulating the love I have received. To do so, I will do my best to say hello to people, check in with my campers, answer every question I can, make memories, help myself and others improve in any way we can, and stay an active, fun, and approachable person. Nothing makes me happier than bringing a smile to someone’s face, and I will always strive to do that through my actions in SWC <3

And finally, I will share my love of SWC in everything I do for it! From designing things for my cabin to causing chaos, hopefully campers will be able to tell that I truly care about SWC, about the work I do as a co-leader, and about them.

➳ Cabin Atmosphere

“A fun, community-focused, competitive cabin that highlights bonding, making memories, and taking care of yourself while climbing the leaderboard and being wonderfully chaotic!” (175 characters)

To create that atmosphere, I will focus on creating low-pressure activities in the cabin storyline with a balance of writing, self care, and silliness. I’ll interact with my campers, cause chaos, and encourage them to do point earning activities if they are able by creating rewards for getting certain amounts done. I’ll encourage cabin bonding, check in with campers and leadership team alike, and I will hopefully have as much fun as I want others to have!

➳ Checkboxes

(x) I will be able to help add points in the main cabin consistently throughout camp
( ) I’m willing to share a promotional project for SWC
(x) I’m willing to put camper signups on my profile

I am able to complete all of the responsibilities in the FAQ.

➳ Bonus Question

My dream masquerade outfit would have a detailed dragon mask and a dark full suit, embroidered with fancy patterns. I would have black gloves, and I would have a fancy decorative cane with a crow on top.

➳ Conclusion
Thank you so much for taking the time to view my application. Hopefully you learned a little more about me in the process! I had a lot of fun making it (but not nearly as much fun as I had at camp ;D).
Over the course of the summer, I learned a LOT, I had a blast, and I had a shocking amount of Firsts: first time doing an airplane layover solo, first time working at camp, first time splicing a rope, first time getting a marksmanship award (or three) for rifle, first time watching the Lego Batman movie, first time getting rolled offstage in a trashcan as part of my role in a show, and so many more!!!
Besides the silly things, I have also gained a ton of skills that I am really excited to apply to every area of my life, including SWC.
Like I said in my app, I wouldn’t be anywhere near where I am today without SWC, and I appreciate that fact as often as I can– I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
I’m so excited for this session, no matter what role I’m participating in!! I know that I will have as much fun as I always do, and I cannot wait to see what it will bring <3

Tiger's (co)leader app draft ✧˚ ༘ ⋆。˚

About me

Hello there, I’m Tiger! I go by she/her pronouns and am currently living in the AEST time zone. I’m a violinist and classical music fan, so I’m particularly excited for this session!

I also play tennis, which really helps me escape from music & the screen and keeps me healthy. My dream is to one day step into the classical world and play in a professional orchestra. I also take my education and grades seriously because they give me more opportunities.

Previous Participation
This is my second session in SWC, and I would never be here, answering these questions and designing my app, if I hadn’t had such an amazing time in the previous session. I was only a first-time camper, and my (co)leaders inspired me so much.

Off Scratch, I’ve led a section of an orchestra, along with my sister, as one of the youngest people in the orchestra. On Scratch, I haven’t experienced any leadership positions, but I love to help out wherever I can.

Cabin Preferences
I would love to (co)lead lyric, fairy tales, or gothic! I chose lyric because it is the closest to music, fairy tales because I just love reading them hehe, and gothic because I had such an inspiring time there! I would also love to lead a classical music cabin because that’s where I have the most experience.

As I have a competitive spirit and love a challenge, I’d rather not lead TCTWNW.

Time Management & Dedication

A: On school days that don’t have any special events, I plan to dedicate around 30–70 minutes a day. We have one set of school holidays during which I will be least active, and for around 5 days of that time, we have a program that won’t allow me to reliably check in every day. Apart from that, in the upcoming months, I will have around 6 events that may take up a bit of time.

B: I would consider myself someone who cannot stand not going online and checking in or letting someone down, and sometimes this makes me feel very guilty and worried (don’t worry, sometimes I manage to forget about it). I like to give myself a checklist with the things I need to do, and I always make sure I finish them. If not, I sneak online and do it anyway :’)

Communication & Accountability
I would describe myself as someone who really wants to make sure everyone is having fun and isn’t stressed about the work at all. This is probably because I know how it feels to not want to stay active because of the amount of work. In my chats with other Scratchers, I like to have fun and just get to know them, as well as share interests and hobbies.

I would say I definitely can be assertive, but I’d rather not be, and I would only do so if someone’s harassing someone else.

Scenario A
If a camper is overwhelmed and in this situation, I would probably go over the top with making sure they understand that ‘life > SWC’ (this is one of my favourite sayings). Stress and being worried are very unhealthy, and I want them to think of SWC as just a casual side hobby and not a commitment.

I would also offer to lower their word goal and suggest that they go outside and take a few breaths of fresh air or get some exercise.

SWC Impact
Finding SWC was like finding a room of gold. For me, I consider SWC one of my favourite parts of Scratch. Although the idea was so cool and the activities were so much fun, it was the people who brought it all to life for me. I was fortunate enough to be chosen for gothic. My fellow campers and (co)leaders were amazing; they were so supportive and made my first session a dream. The hosts of the session were also so organized, and I met many amazing friends.

With that in mind, the whole point of me signing up to be a (co)leader is to reflect this feeling for other campers and hopefully new aspiring writers.
If I end up leading, I would do this by supporting everyone and organizing fun and engaging activities. I would also be encouraging bonding and the making of new friends.

Cabin Atmosphere
A: A little bit of both, I think. I want our cabin to be a warm, welcoming room where, with every message, everyone bombards the sender with supportive comments and offers kind advice. I would also love for our cabin to have a fair sense of friendly competition and pride in our cabin.

In tennis, my highlights have all come from team tennis. The feeling was indescribable, and it felt like I was on top of the world with my team. I want to give that feeling to everyone.

B: I would foster this atmosphere by giving fun and easy activities that aim to encourage bonding, and of course, posting daily comments for campers to share their thoughts about.

Checkboxes
• I will be able to help add points in the Main Cabin consistently throughout camp ✔︎
• I’m willing to share a promotional project for SWC ✔︎
• I’m willing to put the camper signups link in my “About Me” or “What I’m Working on” on my Scratch profile. ✔︎

B: I can complete all responsibilities listed <3

Bonus
Yay, this is my type of question!! My dream outfit would be a long, slim, lavender-coloured dress with matching purple drop earrings and a necklace, and a matching mask. Would be fun!

Thank you for reading this, even if I don’t get chosen, I’ll definitely apply for camper <33

SWC Megathread ‧₊˚❀༉‧ July 2026

Fab's (co-)leader application! (1,593 words)

About Me

Hi! I'm Fab, but Flamingo is fine too. I'm in the BST timezone, and I use she/her pronouns. Onto things I like, I absolutely LOVE reading! I try to read at least one book every day, and my favourite genre is realistic fiction or fantasy. I also enjoy reading classics when I have more time, and I'm currently tackling Wuthering Heights, alongside some easier books!

As for writing, I've been writing for over six years now, and I really love it. I mostly write a picture book series for children, which I can't share much about here. As well as my main series, I also write smaller, less polished books which are aimed at slightly older children.

Otherwise, I like to play football in my spare time, and watch it, too. Over the summer was a great time for that interest to increase, with the World Cup and the sunny weather being perfect for the sport.

I've also been playing the piano for a few years now, and I'm at Grade 4 standard now, working towards my exam. Piano isn't my main focus at the moment, but I like playing in my spare time, as a more relaxing hobby.
I also study music theory, which has been useful, and sometimes quite boring or difficult, hehe.

I don't really have any other main interests at the moment, but I do also learn Welsh, which I'm hoping to improve in the coming years. I did pick up crochet a while ago, but it never really clicked with me after I tried and failed to create a granny square blanket. I'm aiming to try again this winter though, since it's a cosy activity which I haven't tried for quite some time.

Alright, that's about all you should know about me for now!

Previous Participation

I've participated in SWC twice so far! (Cyberpunk March ‘26, backup camper, and Dystopian July ’26, Camper!)
I've never led or co-led a cabin, but my sessions as camper have helped me become familiar with SWC.
As for leadership outside of SWC, I haven't had all that much. On Scratch, I've been a Scratch Camp Counsellor, where I answered any questions people have, as well as help in the studios. I've also been a counsellor in a few community-led summer camps, and have helped to create group projects as well as making sure the campers have a great time. Otherwise, I'm a leader in another writing camp, Creative Writing Camp, and I've developed a storyline and tasks, which helped my leadership experience. In real life, I haven't had any leading experience yet.

For writing, I've been doing it for years now, and have written countless stories, filled up hundreds of notebooks, and have even explored writing on Scratch for writing camps. I'm an experienced writer at this point, though I definitely still have a lot to learn and improve.

Cabin Preferences

If I was chosen to lead a cabin, I'd prefer to lead one of these genres: Fantasy, Short Story or Realistic Fiction.

For Fantasy, my idea is to have a Lord of The Rings theme, where campers travel across Middle-Earth, go separate paths, do different tasks, and ultimately save Middle-Earth.

If I led Short Story, I would have a cabin theme where the campers have to finish the Never-ending story but, while completing different tasks, have to find ways to reduce the Never-ending story to a smaller word count each time so it's a short story. I haven't fully thought out this idea, but I quite like the premise.

As for Real-fi, I have an idea where campers work in a cosy Cat Cafe, where they look after the cats, make hot drinks, and have a cosy and warm time – until the cats go missing and the campers have to track them down…
This cabin could also fit Mystery or possibly Illustrated Fiction.

If I was selected as a co-leader, I don't really have too strict preferences. I would honestly be happy co-leading any cabin, but I'd prefer to co-lead genres like the ones listed above. Like I said though, any genre is good with me. I would prefer not to co-lead Horror or Gothic though, since I'm not interested in those genres.

As for TCTWNW, I'd prefer not to (co-)lead, since I like competition, but I'm open to (co-)leading it this session.

Time Management and Dedication

I should be able to dedicate at least 30 - 60 minutes to SWC every day without sacrificing anything else. Hopefully I'd be able to spend more time on SWC during the weekends, too. I don't have any plans in November that affect my activity, except for school.

I'd use skills like communication and planning to ensure I stay active. I would communicate with anyone involved if I had to be less active, to plan around inactivity. I would also plan when I need to do things, so I don't fall behind with Scratch Writing Camp OR real life. By planning effectively, I won't become inactive or less dedicated. I'd also be forward thinking and write down or record what I need to do ahead of time. This way, I know what's coming so I can get everything done before the deadline.

Communication and Accountability

My communication in group settings online is usually pretty clear; I say what I think works, improves something, or is even just my opinion. I'm also very calm, so I read through what I've put before hitting post. That way, I can edit my message so no one misinterprets it. On Scratch especially, I'm a strong leader, and I'm always ready to step up when necessary to take a leadership role. In real life, I don't have too many opportunities to communicate in groups, but I'd say it's around the same, with the exception being I think before I speak instead of reading a comment before posting.

I hold myself accountable by making a digital to-do list, putting a reminder in a visible place, or setting a mental deadline for when to complete something. This helps me remain organised, and is the best way for me to stay accountable too. For holding others accountable, I gently remind them if they need to complete something, or suggest ways for them to hold themselves accountable instead.

Scenarios

A.

I would speak to that camper and say something like “Take a break from writing; Life is more important than SWC, and stressing about your word goal isn't healthy. It's alright to take some time off, and come back to it when you're fresh.” I'd also ask the camper if they'd like to lower their word goal to lessen the pressure. I would also add something like “SWC is meant to be just a fun hobby, and if it's stopped being that, or it's becoming stressful, then it's important to realise that word goals are just a fun, motivation boosting part of SWC.” I would also say to the camper that it's not always the amount of words you write, it's the writing you produce that counts.

SWC Impact

SWC has impacted me in several ways, one of which being motivation. Before starting SWC back in March, I barely had any motivation left to write. Now, I'm brimming with ideas and excited to start writing again all year round. I've also become much more motivated to get things done in real life so I can spend more time on SWC or writing in general. I'd like to help other SWCers be more motivated too, and I think the way I'd do that would be by giving out fun prompts, writing challenges, and just making campers have an enjoyable experience they'll want to do again. Another way SWC has helped me is by improving my writing skills, because I've written in different genres, participated in weekly challenges which have increased the length of my writing, and have generally just been prompted to write more during SWC. I'll help campers to hone their skills by focusing on writing quality, so they'll be impacted by this as well.
Finally, SWC has impacted me by simply being a fun activity that includes one of my favourite things to do - writing. The two sessions I've been a camper in have been unforgettable, and I've really enjoyed them. If I get picked as a (co-)leader, I will do my best to make sure campers have a fun and enjoyable session.

Cabin Atmosphere

“A friendly and welcoming cabin with a focus on writing improvement and quality while staying competitive.” (105 characters)

I will maintain this cabin atmosphere by allowing campers to focus on improving their writing instead of focusing solely on winning, or writing thousands of words. I'll make sure it's welcoming to new campers by saying hi to everyone, answering their questions, and making sure everything is clear. If someone is confused, I'll go through everything again with them so they understand what everything does, like word count studios, and where to post writing. To make sure we stay competitive, I'll create a fairly active storyline, but so we still concentrate on writing quality, perhaps a story with less tasks.

Checkboxes

Yes, I will be able to add points.
Yes, I can share a promotional project on my alt account, if that counts.
Yes, if I can make space I will put the camper signups link on my profile.

No, I can complete all the responsibilities listed.

Bonus

Hehe, that's a fun idea! I actually don't have a clue what I'd wear to a masquerade, haha.

↟ . the secret forest . . . a swc leader application (forum ver.)

➳ ABOUT ME
Hello! I’m Splash (she/her, they/them, xe/xyr/xem or ae/aer/aem), and I’m a 14 year old and a freshman in high schooI. I try to seem enthusiastic, yet welcoming, and I obsess over ELA and writing.
I am a proud, well-informed owner of a leopard gecko and two dogs (family pets), Project Hail Mary fan, and soccer player.

Some of my hobbies include writing, hiking, biking, (oh my gosh they rhyme?!?!) gaming, and reading - I enjoy both curling up and chilling as well as exercising. I’m a huge fan of nature and just generally being outside. On a nice, breezy day, my ideal outside hangout spot would definitely be a forest - I also love hiking and exploring the woods near my house, which actually inspired the theme of these slides.

I would generally describe myself as an introverted introvert while around strangers, though with people I know, I’m definitely upbeat - more like an extroverted introvert. On Scratch, I’m not really as shy and introverted, however. I’m quite excited to get to know this session’s campers!
As a quick note, however, j have ADHD, anxiety, and autism, so some things may
overstimulate me.

➳ PREVIOUS PARTICIPATION
During July, I was a camper during SWC - my very first session! However, I was still settling in and July was quite busy, so I can’t say I was too proud of my writing.
However, now that I’ve settled in better, my writing will be much higher in quality and effort, and I’m quite excited to share it with you all.

I actually have a lot of experience with writing, however- I write novels on Google Docs, plan comics for Scratch- but I have some more unique ways I write. For example, I’m making a Psychological Horror Minecraft Map called Wake Up, which- believe it or not, demands lots of lore writing, plot planning, and more. I also enjoy English classes at school, and take part in many ELA assignments.

➳ CABIN PREFERENCES
I don’t mind which cabin I (co)lead if this is accepted, but I do have some preferences.
First off, the very cabin I participated in as a camper for my FIRST session…
Xeno-Fi!
IDEAS FOR XENOFICTION ~ I’ve always been intrigued by the rugged wilderness of Yellowstone National Park - Ol’ Faithful? Steamboat Geyser? They really all seem magical, and genuinely so beautiful and untamed. As many animals happily live their life, I honestly think Yellowstone would be such a wild, gorgeous setting for a Xeno-fi cabin - in addition, so many beautifully wild, fascinating animals have settled in the park. I have a very interesting storyline idea, something natural and wild but high-stakes.
I’ve actually researched and studied this before, and to be honest, I think it’s quite the cool concept.- the gases that the geysers release into the air can sometimes NOT dissolve into the air like regular. On windless, freezing cold nights, the gases, heavier than regular air, instead seep into deep valleys and crevices, poisoning the lungs of ground-dwelling animals. It would be a race against time for valley-dwelling animals, and they’d have to work together to climb the mountains that were once a guardian to their valley home before the poison seeps into their lungs.

I admit that’s the only cabin I had an idea for, but I do have a couple other preferences. Fantasy, for one, is intriguing - going along the woodland theme, it could be set in some kind of enchanted woodland island. I also have a vague idea for Adventure, maybe it takes place in the Blue Mountains, and the cabin’s campers would be lost after a camping trip, or something like that?

➳ TIME MANAGEMENT/DEDICATION
With homework and assignments piling up on me, during weekdays I’ll be able to dedicate about 2 hours to SWC, 1 hour around 5:30, and another hour around 7:00. During the weekend, if I’m not busy, I have about 3 hours to use for SWC scattered around the day.

(co)leading will be my main focus, and I’ll generally try to stay quite often. I get on Scratch about every day, so each day I can dedicate most of my time to leader tasks and writing. I’ve even made a schedule to make my tasks a steady, non-stressful flow!

➳ COMMUNICATION/ACCOUNTABILITY
I try to be as friendly but respectful of others as possible, creating a welcoming but steady, independent presence.
I’d say I am a tiiiiiny bit silly, and I feel like I bring a chaotic, lighthearted presence (though almost every SWC-er is just as chaotic as me), though I promise I can be serious.

I will say that I can get frustrated, and it’s a bit hard understanding some things for me. My autism does make leadership tasks a bit tricky, but I’ll try my best to (co)lead in an organized manner. I may suggest a forum topic for me and the other (co)leaders of my cabin if this is accepted to plan dailies, QoTDs, the storyline, and tasks and responsibilities for all.

I would try to balance friendliness and seriousness, checking in on everyone every so often, especially if some people haven’t added words recently. If that happens, I may gently ask if they need to take a break while giving them independence and not pressuring them - or at least trying to.
To keep myself accountable, I’ll try to be as active and responsible for the many tasks of (co)leading. If I feel anxious or if I haven’t been writing in a bit, I’ll try and take a quick break, write a schedule, and brainstorm fun, simple ideas to get creativity flowing again. For leadership tasks, I might try and balance it out throughout each day to make it easier.

➳ SCENARIOS (a)
I would reassure them that life > SWC, and that the competition and word-adding doesn’t really matter that much. After all, in the grand scheme of things, it’s a community of writers, and word goals are not above real-life feelings, and that feeling overwhelmed is completely valid.

I’d overall just want to reassure them that being overwhelmed and anxious is perfectly fine, and that real life is much, much more important than SWC. I don’t mean that in an offensive way - Life is much, much, MUCH more important than Scratch itself.

➳ SWC IMPACT
SWC has truly had such a positive impact on me.

It just made me so happy to find such a beautiful, welcoming, low-drama community with competitions that are somehow low-pressure. It let me unleash my creativity, and share it with others. I will try my very best to let campers - new or coming back - feel the same way I did during my very first session. Welcomed and just completely overjoyed to have such a light-hearted, supportive writing community here in SWC. Truly, thank you to everyone in SWC -hosties and previous hosties, leaders and campers.

➳ CABIN ATMOSPHERE
“A welcoming, fun, & light-hearted cabin full of adventure and competition, with the goal of improving your writing skills!”

Overall, a cozy but activity-filled, energetic cabin with a competitive edge. I want to focus fully on writing skills, however, the activities and contests mostly for fun! I would post optional activities and whatnot to get the campers to know each other better, as well as optional QoTDs, or “Question of The Day”, focusing on real life interests, would you rathers, and more to get to know everyone!

➳ CHECKBOXES
A
I will be able to help add points in the Main Cabin consistently. ✓
I’m willing to share a promotional project fot SWC. ✓
I’m willing to put the camper signups link in my Scratch profile bio. ✓
B
I don’t think I’ll have any problems w/ responsibilities!

➳ BONUS !
Ooh, this is such a fun question! (although I admit I overthought it just a tiiiiiiny bit )

Maybe a sapphire blue dress with silver butterflies sewn on, very loose, flowy and soft, maybe made out of silk! Of course, I’d have a mask because AHHHH, masquerade masks are always so cool and fancy! It would probably be white or silver, with one side having golden butterflies to match with the butterfly thing. To be honest, I have no idea why I thought “butterflies!”, but yeah!

marbles' swc co-leader app nov 2026

2628 words

click me for the project version!

About Me

Hello! My name is Marbles, but I also go by Mark in some other communities. I'm an 18 year old Christian and a college student who is slowly coping with his environment, but is still struggling nonetheless :sob: My pronouns are he/him and I'm living in the timezone of MYT! I'm currently in my second semester in my course and I strive to improve my studies this time, especially since my results from last semester weren't satisfactory… Regardless, I am hyped for this session! I was recently appointed as a group leader of a very important project so I want to use this session of SWC to nurture my leadership skills!

Onto my hobbies! First off, we have to start off with my number 1 hobby that I've included in every leader app without fail, gaming! I am still a huge fan of Touhou Project and Deltarune. (FLOWER MAN FLOWER MAN WITH HIS HEART IN THE SAND) I still actively play Project Moon games, being Limbus Company, Library of Ruina (one day I'll make a leader app off this I PROMISE) and Lobotomy Corporation. However, I have recently started a new game that both my project moon and touhou fans had introduced me to, Blue Archive. And my God, I LOVE BLUE ARCHIVE!!! The gameplay is so good, the story is absolutely beautiful, and the characters are all so compelling! (Though, none of them even came close to Heathcliff from Limbus Company, who is still my favorite fictional character of all time.) But I genuinely love BA much more than Limbus as a whole, despite BA having certain things I can’t address. Though I should stop rambling as that discussion might eat up the word count for this leader app, so let's get moving!

Another one of my hobbies that I've stated in past apps is singing. As mentioned previously, I serve as a worship leader. But that's not the only thing I'm serving in. In fact, a lot has changed in a few months! I've began to pick up different ministries to try something new, like photography! It was difficult to start, but I am learning to improve little by little. However, I have to move around a lot for the right angle and stand for long periods of time, which can be quite draining. And even after taking photos, I have to edit them afterwards within a timeframe, which isn't ideal as I also have pending schoolwork that's piling up gradually. But I've got to know plenty of amazing people, who guide me through things I struggle and help me improve! Another thing I recently did was acting in a drama. It was probably the most fun I had when serving, especially since it was something I've been dying to do for ages! Unfortunately, it came at the expense of me hurting myself due to some of my acting stunts, as I was acting as a clumsy character. But it was an eye opening experience and I'd be willing to do it again! As a result, I've grown more accustomed to the people of my church and made more friends! I wouldn't even dream of getting to know so many people back when I was a quiet introvert back in high school, but a lot has changed and it's all thanks to God! There may have been plenty of mishaps here and there. But ultimately, I prefer the good things over the bad that came with serving, so that's really amazing for me!

So with all that's said, I am, once again, super hyped for this session! I can't wait to (hopefully) be accepted and meet plenty of amazing people in the SWC community! (I'd have added more stuff in the About Me section, but more stuff regarding myself would be explained in the other answers. So sit back and keep on reading! )

Experiences

I have participated in SWC multiple times in the past! Below are the list of cabins and roles I've taken during my time in SWC ^^

  • July 2021 Adventure - Camper
  • March 2022 Horror - Camper
  • March 2023 Dystopian - Camper
  • November 2023 Mystery - Camper
  • March 2024 Fairy Tales - Camper
  • November 2024 Sci-Fi - Camper
  • July 2025 Fantasy - Co-Leader
  • November 2025 Sci-Fi - Co-Leader (TCTWNW)
  • July 2026 Xeno-Fi - Camper

Regarding my writing experiences, I have participated in a number of competitions. Unfortunately, I have yet to win a prize in SWC's writing competition (okay but to be fair, the competition is fierce and there are so many excellent entries that are entering in it every session!). However, it doesn't mean I have nothing to share regarding writing. As of right now, I'm actually developing a personal project regarding Limbus that required my writing skills. I gave my friends a draft of what I've planned, and they are all looking forward to see the final product! Even back in high school, I remember winning a writing competition that featured my story in the yearbook! Honestly, I still believe I have a long way to improve as a writer, but I'm slowly getting back into the habit!

As for my leadership experiences, as mentioned earlier, I became a co-leader twice in SWC. In these two sessions, I co-led Fantasy in July 2025 with Mabel, Crim and Bookie, and Sci-Fi in November 2025 with Ava and Ivory. These leadership experience has not only exposed me to so many amazing people, but it has also taught me a couple of things about being a leader! I've learnt the responsibilities I needed to uphold if I want my team and myself to progress smoothly. Thus, I have also managed to use these skills whenever I'm the worship leader in my church. I started to become more focused on what I should prepare and let the team know of the things I've planned, instead of coming up with an idea last minute and not communicating it to my other team members. On another note, as mentioned in the About Me section, I was also assigned to be a group leader of a very important group project this semester. Being responsible of so many roles can be really draining and cause me to burnout, but I admit I do enjoy the role of being a leader as it helps me build my confidence, which in turn helps me to open up to more people. Though, just like my writing skills, I have a LOT to improve as a leader, so I'm looking forward to apply for SWC again!

Cabin Choices

I'm perfectly fine with leading any cabin! I don't really have a specific cabin in mind, especially since I'm just applying for co, but if I were to choose, I'd take Fantasy, Epistolary or Gothic. As for TCTWNW, I'll be glad to be able to co-lead this cabin if possible. Workload from college has gotten to me again, plus all the work from my church isn't making things much easier. However, I'd also open up to co-leading positions outside of TCTWNW. After all, I'd like a bit of excitement that comes with competition!

Time Management & Dedication

A.
I'm willing to commit 2-3 hours to SWC daily. My exams this semester will take place during late November and early December, so most of the cabin planning and development will mostly stay unaffected (unless certain irl matters persist). There actually isn't much that would affect me heavily, so I'll be listing out times when I'm less active. Weekends are my biggest offenders, as I'll be serving in my church, I wouldn't have enough time to focus on other things. The issue mainly persists on Saturdays, so I can make time for Sundays. However, compared to last session, I'm more chill around this time around, so I can hopefully be able to contribute more!

B.
One thing I often do is making a to do list. I have it written on a notepad on my laptop which I will always look at every time I access my laptop. Inside the to do list, I have separated tasks for each day so I can get things done in a certain timeframe! For example, I split a project of mine into 4 parts to be done with 5 days. So I focus each part on the first four days, and the final day to make any last minute changes and submit the work on time! Unfortunately, sometimes I procrastinate and even forget to do the stuff I've written out in my to do list. So to help out with this problem, I told a few friends of mine regarding my problem, and we agreed to be accountability partners! As we've only started this a few days ago, I'm not sure of the progress in the long run, but so far it's been working well! I'm able to get the stuff done by the end of the day to ease up my load for the next day. So if I do the same thing with my fellow leaders, I'm sure I'll be able to counter this problem too!

Communication & Accountability

A.
I view communication as an important way for us to understand one another. Thus, I want to make sure my intentions are clear and my tone is friendly whenever I communicate with my team. However, the way I communicate with people can vary depending on the person I'm talking to. If it was someone I am comfortable or familiar with, I tend to speak out more. Otherwise, I would remain quiet and listen to what people are saying before coming up with my feedback. But all in all, I will always play the role of giving suggestions and ideas for the team to consider. Either way, I also want to ensure that there will be no conflicting plans within the team, so that we can make sure things go smoothly and efficiently as best as possible!

B.
Accountability is like responsibility to me. Since I'm signing up to be a co-leader, I am also prepared to face the responsibilities that are expected of me. Hence, I will plan out a schedule to be able to balance out time for my studies, SWC responsibilities and church work. But in a team setting, things are slightly different, as I am responsible for not only my own stuff, but also for other people. Especially since we're all working together, we should also look out for one another if we all want to accomplish the same goal. I understand that there are times where I cannot keep up with my duties, so I will seek help from my other leaders if that came to be. Furthermore, I can also do the same to support my fellow leaders when they face a problem! Like cheering them on, checking in on them to see how their progress is going and all! Overall, accountability in a team should be us looking out for each other, so we can be responsible of our own tasks, support each other and reach towards our common goal!

Scenarios

Scenario chosen: B

This is very similar to the question I answered before, so I'm going to elaborate on that! In life, there are sometimes things where the only thing you can do to help is by not doing anything. In this case, I won't exactly be doing nothing per se. Instead, I'll just let them know I'll be available whenever they still need my help at the last minute. But I'll also let them know that it is okay to take their time in doing their work! After all, we're all humans and we have limitations. I understand this as a college student, where a lot is expected of you in a short period of time, so I started to become more understanding towards people who struggle the same. Once they had finished, I'll make sure to congratulate them or at least make them feel assured. In the end, we're a team, and we are supposed to work together and support each other directly or behind the scenes!

SWC Impact

recommended to read this part while listening to this

No one person should ever carry the entire weight of the world on their shoulders, especially not a child.
It should NEVER be that way.
It's not your responsibility.
That duty should fall to the adults in your life.
… I'll be the one to take responsibility.

SWC has changed me in more ways than I could imagine.

Never would I have imagined that something so trivial like SWC was able to let me see and explore different things in my daily life. Back in July 2021, I just wanted to join an activity for fun, especially because I didn't want to listen to my online classes. (DO NOT FOLLOW MY EXAMPLE) And wow, it was the most fun time I had at the time on this site! I felt connected to people where we can freely be silly with each other, and have tons of funny inside jokes! The best ones I remember were the “neon horror” cabin back in March 2022 and the “we dont talk about bruno” parody in the same session! Every single session that I participated as a camper had an engaging and really fun storyline! And overall, it was because of this that I was able to nurture a new hobby of writing! But I think the most prominent way SWC has influenced me is in my leadership skills! Back when I co-led Fantasy in July 2025, I received a thank-you note from my fellow cos, which encouraged me to lead more as I have the skills to be a great leader. Thus, it was this that made me take on more and more leadership roles in the past year, and it has helped developed my character immensely!

“I've spoken of responsibility before”
“I didn’t truly understand it then,”
“but now I do.”
“Adulthood, responsibility, obligation”
“and the choices you make that extend beyond those ideals”
“I even understand their implications.”

Because of this, I want to let others have the same experience. To be able to open up doors to different opportunities in leading a team, or writing a simple story, or just to meet a lot of amazing people! In this session of SWC, I strive to become more active than usual, so that I will be able to give a positive impression on campers to feel the same warm welcome as I did when I first joined. I can also tab in to their profiles and check on them every once in a while too!

“Therefore, Sensei”
“you're the only one I can trust.”
“Only you can free us from this twisted, distorted fate”

After all, a community is a space where everyone's interests align, so I don't want anyone to feel left out from the fun!

“So, Sensei”

I also want to create a memorable cabin experience for campers to be able to help open up to people, explore multiple opportunities. But most of all…

“Please”

To be able to experience the same positive experience as I did all those years!

Cabin Atmosphere

A.
“a place where campers can work towards their own goals, yet have fun and meet plenty new friends along the way!” (21 words 111 characters)

B.
Since I might be leading in TCTWNW, I want the campers to not focus too much on the competition side of things. Thus, I wanted to include a special collaborative style story where campers are given a plot which will be shared to another camper, who then continues the story. I actually got this idea from one of my previous sessions, which was really fun to do! I also have plenty of other ideas that could engage the campers whether or not I'm co-leading TCTWNW (like having a “choose your own adventure” prompt, our own cabin mascot or even some plot twist that we can bring up within the cabin storyline itself!)

Checkboxes

A.
✓ I will be able to help add points in the Main Cabin consistently throughout camp.
☐ I’m willing to share a promotional project for SWC.
✓ I’m willing to put the camper signups link in my “About Me” or “What I’m Working On” on my Scratch Profile.

B.
None, I should be able to uphold every responsibility listed! (after all, that's what Sensei would do!)

app feedback for mouse

this is just a series of quick notes on each section, but if you'd like a more in-depth critique anywhere/have any questions, don't hesitate to let me know!!

about me
- nothing much to say here! it looks amazing and showcases your personality really nicely

experience
- this section is good because it shows how much experience you have, but it's also quite long. it's fine to keep it like that if you're not sure you can condense or summarize any areas, but if there are any places you can trim it a little, it might streamline it a bit
- other than that, one sentence jumped out at me at the very end — “I wouldn’t consider myself to be all that great at writing, I’m always having fun and striving to improve!!” — it seems to be missing a “but” or similar word after the comma

cabin prefs
- no notes here!

time dedication + management
- “Camp has also helped get me to sit down and get things done, no matter how annoying they might be, because at camp if your paperwork didn’t get done on time, it would put a drag on the system and make you look bad.” I would consider shortening this sentence or breaking it up somehow, because having to navigate long sentences like this is slow and often confusing for the reader
- “…But ONLY if I work.)…” Small grammar note here! Since this is part of a sentence, the period inside the parentheses isn't needed.
- everything else looks awesome!

communication + accountability
- this section looks amazing as-is; no notes here

scenario
- For the scenario you picked, this is a really minor thing, but part of the question said something like “how do you ensure no one feels blamed” — seeing just a touch more elaboration on this, even if it's just a sentence or two, would help enhance the picture being formed of how you would handle the issue

swc impact
- Perfect! Zero adjustments to suggest; this section is beautiful

cabin atmosphere
- Minor thing again, but for some reason this sentence: “I’ll interact with my campers, cause chaos, and encourage them to do point earning activities if they are able by creating rewards for getting certain amounts done” is bugging me — I think it's something about the wording of the final part. Maybe try rewording it and seeing how that looks? Something along the lines of “…encourage them to earn points if they're able by creating rewards for doing a certain amount of activities” — obviously, it doesn't have to look exactly like that, but maybe something like that

checkboxes + bonus question + conclusion
- no notes here, everything looks fine!!

I'm really excited to see the finished version of your app!! Your answers are amazing as always, and I know you'd be a huge asset to any team you joined <33 Best of luck, and I hope this helped!!

kat's co-leader app –– swc november 2026

about me:
Hiya, everyone! I’m Kat (she/her pronouns), and it’s nice to meet you! I reside in the wonderful timezone of IST, or UTC +5:30. To describe me in one sentence, I’m a STEM-loving chaotic zoologist who loves cats and strives to save Planet Earth. It’s a big goal, but worth it!

I love cats, books, writing (:0), music, the piano, and any animal in the world, really!

Books have been a constant in my life for as long as I can remember. Curling up in a corner with a good story to dive into is another kind of magic! My favorite genre is fantasy– where I get to see realms full of dragons, wizards, magic, your mind’s the limit! Books have shaped my perspective of the world entirely. The characters inspire me, and the themes make me think! Reading is actually what inspired me to start writing. Some of my favorite books are Six of Crows (the writing, the diversity, the worldbuilding, oh my gosh!!), A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, and Wings of Fire (dragons :0)!

I’ve always been amazed at the ability to convert words into emotions, paint a thousand pictures all with text on a page. I aspire to change hearts with my writing– become an author, and show my stories to the world! It started out as a distant dream, but as I come closer to finish my first complete attempt at a novel, it’s coming true!

Like I mentioned before, I also love the piano!! I only actually started playing a few months ago; before that, I was only practicing sheet music and getting familiar with the keys. Now that I’ve joined music club, I’m spending a lot more time playing– and I absolutely adore it! I hope to advance my skills in the future, and continue to play regularly.

I’m also a hardcore Spider-Man fan (notice how I’m not there when Spider-Man’s around), as you can tell from this app theme! My favorite movies from the franchise are Into the Spiderverse and the Amazing Spider-Man. (Psst… you should go watch it :zany: )

Anyways, that’s it for this section! I hope it helped you know me better. Thank you for reading, and if you ever want to chat, I’m always open to meet new people!!
experience:
This session will mark my tenth session! That’s pretty insane– I don’t even know where the time flew by, just that every single one was fun and memorable in its own way! Here’s a compilation of all my sessions:

November ‘23 - Adventure - Camper
March ‘24 - Fairy Tales - Camper
July ‘24 - Fantasy - Camper
November ‘24 - Dystopian - Camper
March ‘25 - Myth - Co-leader (+ polar bear cub)
July ‘25 - Horror - Co-leader (+polar bear cub)
November ‘25 - Fantasy - Camper
March ‘26 - Lyric - Camper (+ polar bear cub)
July ‘26 - Fantasy - Leader (+ polar bear cub + memory book committee)

Wow– that was quite a trip down memory lane! Being a (co)leader is pretty different from what I imagined– when I was a first-time camper, my leaders seemed scary, but awesome! I got that last part right– everyone on the leadership team has always been nothing but amazing. Last session, I was a leader for the first time, and it seemed pretty overwhelming at first, with having to choose co-leaders, being the hosts’ point of contact, and other leader-exclusive tasks. But I managed to step up and take more responsibility, and now, I’m proud of what we created! I learnt so many skills– completing my responsibilities, trusting my team, when and how to be firm and respectful, and collating ideas!

Other leadership experiences include being an admin for a popular Scratch roleplay, directing the Critter Chronicles, a nature podcast, and handling school group projects. Each of these made a mark, and taught me that one of the most important things in leadership is collaboration– a leader doesn’t give orders, or boss people around, they work /with/ their companions.

As for writing, I’m nearing 200 pages of my first (finished) novel. While I might not have won any awards, I’ve had 7+ years of experience in writing– my stories mean the world to me, even the thousand random ideas I never got to expand on!
cabin preferences:
I’d be delighted to be a part of something with a high stakes storyline, but I would also love to try something new and go for a more relaxed vibe this time around. For genres, thriller, mystery, paranormal, and historical fiction are some cabins I would be ecstatic to explore! On the other hand, I would prefer not to co-lead magical realism, romance, or non-fiction– while I do like reading about these genres, I think I have limited experience in writing about them/ would not be comfortable in that genre. That being said, I would be honored to receive an offer from any cabin, and would think each over equally!

As for TCTWNW, I would love to co-lead it! This session, I want to focus more on my personal goals rather than just the leaderboard, so it would actually be my top preference!
time dedication + management:
PART A–
I expect to be able to spend one and a half hour on SWC everyday! During November, I’ll be returning to school after midterm break. School will be pretty relaxed, but I will have extracurriculars such as badminton that might slightly limit my activity. Nothing major, though. For the planning months, I will be having midterms late September and early October, so those will be my top priority. During that time, I would try to log in at least once a day to check on forum updates! They start from around the 25th of September, so my activity will be lower, but I can complete all the basic requirements!

PART B–
My biggest skills in time management are my ability to adapt to changes in plan, and dividing up tasks. I’ve been improving these over time, and now, they help me a lot!

Evening out tasks was something I actually used to struggle with. I would always schedule work well, but following it was the hard part. But with a combination of willpower, reward systems, and a healthy bit of determination, I can stay true to a list. This has helped immensely with last-minute bursts, which used to burn me out. By evenly spacing out tasks, I can get things done before the deadline and take care of myself at the same time!

As for adaptability, when new commitments come up out of the blue, I can quickly change plans. By utilizing my remaining free time, or working with more concentration, I can complete things before the deadline. I also have a knack for finding solutions– even if I can’t finish it in the time left behind, I try to find ways to work on it even when I don’t have my device with me, like on a notebook if I have something to write down, or on a phone.

When that’s not possible, I prioritize based on how important each task is, and how many people would be affected. The motivation to do a task is much stronger when I have people who depend on me. I can be forgetful sometimes– but I’m working on it, and the checklists I’m making are really helping out. Nowadays, I have a much clearer mind, and when it gets cluttered, I try to sort things out item by item! Of course, I’m not invincible to absent-mindedness, but I suppose that’s just part of being human! Aside from that, I will try my best to keep everything organized.
communication style + accountability:
I would describe my communication style as semi-formal! I treat my leadership team as friends instead of ‘work’ colleagues, and try to keep the mood positive and friendly at all times. I avoid conflict as much as possible, while still voicing my opinions, because hurting someone’s feelings is the worst case situation for me– so, I aim to be as respectful as possible, reading over my message several times to make sure that my tone is clear and everything I say follows the Scratch guidelines!
When suggesting ideas, I try to accommodate everyone’s plans– the main thing I strive for in cabin planning is to ensure everyone feels rewarded and included! I always listen and check if a team member is alright with a decision or idea before following up with it. I can sometimes be hesitant while proposing my ideas, but I’m working on being more confident while maintaining my open-mindedness. Also, one of my favorite things about being on a team is gradually growing closer! (Shoutout to Sage, Willow, Pepper, Nini, Vi, Skylar, and Aurora <3)

As for keeping myself accountable, I’ve devised a few creative strategies to make sure I complete all my responsibilities!

I hate letting people down, so I try prioritizing the tasks which will affect other people. However, academics and mental health are important to me, so I make sure to uphold the saying Life > SWC the best I can. I also put reminders and to-do lists around my workspace. These have helped me complete my work so much, helping with both my forgetfulness, and motivating me after a long day. I make a habit of communicating clearly, so if I ever feel too overwhelmed, I can let my team know and come up with a suitable solution.

To keep my (co)leaders accountable, I will respect their independence while also checking on their progress occasionally. There are a lot of things going on in a person’s real life, so I would give them some time before a gentle ping. I will also put my love of to-do lists to use, to avoid confusion and keep everyone’s efforts coordinated and stress-free. If the (co)leader was feeling overwhelmed, I would let them know that I (and the other members of the team, if willing) are ready to take on some of their responsibilities.
scenario D:
It’s natural to get a little behind on cabin planning! I would first complete all of my pending tasks, then send a post in the planning forum with a list of all the things we have to do, along with motivational messages to lighten the atmosphere. To get back on track, I would create a plan of action with the whole team, with clearly delegated responsibilities and set deadlines for each of us, letting each member respond to make sure everyone is included and equally comfortable with the decisions. My main emphasis would be on doing it together, to get the team spirit going, while showing that everyone is important and plays their own role! I would work on prioritizing certain tasks that would affect a camper’s experience. Additionally, I would assure everyone that they are human, and they should focus on their mental health and real life commitments first.
swc impact:
Picture this: a young girl looking for a cool place to put her writing, and then signing up as a backup for a camp called SWC, knowing it would be fun– unsuspecting of how important. Yup, that's me!

SWC has been a place where I can be myself. The people there are some of the kindest, most understanding people I’ve ever met. They’ve helped me through some of my worst moments, because having a place free from drama and negativity meant everything to me. It has shaped me to become a better person and express myself, and so much more! It has improved my leadership skills through the cabins I’ve (co)led, my writing talent through the activities and advice, mainly through the workshops which helped me understand some concepts more efficiently, and helped me communicate better through by interacting with more people. Not to mention all the wholesome chaos that never failed to light up my day.

To make a positive impact on others, I will do my best to maintain the same empathy, kindness, and fun that I always enjoyed by ensuring my messages are always respectful while starting a little bit of chaos, too. I will encourage my campers to achieve their goals, and cheer them on throughout their journey. I would foster an environment where everyone feels included and heard, by helping out when someone needs a hand, and listening when someone needs to talk. Everyone deserves to experience a blast of a session, and I would try my best to help build that!

atmosphere:
Leaderboard cabin:
“A cabin focused on bonding and writing improvement, with a tight-knit community, high-stakes storyline and light focus on the leaderboard!” -115 characters

TCTWNW cabin:
“A welcoming cabin with an engaging storyline and focus on personal goals, along with making memories and friendships to last!”-125 characters

PART B—
I would try to create this atmosphere in my cabin by making a storyline that is fun to complete, but not too stressful, with interactive activities that campers can immerse themselves in while improving their writing skills. I would spend time in my cabin daily, getting to know my campers and answering questions– basically, make it clear that they don’t have to be intimated of the leaders, or afraid to be curious! I’d also incorporate things like QOTDs or ice breakers to encourage people to interact.
checkboxes:
Part A–
☑ I will be able to help add points in the Main Cabin consistently throughout camp
☑ I’m willing to share a promotional project for SWC
☑ I’m willing to put the campers signups link in my “About Me” or “What I’m Working On” on my Scratch profile

Part B–
Nope! <3
bonus:
Ooh this is such an interesting question!! Well, I would definitely want my mask to be a black cat (*meows in mYsTeRy*), and for the dress, maybe a droopy one with long sleeves? Am I going to trip on it– yes. But do I think that would look awesome– also yes!

Fab's (co-)leader application! (1,603 words)

About Me

Hi! You can call me Fab or Flamingo!

I did pick up crochet a while ago, but it never really clicked with me after I tried and failed to create a granny square blanket!

In real life, I haven't had any leading experience yet, but I'm always up for gaining some in future.

SWC Megathread ‧₊˚❀༉‧ July 2026

silky's co-leader application ₊˚ ✴︎ ˚₊ swc november 2026

introduction
hello, hi, and a pleasant meeting you, my fellow viewers!~ the name is silky, and i formally welcome you to my spectacularly whimsical co-leader (abbreviated as swc ;D) application! i am an artistic person with an istj personality type, living in the land of est and i use the pronouns she/they! <3 i spend most of my time behind a screen (my screen time is quite unwell </3), going on websites such as scratch, talking with my friends, and practicing digital art!

one of my biggest interests is hoyoverse games, specifically honkai: star rail and genshin impact! in my personal opinion, the designs and backstories of the characters are simply top tier. additionally, the world building is incredibly immersive, and there’s room for creative liberty to create your own ocs for the universe as well! as you can probably tell, one of my favorite characters from hsr is sparxie – although she isn’t my top favorite just yet – as i love her personality and design, especially the many references to alice in wonderland and popular internet memes she has all over her clothes! i can spend forever talking about characters from these amazing apps but for the sake of time, i’ll end this little rant for now and move on to my next point of interest, art! :eyes:

i love love love art <3 despite my struggle with it sometimes, i adore drawing. it is simply such a relaxing hobby of mine, and something i often do to rewind and relax from a stressful day. i feel like i improved so much from when i first started art, both traditionally and digitally! i remember struggling with certain mediums but now i feel more confident in them, such as watercolor and charcoal ;D currently, i’m studying anatomy and perspective to be able to draw more realistically in my artworks <3 while i can confidently say i’m not perfect, i am proud of myself for relentlessly pursuing improvement over the past years and never giving up on art entirely!

with all that said, i hope that you learned a bit more about me and feel free to discuss with me about any of my hobbies!

participation
if i am remembering correctly, i believe this november marks my 13th session of swc! over these past years, swc has influenced me in so many ways and i am eternally grateful for every opportunity that i’ve received.

  • march 2022 fairy tales (backup camper)
  • july 2022 hi-fi (camper, dropped out)
  • july 2023 contemptatory (camper)
  • november 2023 fairy tales (camper)
  • march 2024 epistolary (co-leader)
  • july 2024 horror (co-leader)
  • november 2024 mystery (camper, inactive)
  • march 2025 thriller (camper, inactive)
  • july 2025 fantasy (camper, inactive)
  • november 2025 fantasy (camper, inactive)
  • march 2026 fantasy (camper)
  • july 2026 myth (co-leader, daily team, point adder, artist for 4th weekly)

(asjdkajhd why did i remove myself from the cabin studios back then :sob: this was so hard to track)

each session has taught me something new and has played a tremendous impact on my life in and out of scratch <3 take the march 2024 session as an example! it was my first time co-leading and i was able to witness the behind the scene work and the effort it takes to set up swc ;D or the july 2024 session, where my fellow (co-) leaders and i worked hard to create an alternate theme in the middle of the session! i loved every session that i’ve participated in and i hope to continue having an amazing time in swc.

i’ve also participated in other camps, such as src and camp tropiland. unfortunately this was very long ago and i don’t remember all the camps i’ve participated in </3

outside of scratch, i’ve tutored several kids, presented in some fairs, and took part of student council once ;0 i certainly won’t say i’m the best at presenting nor tutoring, but i enjoyed these activities nonetheless! they’ve taught me how to be patient when explaining, how to present my ideas more efficiently, and definitely made me more responsible as a person! <3

preferences
as this is a co-leader only app, i am fine with co-leading any cabin! <3 as much as i would love to try and complete a cabin genre bingo (so i have less of a preference towards myth, epistolary, and horror), i would honestly be happy with an offer to any cabin! i consider myself a very versatile and adaptable person (also i’m pretty indecisive on my preferences :sob: ) so i’m fine with anything.

as for tctwnw, i would prefer not to co-lead it this session as i enjoy the friendly competition of swc, and wish to camp in tctwnw before having the chance to co-lead it.

time management + dedication
i will try my best to dedicate around 30 minutes a day to scratch during september to november, with the number increasing more on weekends and less on weekdays. currently, i don’t have any events/vacations planned, which means this number should be consistent throughout the session. as always, the main contributor for my limits is due to schoolwork, homework, and extracurriculars, taking up the majority of my time <//3. additionally, i’m currently trying to adjust to a new school environment (i just moved schools ajdskhj) so i unfortunately do not have a clear estimate of how much schoolwork i’ll have :,) but i’ll be sure to notify the team if my activity levels seem to be dropping or if something unexpected happens!

now for my time management skills and shortcomings! while i’m definitely not the best at managing my time, i’m still proud of the habits i’ve developed and how far i’ve come in making the most of the day <3

starting with my skills, i tend not to procrastinate. i prefer finishing and completing tasks before the deadline and submitting everything at least a day in advance ^^ this not only gives me peace of mind (so i won’t have to worry about accidentally forgetting to submit), but also allows me to have time to correct my mistakes if i made one. as a result, i’m able to avoid delays and put more effort into my work (since i’m not rushing everything last minute), allowing me to finish everything more effectively!

despite this i still get easily distracted. i always have that urge to click off into another tab and end up spending way longer than needed to finish something. i go off track and end up spending way longer than needed to complete something :sob: honestly, this habit is quite difficult for me to overcome <//3 whenever i try and focus, i end up always going back to getting distracted. i do think that closing unnecessary tabs have helped prevent me getting sidetracked, but i haven’t completely gotten rid of this habit unfortunately :,) with that said, i hope that i can tackle and fix my issues with getting distracted this session by trying new techniques i found online, such as downloading an extension that prevents me from visiting other sites.

additionally, i also struggle with motivational issues. my motivation levels often fluctuate – sometimes i feel incredibly excited to finish something, and other times i feel exhausted and want to give up. this causes me to put less effort in my work and spend more time completing something when i’ve lost motivation. although i’ve been attempting to combat this by planning everything, breaking things into chunks so i don’t feel overwhelmed, and rewarding myself whenever i finish something, it’s still a hard challenge for me to overcome and definitely one that i’m working on.

speaking of planning, i am an avid planner <3 i enjoy spreading my workload into multiple pieces over several days in a best attempt to prevent my motivational issues (said above!). planning also allows me to stay organized and keep the time i spent on a task consistent, ensuring that i won’t stay fixated on one detail and look at the general picture instead, distributing my time evenly, and helping me with managing my time.

communication and accountability
i believe i’m a very easygoing and adaptable person when working in a team, making my communication style incredibly versatile! ;D one of my biggest (and something i’m quite proud of) strengths is my ability to adapt when collaborating. this allows me to let others choose first, which is definitely useful for making sure everyone’s voices are heard and allows the team to communicate more effectively. of course, the flip side of this means i’m (unfortunately) a pushover. i have a bad habit of not sticking up for my beliefs and opinions which impacts my overall communication style. while i’m trying my best to overcome this fear by reminding myself about how majority of the time, no one will take it personally, it’s still something i struggle with <//3 on the brighter side, i believe i’m quite good at compromises, which is helpful for avoiding arguments and whatnot! for instance, if two team members are arguing about whether or not to include something in a project, i can suggest that we can alternate between including and not including it. of course, this is a mere example – real-life situations are often more complicated, but i’ll still try my best to find a middle ground that fulfills everyone’s interests.

as to hold myself accountable, i’ll make sure to clearly communicate everything. i’ll remind myself to check in the planning forum every day/when i get a notification to make sure i didn’t miss anything and make sure to build a habit of responding to everyone. i can achieve either by setting up an alarm, or by checking scratch everyday so i can get pinged if there’s a new post in the planning form. i will try and do my best to follow all of my tasks on time by planning tasks and breaking them down into chunks. additionally, when volunteering for tasks, i’d make sure to check with myself if i’m doing too much or too little, to ensure that everyone feels that they are contributing! i often struggle with taking on too many things at once and stressing over completing it, which is why i hope to notify everyone as soon as possible when i am unable to finish something. i recognize that it’s important to take accountability and to have a clear estimate of my skills and abilities when working in a team, and i hope my communication and habits can reflect this saying.

the same principle goes for holding others accountable! i’ll check in once in a while to make sure everything is flowing smoothly and to make sure everything can be submitted before the deadline! i’ll make sure all the tasks are divided equally – for the other members and me – so no one feels stressed/overwhelmed with what they have to complete. if we are rapidly approaching the deadline and someone hasn’t submitted/completed a task yet, i’ll make sure to ping them first in case they forgot! if they are unable to complete it (which is understandable, as problems can unexpectedly arise sometimes!) i’ll try and find a workaround (such as asking how much they completed and seeing if the rest of the team could build from there).

accountability is an essential part of communicating in a team, and i’ll try my best to hold myself and others accountable when participating in discussions, collaborating for activities, etc. ^^

scenarios

scenario c:

first, i would ask the camper if they can share proof of when they’ve written it (eg. on google docs you can see the history of the document, which can show you when words were written). if they cannot share when the words were written, i would bring it up with the host and follow their advice, as i believe it falls in more of a gray area ^^. however, if they are able to share the timestamp, i would still add only 10k at a time as stated by the rules post. if they state a reason for why they were unable to add words in over 2 weeks (such as losing access to scratch), i would redirect them to a host to see if an exception can be made and if all the words can be added at the same time!

swc impact
i truly think i speak for all of us when i say that swc is a lifechanging experience that has impacted our lives in so many ways <3 i remember the first session i signed up for and although i was quite young, i was still surprised by how welcoming and open everyone was! despite my immaturity back then, i was encouraged to participate and even won a most likely to, something i was quite proud of. i wish for campers to experience the same welcoming experience simply because it’s the right thing for me to do <3. judging and being hostile to one another creates an unfriendly atmosphere that no one should experience. my history for swc has opened so many doors of opportunity in my life, and i want others to know how that feels like too <3 i’ll try to create this open atmosphere by responding to everyone, engaging in friendly conversations, and encouraging discussions between campers. additionally, i would remind campers not to judge others for their hobbies, style, and etc.! swc is an incredibly open and welcoming community and i’ll try my best to maintain that atmosphere during my time co-leading!

to add on, swc has also changed my feelings towards writing altogether. back when i first signed up, i remembered feeling quite indifferent to writing. my writing style was mediocre and boring, and i was quite stuck on how to improve it. when i completed my first daily, however, i was hit with a spark of motivation for writing. i feel like after my first session of swc, my writing has drastically improved and i’ve become more passionate towards writing as a whole. when assigned with a play for a homework assignment, i remembered writing 12 pages in a fit of joy after my first session <3 it was a feeling that i don’t think i could’ve replicated if i hadn’t joined swc. this experience has motivated me to teach others about writing so they’ll also feel this spark of motivation as well. i know how it feels to give up on a skill that i’m bad at, and do not wish for anyone to feel that way towards writing. with that said, i intend to encourage this same feeling by reminding campers that life > swc to prevent burnout, giving advice in case a camper is feeling stuck (although admittedly i’m not the best at writing either </3) and overall trying my best to encourage positive growth and improvement!

swc has impacted my life so much as a whole, and i wish to share everything that swc has given me to everyone else, in this session and beyond <3

atmosphere
“a fun and immersive cabin, filled with activities and storylines to encourage both friendships and friendly competition” (119 characters)

i plan on fostering and maintaining this atmosphere by creating and motivating campers to participate in cabin and swc-wide activities <3 i would encourage icebreakers to motivate campers to share more about themselves, which hopefully can create friendly discussions between campers about their hobbies and interests! additionally, i plan on supporting friendly competition by reminding everyone about the leaderboard and activities in the main cabin, which can draw interest and encourage everyone to participate. to make sure that the competition is still friendly, i would remind everyone to not feel too stressed about the leaderboard as there is no award for winning. i also hope to discuss with the leadership team about potential activities, such as hangman and crosswords for the cabin to further immerse the campers in swc.

checklists

  • i will be able to help add points consistently in the main cabin throughout camp: ✓
  • i’m willing to share a promotional project for swc: depends on how much free time i have
  • i’m willing to put the camper signups link in my scratch profile: ✓
  • i’m able to complete all leadership responsibilities: ✓

bonus
as a lover of dresses, i definitely want my dream masquerade outfit to incorporate a beautiful black gown (with lots of frills!) and gold jewelry! of course, i’ll definitely want to wear a masquerade mask and probably a veil as well to top everything off! <3

Hihihi! I’m Liv, (any/all), a fifteen year old kiwi with a love of coffee, books and sharks. If I’m not reading or watching TV, I’m out in the outdoors, hiking, camping and exploring.

As mentioned above, I love to read! This year, I’ve been aiming to read 100 books, and while I’m slightly behind on that goal, it has been an awesome motivator to help me get back into reading and discover some of my favourite books. Most days, I have my nose buried in a book, trying to work my way through my ever-increasing ‘to be read’ list.

As well as reading, I love to spend time outdoors! Whilst I’m not a super sporty person, I do enjoy hiking, and have been on many different hikes over the past few years. Hiking has taught me so much about being self-sufficient and responsible, and has only added to my love of the wilderness. I’m hoping to do Abel Tasman and Tongariro Crossing within the next few years, and hopefully the Pinnacles with my friends over the summer.

I love spending time with my friends, and I’ve spent the last year building up incredible friendships, with people who I’d do anything for. They’re a huge part of my life, and I always take the time to spend time with them, whenever possible. We do all sorts of social activities together, from thrifting and baking to movies and board games, and I wouldn’t trade them for the world.

Experience

This November will be my 10th session of SWC, officially making me double digits ;) -I have co–led and led three times each, and camped three times, although it’s been a while ^^

July ‘23 | Hi-Fi | Camper
Nov ‘23 | Dystopian | Camper
July ‘24 | Mystery | Camper
Nov ‘24 | Sci-Fi | Co-leader
March ‘25 | Thriller | Co-leader | Polar Bear Cub, Memory Book Committee
July ‘25 | Utopian | Leader | Polar Bear, Memory Book Committee
Nov ‘25 | Fantasy | Co-leader | Polar Bear Cub, Memory Book Committee
March ‘26 | Paranormal | Leader | Memory Book Crow, Panelist
July ‘26 | Realistic Fiction (TCTWNW) | Leader | Memory Book Host, Polar Bear

Over the past few years of SWC, I have learnt a lot about communication, leadership and collaboration. From TCTWNW last session, where my team focused on curating a laid-back atmosphere, to Paranormal the session before, with competitive vibes and an intricate, well-developed storyline. Each of these sessions have helped me develop myself and learn my place in group settings, and I’m so proud to have been a part of each of these cabins.

To elaborate more on these sessions, I’d like to talk about Paranormal from March of this year. Paranormal was an incredibly fun cabin, and I was honoured to be leading alongside Toko and Elly. Together, we developed a detailed, complex storyline and a beautiful cabin. Midway through the session however, camper interaction was low, and we managed to connect it to our storyline being too complicated. We worked together to implement alternatives, and while Paranormal’s storyline never got completed, it was a great learning experience about what to expect from cabins and being ready to adapt to any scenario.

The other cabin I led this year was Realistic Fiction in July (last session). Real-fi was almost a complete 180 from Paranormal, with a low stakes storyline, laid back activities and a more writing focused goal over competition. Being a part of TCTWNW was a huge learning experience for me, and it taught me a lot about being able to step back, and take a break. Last session I learnt how to put myself first, which is something that I’d love to promote in a cabin again.

Outside of SWC, my leadership experience is slightly more limited. In real life, I do my best to search out opportunities that will teach me and help me grow. For example, Rangers (Girl Guiding) has provided me with many opportunities over the years. I have organized events for my unit, ranging from shorter activities to themed nights, and I have done a lot of volunteering through it, which has taught me a lot about pressure, responsibility and getting involved.

Relatively recently, I led and organised a multiple night camp for my ranger unit. I arranged all of the accommodation, food, pricing, activities, safety procedures and then ran and led the camp over three days. It was an incredible learning experience, and I’m currently planning my next.

Beyond Rangers, I’m also a part of the team who run the Student Volunteer Army at my school, where we arrange volunteering events for students at school and make it accessible to them. I’ve helped to organise things like the haunted house and international women's day events, and I’m a part of a number of clubs, all who have taught me about working in groups and being a part of a community.

Writing wise, I’ve been to two writing festivals, which were absolutely incredible to attend, and entered a few different writing competitions over the years. I’ve been working on improving my writing, with a focus on short stories and poems, and it’s been amazing to see how I’ve improved.

────────────────

Cabin Preferences

As co-leader, I would be honoured to be a part of any cabin, regardless of genre. That being said, I would do best in a cabin genre that I’m familiar with, with themes along the lines of Folklore, Dystopian or Historical-Fiction. I interact most with these genres, and would be able to contribute more due to prior knowledge and confidence with the content.

That being said, I would be more than open to challenging myself in a less familiar cabin, and I’ve had so much fun in cabins like Sci-Fi and Thriller in the past. I find that who you’re working with is just as important as what you’re working on, and so I’d be delighted to be in any genre, aiding a leader in bringing their ideas to life.

In regards to TCTWNW, I’d definitely be open to co-leading it. I had an absolute blast leading it last session, and I loved the laidback, community centred vibes. If the option came up, I’d be more than happy to be a part of that environment again.

────────────────

Time Management and Dedication

A -
I will be able to dedicate about 1-2 hours a day to my cabin, with slightly more on weekends, closer to 2-3 hours.

That being said, I do have quite a busy few months ahead. I will only be on for about half an hour on Tuesdays due to Rangers, and I will be almost entirely inactive on Fridays due to Pathfinders. Additionally, although not confirmed, I may have lacrosse practice at some point during the week.

I will also have camps on these days, which I will be inactive for:
26-27 September
16-17 October
6-8 November

Despite this, I am confident that I will be able to dedicate the appropriate amount of time, and know that these factors will not significantly impact my activity, as I will still be active on all other days.

B -
I have quite a few different ways that I manage my time, and it's something that I’ve spent a while finding out what works best for me. One of my main tactics is to create a checklist or to-do list where I can visually see what needs to be done, and prioritize accordingly. By doing this, I keep myself from becoming overwhelmed by my tasks and to have a better understanding of my time management. I like to do this on both a weekly scale, by organizing what I will be doing each day of the week, and at a day by day scale, working hour by hour in completing tasks. Alongside this, I also like to split my work into smaller chunks, and reward myself with snacks and short breaks when I finish each.

────────────────

Communication and Accountability

I am someone who considers communication to be one of my greatest strengths. It is incredibly important to me that I can understand others' views and share ideas with them, and so I do my best to be as open as I can. This means my communication style is very straightforward and honest, as I don’t tend to say things that I don’t mean. That being said, I always prioritize kindness and inclusivity when working with others, and so I happily listen and add onto others ideas.

When I’m in a SWC team, I always try to promote community and self-care before anything else. I think that one of the best things you can get from leading a cabin is the memories, and I want everyone in the cabin to come away with positive ones. This means that I tend to encourage relaxed answers, silly jokes and opportunities to get to know each other better beyond the cabin. I am not an overly formal person, and tend to prefer addressing others in a more relaxed tone, rather than upholding distance from my team.

In order to hold myself accountable, I like to set hard deadlines for myself, and work to meet them within the time frame I’ve set. I create to-do lists (as detailed in Time Management + Dedication) that I use to help set and navigate these deadlines, and I check in with my team members and myself to see how I’m doing. I especially take the time to assess my self-care, like if I’ve been drinking enough water and sleeping at appropriate times. I make sure to hold myself accountable to those standards too.

I do the same to hold others accountable, checking in every few days about self-care and life, and generally seeing how my team is doing. I also like to create detailed to-do lists to help others (and myself) to stay on time and on track. These tend to include deadlines, additional notes and assignments on them, to help keep everyone organised and from feeling overwhelmed. If they’re struggling to hold themselves accountable, I talk to them about how I can help, whether by taking some of their workload, reassessing plans or checking in with them more often.

────────────────

Scenarios

D - your leadership team has fallen behind on cabin planning and everyone is starting to get really stressed. How would you help the team get organised without making anyone feel blamed?

In this scenario, I would take the time to send out a note recognising this issue, and providing my thoughts on this dilemma. This note would include:
- Highlighting the issue that I’d noticed, in this scenario being cabin planning
- Breaking down the issue by detailing what our plans are and what needs to be done, with acknowledgments to deadlines and already completed work
- Providing my personal thoughts on the matter, whether that be suggestions about altering deadlines, cutting the workload or reassigning tasks
- Asking about my teams thoughts on the matter

Assuming everyone responds, we would go from there to listen to discuss and develop a plan going forwards. That plan might include:
- Cutting down our plans for the cabin
- Setting certain times or dates to work on things together
- Posting in the forum about what work we’ve done more often in order to hold ourselves accountable
- Reassigning or switching certain assignments and jobs
- Prioritising the parts of our cabin that need to be finished in a more timely manner or that are necessary for our cabin

I’d also include a prioritisation of self-care throughout the plan, to ensure that nobody’s sacrificing their lives and mental health in order to complete their work.

In order not to place the blame or anyone or invoke any feelings of guilt in anyone I would:
- Emphasize that it’s a part of planning, and that it’s a good way to learn our limits
- Make use of ‘we’, ‘us’, and similar plural words to centre the issue on the team rather than an individual
- Focus on solutions rather than the negatives or getting caught up on who’s fault it is

If I’m worried that someone is feeling blamed, I would reach out to them privately and talk to them about how they’re feeling, assuring them that it’s not their fault.

────────────────

SWC Impact

SWC has had an incredible impact on me. From the moment I joined, I knew that it was going to be a huge part of my life, and I was right. SWC has helped shape me into the person I am today, and I am eternally grateful for this community.

For example, I wouldn’t have joined Model United Nations if it wasn’t for SWC, but due to encouragement from friends and a huge increase in confidence from working as a co-leader, I did. And it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Alongside MUN, I’ve also done more volunteering, led irl camps, joined clubs, improved public speaking, made new friends, and become a better person.

None of this would have happened if I hadn’t been a part of SWC, and for that I can’t thank everyone enough.

I want to give back to the community as much as I can, so that I can make the same positive changes in the community that were made in me. I hope to do this by being a friendly and approachable person, so that campers feel comfortable coming up to me and striking up conversation. I’ll be checking in with people, and making an active effort to participate. Alongside this, I’ll also make an effort to listen to others' requests and feedback, and do what I can to improve their SWC experience for them. Above all though, I will be kind.

────────────────

Cabin Atmosphere

A -
A cabin focused on participation, encouraging campers to write, engage with the storyline, and be a part of the community, whilst striving for a healthy sense of competition.
(176 characters)

B -
I will foster and maintain this atmosphere by encouraging campers to take part in the storyline, through reminders, fun little activities and rewards, and participate myself, in order to lead by example. Carrying on with the ‘lead by example’ endeavour, I will make sure to do QOTD’s, SWC activities like dailies and weeklies, and share my self-care achievements, in order to encourage the same behaviour from my campers. I’ll also make sure to share my aspirations for the session, and encourage casual conversation and a competitive atmosphere.

────────────────

Checkboxes

A -
(x) I will be able to add points consistently throughout camp
(x) I’m willing to share a promotional project for SWC
( ) I’m willing to put the camper signups link in my “about me’ or ‘what I’m working on’ on my scratch profile

B -
There are none I cannot complete

────────────────

Bonus

My dream masquerade outfit would be an all black, flowy suit, with dark bejewelled accents as well as a large amount of silver jewellery. My hair would be down, with small braids with silver jewellery through them. I would have a black masquerade mask modelled after a ram, with silver jewellery on the horns. And I would have two red poppies, one at the base of one of my horns, and the other pinned to my lapel.

q.1 : About Yume - 520 words

Hii! I’m Yume, I use she/her pronouns, and I live in the timezone of EST/EDT! I’ve been in SWC since March 2021, and this session will be my thirteenth. Besides writing, some of my other hobbies include singing, dancing, drawing, graphic design, design of all kinds, playing video games, sleeping, and trying different kinds of bread! If it wasn’t extremely obvious already, bread is one of my favourite foods alongside yakisoba, udon, liangmian, noodles of pretty much any kind, mooncakes, fenglisu, tangerine jelly… the list goes on. Food aside, I’m also a big fan of idols, which is probably a given considering the app theme… more on music taste later on though :,)

I’ve had a passion for design and frankly all visual and audio-based media since a young age, whether it be art, graphic design, video editing, making song covers, among others! When I’m not asleep, at school, or writing, there’s a 90% chance you’d find me doing one of the above during my spare hours. Unfortunately, media isn’t really a good career path especially where I live, so I’m moreso looking to pursue it as a side interest (including in Scratch camps) <3

Another thing I’m passionate about is musicals! Last year was my first-ever time participating in a relatively large-scale musical production hosted by my school, and it was definitely one of the most fun and memorable experiences of my life. I’m usually pretty soft-spoken and socially awkward in real life, so it definitely took some getting used to. I did only get a chorus part as expected, but I think not having too many things to memorize was actually way better anyway, and I got to help out with the production crew when the teachers were busy with the leads. There were ups and downs, but after six great runs of the show I think it was no doubt all worth it.

Speaking of anything music-related, the mandatory music taste section… I listen to quite a lot of songs from musicals and musical movies, including but not limited to Newsies, Descendants, SIX, Dear Evan Hansen, The Greatest Showman, and a bunch of Disney animated movies… come to my profile or the comments to ramble about those though, since I’m pretty sure I’ll hit the word cap if I tried to list “a few” here… :,) Besides musicals, the other genre I mostly listen to is… yup, you guessed it, Asian idol pop. And by that I mean mostly tripleS, AKB48 and their sister/rival groups, IZ*ONE, LOONA (boycotted ofc since we are not giving their company any money.)… yeah, I’m not sure why I have a thing for big groups. Being a tripleS fan (WAV) is a full time job that I should honestly list as a hobby at this point because yes, they have their own app… and NFTs… and also great music so please give them a listen ;w; And of course, I also listen to a lot of music from PJSK and therefore also Vocaloid, mostly from the unit MORE MORE JUMP! but I do listen to the other units too bahaha.

┈ ❀ ┈

q.2 : Previous Participation - 462 words

This app season marks the start of my senior year of high school, which means I’ve been making apps for close to four years now… time really flies :,) I’ve participated in a total of twelve SWC sessions so far, making this upcoming one my thirteenth! Out of these, I’ve camped four times, led three times, and co-led five times. Each one of these experiences have taught me a great deal of skills in both leadership and time management as my team and I navigated through various challenges that come up both before and during the session regarding work distribution, inactivity periods, and more.

Besides SWC, I have also led in various smaller camps, most notably Let’s Study Hard!, Scratch Photography Camp, and Scratch Design Camp. I was a host for the two most recent sessions of Let’s Study Hard!, and was the founder of the SDC reboot that started in February 2025, and this August is our fifth session since then and also my fifth session hosting. Hosting a camp has really given me a lot of great insight about how online events of this scale works. Even though SDC is a relatively small camp, it still takes the effort of many people to put together, which I learned after attempting to host a session alone for the first time and soon found it was far too much work for me alone, and so I invited a few others onto the host team and we’ve been able to keep the camp running up until now and plan to continue on this December session and onwards!

On Scratch, I have also co-founded and managed a few Scratch-pop companies, which featured managing our idols and trainees and making sure they get their parts done but also giving them lots of breathing room and reminders to take care of themselves. Under these companies, we’ve also hosted a few survival shows, which are essentially smaller-scale singing competitions within the community.

As for offline, I’ve participated in various leadership camps hosted by a local no profit organization, one during primary school and two during high school, which allowed me to connect with other aspiring community leaders my age and work together on challenges and find ways we can improve our community as teenagers. Within my neighbourhood, I’ve also volunteered at the crafts booth at my local Chinese church’s Lunar New Year event this year and the last, teaching families how to make festive crafts to take home. At school, I was a volunteer for the elementary night school language classes last year, supervising a group of twenty or so grade 1 kids every Friday night. All of these experiences allowed me to connect with other people as well as contribute to creating positive change in my community.

┈ ❀ ┈

q.3 : Cabin Preferences - 137 words

As mentioned in the description, this app is a co-only app, so there will be no cabin idea blurbs here <3 In terms of co-leading, I don’t have any concrete preferences! I will say that I’m not too comfortable with genres of horror, thriller, romance, or something along those lines, but I will consider any offer I end up getting, including for cabins that I have participated in or (co)led in the past.

In terms of TCTWNW, I am open and willing to co-leading it! Last session was my first ever experience with TCTWNW, and although I wasn’t very active then (okay, maybe that was a given ;w;), it really got me back into the spirit of writing because I enjoyed it, without the possible stress that would come with being part of a leaderboard cabin.

┈ ❀ ┈

q.4 : Time Management & Dedication - 315 words

a.
I will be able to dedicate 1-3 hours to SWC daily. This includes my lunch period, which is 75 minutes long, and any time I get after classes and homework for the day. As for extracurriculars, I have choir on Tuesdays until 5:45 p.m. EST/EDT, vocal lessons on Fridays for 45 minutes (the time fluctuates a bit every week but it’s usually around 6pm), and Japanese lessons on Saturday mornings, but if all goes as it has been last year then more than half the class is usually a work period with not that much work to finish. Those along with spontaneous weekend trips I have no control over will be my less active days, but otherwise I should be online quite often after school <3

b.
Recently, I’ve been introduced to many different tools for focusing and managing my time properly, and they’ve all worked great. Making to-do lists and prioritising work has been a thing for me since many years back as a way to keep in mind everything I need to do for the days ahead, but I find that the procrastination potatoes still manage to find their way into my schedule even if I know my priorities… To counter this, I’ve been using the pomodoro timer method, more specifically the ones on a few sites that made the experience especially engaging, whether it be growing a tree per focus session to build your garden, or just a chill lo-fi village where you’re a cute pixel bunny. When I don’t have access to a device, I’ll put snacks somewhere I can see but out of reach and only let myself eat it after I finish the work or at least work on it consecutively for a period of time, and I’ve been able to get a lot more done quickly with that kind of motivation. Food solves all problems guys…

┈ ❀ ┈

q.5 : Communication & Accountability - 274 words

I’d say my communication style is more on the informal side, generally understanding, and patient unless the situation is very urgent. I’m someone who wants to ensure that all the group’s opinions are valued and considered, so I like to encourage everyone to give their suggestions before we discuss and settle on an idea. However, if I or some members of the group find that our progress isn’t going as quickly as planned, the focus would shift a bit more to reminding my groupmates to do the work, but also making sure to let them know that they don’t need to feel too pressured and should still be taking good care of themselves throughout. And it’s also probably a good idea to mention that I don’t type in caps like this outside of leader apps and project descriptions… :,>

When I’m working on a project with others, I’d work together with the team to split up the workload to make sure everyone knows exactly what they need to finish on their part. I’m admittedly not the best at keeping myself on accountable, but one thing I’ve found helps a lot is keeping a list of things I need to get done close to me, like on a notebook I carry around or a sticky note on the edge of my laptop, along with when it’s due so I can budget my time properly to make sure I meet those deadlines. I’ll also check in with group members from time to time to see their progress while also updating them with mine, which I’ve also found great to get feedback from each other along the way.

┈ ❀ ┈

q.6 : Scenarios - 152 words

a.
Since adding any more than 10k words at once or in a day is not allowed by the SWC rules under any circumstance, I’ll first remind the camper of this and that I will not be able to add all of their words at the moment. Then, I’ll ask them to give an outline of when they wrote each of the pieces in their proof as far they can remember or estimate. If they are able to provide a reasonable schedule of when and for what cause the words were written, I’ll add a portion of the words that were written earlier and they have the outline for, up to around 5k at first and then add the remaining words after a few days. If they refuse to provide the outline, I’ll bring it up to the hosts then, ask if any of the words can be added, and proceed from there.

┈ ❀ ┈

q.7 : SWC Impact - 482 words

First of all, I think it’s very fair to say that SWC has done more than a lot to improve my writing. Before I joined SWC, I didn’t know too much about writing - English wasn’t my first language, and even though I went to an English-speaking school during then, I was never the best at it. Scratch was something I’ve been doing for a while then since we were still in the pandemic during then, and I when I somehow stumbled upon the SWC signups while browsing the site one day, I knew I had to give it a try. SWC has introduced me to so many new genres and techniques I would never otherwise have learnt in school. Because of SWC’s activities, I started writing things outside of only the fantasy stories and diary entries that I loved so much before, experimenting and finding new favourite genres and writing styles. I’ve also been a lot more confident in my writing and putting it out there.

The first time I ever made an application for SWC was the July session right before the start of high school. The previous March session was likely my most active session as a camper ever - the cabin atmosphere was great, my leaders were all super supportive, and I looked up to them a lot. My first app didn’t get accepted, but that didn’t stop me from trying, and somehow I’ve now led three cabins and co-led five. SWC taught me to never give up on something you want to pursue, and that something was none other than the amazing experience you get as a (co)leader.

Being part of a team and working together on a project is one of my favorite experiences for many reasons. As mentioned briefly in my Experience answer, I’ve tried to host a camp by myself once during February 2025. I wasn’t able to make a lot of the deadlines I set for myself since it really was a lot of work (and I definitely underestimated it…) and eventually gave up halfway through the session due to motivation loss, leaving a bunch of campers confused and asking where the activities went. On the other hand, with a team, which SWC leading teams was one of my first experiences with it online, we were able to keep each other on track during planning and the session itself, and everything ran way smoother than I could ever have done alone.

Through co-leading a cabin, I hope that I am able to pass these feelings and aspirations along to new and existing campers within the community. I would never have taken the first step into (co)leading if it weren’t for my leaders, never enjoyed the experience so much if they hadn’t put so much time and effort into creating the cabins and activities, and I think every SWC-er deserves that experience as well.

┈ ❀ ┈

q.8 : Cabin Atmosphere - 313 words

A welcoming and inclusive atmosphere with a focus on improvement and personal projects while fostering lasting bonds between cabinmates and memories to last for the years to come.
(179 characters)

It would be crazy to say that you can force people to create memories - what lingers and stays behind after any experience is completely personal and unique to each person, and while SWC-ers are known for starting chaos out of nowhere, forcing things to happen just isn't the same as actually letting things happen naturally. When I (co)lead a cabin, I always make an effort to chat with campers during the pre-session or start of camp to chat a bit and get to know them better, clear up any questions they might have, and especially for new campers to make sure they know they’ll be supported the whole way through and don’t need to worry about anything besides writing and enjoying doing it.

I first joined SWC because I felt insecure with my writing, and I don’t think it’s fair to force someone to show proof of writing they might not want anyone else to see. Unless the amount of words they’re adding is very unreasonable, I trust campers to be truthful about their word counts as long as they’re giving proper information about where they came from.

On the other hand, I’ve seen some campers feel ashamed of not being active enough to support the cabin, and that shouldn’t be the case for anyone. SWC is a camp with a competitive aspect, not a competition, and the campers should see it that way as well. Instead of posting comments about needing to do dailies and weeklies to catch up, I’d encourage my campers to take good care of themselves, take breaks between writing, get quality sleep, and make sure they’re eating properly instead of spending all their time on their notebook or computer.

┈ ❀ ┈

q.9 : Checkboxes

a.
✗ I will be able to help add points in the main cabin consistently throughout camp.
✓ I’m willing to share a promotional project for SWC.
✓ I’m willing to put the camper signups link in my “About Me” or “What I’m Working On” on my Scratch profile.

b.
No, I am confident I can complete all of the listed responsibilities.

┈ ❀ ┈

q.10 : Bonus

i’m a terrible dancer and honestly wouldn’t dare set foot in a masquerade so i think i’ll just find one of the uniforms of the people doing catering so i can taste test the food… i like food. yummy

…yes that is my actual serious answer what did you expect :sob: /lh

SWC Megathread ‧₊˚❀༉‧ July 2026

Kris/Leo's SWC (co)leader app TEXT ONLY VERSION

About Me
My name is Kris, formerly Leo. I go by any pronouns.
I am in Eastern Standard(Daylight) Time!

Previous Participation
I have participated in SWC about 4 times as a camper! I enjoy writing and have a decent experience with it.
I have led many different things online, such as voice acting DC servers and in my school I lead many clubs.

Cabin Preferences
I am willing to (co)lead any genre, however I would like to (co)lead fantasy, fanfiction, or horror.
I don’t mind the idea of (co)leading TCTWNW, but I would like to try (co)leading a competitive cabin.

Time Management and Dedication
I will dedicate at least an hour a day to SWC, but I will dedicate an hour in the mornings, afternoons, and nights on the weekends to catch up.
I would use relative reminders to remember to check on the campers. I will also make SWC one of my priorities.

Communication and Accountability
I communicate very well in group settings. They tend to help me communicate better.
I always take full responsibility for my actions, no matter what it is. I always hold others accountable for their actions as well. Being held accountable for your actions is something I strongly believe in.

Scenario D
I would try to divide and conquer. I would give each person in the team a certain part to take care of to help eliminate stress on the whole team.
For example, one person could handle setting up the cabin studio, someone else could set up the word counting group, and another person could do the thread.

SWC Impact
SWC has felt like a second family to me. Everyone has been very welcoming and super kind to each other. It’s been a great community to be a part of. SWC has also made me feel a lot more confident in my writing.
I intend to help others feel confident in their writing, while also providing a safe space for campers to write without being judged.

Cabin Atmosphere
A safe space with a bit of chaos and a lot of encouragement.
I would make sure that everyone is kind to each other and try to encourage others when they say that they feel unmotivated.

Checkboxes
✓I will be able to help add points in the Main Cabin consistently throughout camp

✓I’m willing to share a promotional project for SWC

✓I’m willing to put the camper sign ups on my profile

I am able to complete these responsibilities.

My Dream Masquerade Outfit
My dream masquerade outfit would be decorated in different blues with butterflies on the side of the mask. It would have small hints of red thread along the seams as well!

(I made some spelling mistakes in my normal version, they have been fixed here!)

SWC Megathread ‧₊˚❀༉‧ July 2026

Slope Dude ᨒ↟ nov '26 co-leader application

About Me
Hello hello! I’m Emily (she/her) and I reside in the (b)EST timezone. Here are a few things about me:

I’m a huge STEM enthusiast! I’m especially interested in how technology can be used to make really cool predictions. As a child I always thought that scientists looked really cool, so pursuing a career in these fields is basically fulfilling a childhood dream. I plan to go into electrical engineering, machine learning, or biotech.

I also enjoy reading during my free time! My favorite book currently is Project Hail Mary. I read a large variety of genres, mainly science fiction, romance, and fantasy. I just can’t do horror because I prefer to sleep at night.

Some of my favorite artists include: Bruno Mars, Laufey, wave to earth, Noah Kahan, Olivia Dean, Olivia Rodrigo, and Harry Styles. I also love musicals! My geography teacher introduced Hamilton to me when I was in middle school and I’m never going back. Currently I really enjoy Little Shop of Horrors and Wicked.

My current show obsessions are Adults and Heated Rivalry. Binge-watching shows is my go to passing time late into the night. My all time favorite show is Modern Family. I will absolutely pull an all-nighter if you give me a show to watch.

Experience
Starting with my experience on Scratch. I’ve been in seven sessions, six as a camper and one as a co-leader:

Adventure, July 2021
Hi-Fi, November 2021
Sci-Fi, July 2024
Bi-Fi, November 2024
Illu-Fi, March 2025
Gothic, July 2025 (as co-leader)
Psycho-Fi, November 2025
Myth, July 2026

As for my leadership experience off Scratch, I’m a STEM advocate representing my school. My goal is to engage my peers and community to get excited about STEM and hopefully pursue a career in this field. Through this position I’ve had to plan large events and work with a variety of people, including: career professionals, teachers, and students. I also am part of the leadership council where I plan and train other STEM advocates from many different areas.

At my school, I also am part of the computer science team where we compete at local universities. There aren’t any captains or presidents but I make sure to contribute my part to collaborate with my team to solve the most problems.

Lastly, I’m currently working with a team at my school to develop a product for a competition. The competition involves engineering, science, business, and public speaking. Through this experience so far, I’ve learned how to leverage each member’s unique strengths and working styles.

Cabin Preferences
It would be an honor to co-lead any cabin. I don’t have many preferences on which cabins I would like to be in. However, genres I would prefer not to co-lead include horror, thriller, or any adjacent one. I don’t have much experience and don’t think I would be able to contribute much meaningful ideas to these genres.

I would rather not co-lead TCTWNW.

Time Management and Dedication
A.
I’m able to dedicate 30-45 minutes, not including writing time, to SWC during the weekdays and 1 hour during the weekends. That would just be baseline, as I predict that it might be more.

During the months of planning and camp, my main commitment will be school and homework. Along with that, my swim season is in full swing during these months, meaning two hour practices Monday-Saturday.

In September/October, my only other commitments are swim meets once or twice a week. I’ll also have homecoming and rivalry week but that shouldn’t affect my activity on Scratch.

In November, my only big commitment I know of is a big swim meet during the first week of November. I will be gone the whole day for prelims and finals, and I’ll make sure to notify my team when this happens. Once that meet is over, my swim season will be finished. Other than that, I do have Thanksgiving break but it shouldn’t interfere.

B.
To manage all my commitments, I’ll use different planning techniques. I really like visually seeing everything that I need to finish. I currently use a planner to keep track of my homework, my iOS Calendar to keep track of events, and sticky notes on my desk to keep track of any other to-do (self-care, chores). Being able to cross things or check them off motivates me to finish all my tasks. To keep track of time and make sure I’m being productive, I like using pomodoro timers. I would be able to check in on Scratch during my short breaks while I do my homework.

Communication and Accountability
I would describe my communication style as clear, thoughtful, and collaborative. When I am working with a group, I try to make sure everyone is on the same page about what we are doing, what our goals are, and what each person is responsible for. I think having clear communication from the beginning makes it much easier for everyone to work together well and prevents misunderstandings later on. I also try to be thoughtful about how I communicate because I know that people can approach the same situation in very different ways. I want to be able to share my ideas and opinions clearly while also listening to and considering the ideas of others.

Collaboration is an important part of my communication style because I do not want a group project to feel like one person is making all of the decisions. I value hearing different perspectives and believe that working together can lead to better ideas than working individually. If there is a disagreement, I try to understand where the other person is coming from rather than immediately dismissing their idea. I think being able to communicate openly and respectfully allows a group to move forward even when everyone does not initially agree.

When it comes to accountability, I hold myself responsible for the commitments I make. If I agree to complete something, I make sure I follow through because I understand that other people may be relying on me. I also believe accountability means being honest when something does not go according to plan. If I make a mistake or realize that I am having trouble completing something, I would rather communicate that early and work toward a solution than let the rest of the group be affected without knowing what is happening.

When holding others accountable, I would approach it with the same respect and communication that I expect from myself. I would make sure expectations were clear first and then address the issue directly if someone was not following through. I would want to understand the situation before making assumptions, while still making sure that everyone takes responsibility for their part. Overall, I believe strong communication and accountability go hand in hand. When everyone knows what is expected, feels comfortable communicating, and follows through on their responsibilities, it creates a team that can trust each other and work together effectively.

Scenario
Scenario A: If a camper told me they were struggling to write because they felt overwhelmed, I would first just listen to them. I would want them to know that it is completely okay to feel overwhelmed and that their word count is not more important than their well-being.

I would encourage them to take a break from writing and focus on their life outside of SWC. I think it is really important to remember that SWC is supposed to be fun! You should be able to hang out with your friends, spend time with your family, go outside, watch a show, or just take some time for yourself without feeling guilty about not writing. I wouldn't want someone to feel like they have to spend all of their time trying to reach a word goal and miss out on everything else happening around them.

I would also remind them that falling behind is not the end of the world. They can always come back to their writing when they feel less overwhelmed and actually want to write again. At the end of the day, I think SWC is about more than just hitting a certain number of words. It is about writing, meeting people, being creative, and having fun. I would want the camper to enjoy their time at SWC rather than feel pressured by it.

SWC Impact
SWC has impacted me greatly in different ways!

First off, I wasn’t always an avid writer. Before SWC, writing was something I mostly associated with school assignments, but through SWC, I’ve grown to genuinely enjoy it. It has given me a space to experiment with my writing, explore different ideas, and find my own voice. I’ve become much more confident in sharing my work and expressing my thoughts, and I think that is one of the biggest ways SWC has impacted me.

SWC has also taught me some really important skills, especially time management. There are always weeklies and cabin wars so I’ve had to learn how to manage my time and stay on top of my responsibilities. I’ve also learned how to focus on my physical and mental health. The emphasis on life > SWC has definitely reminded me to make sure to balance everything, and that it’s okay to not accomplish everything you set your mind to. These are skills that I know I can carry with me outside of SWC as well.

Lastly, one of my favorite things about SWC is how supportive the community is. Everyone is so willing to encourage each other, give feedback, and celebrate each other’s accomplishments. I’ve found so many people that share the same interests as me. Being part of a community where people genuinely want to see each other succeed has made SWC really meaningful to me.

I would foster this same environment by being someone who actively supports and encourages others.

Cabin Atmosphere
A.
“A supportive atmosphere with an engaging storyline to build lasting friendships and memories”

B.
To build this cabin atmosphere, I’ll try to spend time in the cabin everyday, getting to know all the campers. Also, to create an engaging storyline, I make sure that the activities are manageable for the timeframe and try to involve everyone. I’ll also encourage the campers to get to know each other and talk to other cabins!

Checkboxes
A.
✔️ I will be able to add points in the Main Cabin consistently throughout camp
✔️ I’m willing to submit a promotional project for SWC
✔️ I’m willing to put the camper signups link in my “About Me” or “What I’m Working On” on my profile

B.
I’m able to complete all responsibilities.

Eris' (co)leader app — Nov '26

About Me
Hi there! I’m Eris (she/her), found in the SGT (GMT/UTC +8) timezone. I’m a proud Gryffindor, and I enjoy writing, reading, drawing, crocheting, baking, and much more! I’m currently obsessed with Hamilton, which I absolutely love. It’s been a solid 3+ months, but the craze is still going strong!

This app is themed around one of my previous obsessions, Project Hail Mary! It’s one of my all-time favourite movies and books, and was my entry point into exploring Science-Fiction. I was first introduced when my family watched the movie earlier this year in March (?!), and I immediately fell in love with the characters and the story. I soon acquired the book and well, the rest is history. <3

My passion for writing in particular was cultivated over many years of reading, until one day I decided that I wanted to create my own stories! I’ve been writing on and off for about 3 years, and as I go through old pieces of writing cringing, I discovered that I’ve improved more than I originally thought. Recently, I’ve also picked up drawing again, and I’m currently exploring digital art. I think I’m getting the hang of it; I’m quite happy with how my art for this app came out! Baking has also become a favourite hobby of mine. There’s something magical about combining ingredients, doing… something to it, and out comes a new treat! I especially enjoy making apple muffins and cinnamon rolls, although I’m hoping to explore candymaking like marshmallows and caramel soon as well.

Originally, I was a little hesitant about applying, but thanks to the great encouragement and support everyone has shown (thank you all so much <33), I’ve decided to apply after all! I think (co)leading could be a great opportunity to experience organising and planning something, as well as giving a little bit back to SWC — a community that I really do love.

Previous participation

This upcoming November session will be my third session! Below is my previous participation and roles.

March ‘26, Dystopian, active camper
July ‘26, Mystery, active camper

Although I was only a camper, I picked up a bit on what managing a cabin entails. I also realised how much communication, planning, and work goes into each session! Thank you everyone for making SWC possible <3 Even though I’m rather inexperienced, I’ve asked around about what (co)leading entails, and I believe I know enough and have what it takes to (co)lead, if given the chance!

I don’t have much leadership experience Scratch-wise, as I joined Scratch specifically to join SWC, lol. In real life however, I was a prefect (student council-like) in Primary School and helped to plan events like Teacher’s Day and Graduation for the graduating cohort! We also organised and relayed any general instructions from the teachers to the student body.

This taught me how to take up a leadership role. It took a few years of group projects, errands for teachers, and many mistakes along the way, but I learnt how to keep myself accountable and responsible while juggling regular schoolwork. I also became a better listener and discovered a way to utilise the problem solving skills and social skills my teachers still talk about today (haha, real world application!) to settle possible issues that might arise!

Now, I’m in Secondary School and was one of five class leaders last year. We mainly managed the class and relayed instructions from teachers — much like my experience as a prefect — but on a smaller scale.

Unfortunately, I burnt myself out by overworking without asking for help — it’s why I stepped down this year. </3 My experience taught me the importance of taking care of myself. I can typically cope with high levels of stress for a period of time, but I’m still pretty bad at recognising when I’m overwhelmed. Lists are one of my favourite things to keep me accountable (as you’ll soon see later on) and manage my to-do list! Now, I continue to help coordinate my class for the endless amount of class projects we have, ahaha.

I’ve also led smaller group projects and assignments multiple times, both in Primary and Secondary School, which has given me many chances to experience managing tasks and people!

──────── ⋆.˚ °‧ ݁ ⟡ ݁ ·。⋆.˚ ────────

Cabin preferences

For cabin preferences, my main preference would be to lead a Sci-Fi cabin themed around Project Hail Mary. In this cabin, campers would race against time alongside Ryland Grace and Rocky, completing challenges across space in order to save both Earth and Erid! I’m the most familiar with this idea, and it’s the more developed one of the two ideas I have.

Another idea I have is a cabin themed around A Series Of Unfortunate Events. I think it’d go best with the genre of Tragedy, but could also fit Adventure, Bi-Fi, and maybe Gothic. In this cabin, campers would work together to escape from Count Olaf and his crew through a variety of challenges inspired by the series’ key events. This idea isn’t as fleshed out as my earlier idea, though, so I’d need to continue its development with my possible co’s.

If I’m offered to co-lead a cabin, I have no preferences. I’ll try to adapt to the theme, given I’m familiar enough with it. If I’m unfamiliar with the theme, I’ll do a bit of research to give me a bit more context and understanding, and of course, do my best to contribute regardless!

I’d prefer not to (co)lead TCTWNW as the competitive aspect of SWC is especially motivating for me, haha. <3

──────── ⋆.˚ °‧ ݁ ⟡ ݁ ·。⋆.˚ ────────

Time management & dedication

A. As luck would have it, I’ll be off of school for the majority of November, which means that I’ll be able to dedicate at least an hour to SWC on most days! I’d assume most of the cabin planning would happen in October though, which my final exams will eat into. During this period, I’ll definitely be prioritising real life > SWC. I’ll still check Scratch regularly, but I won’t be able to spend as much time online. By the 11th of October, I should be free to resume normal activity levels. <3

In order to prepare my co’s for this, I’d try to communicate the key points/most of my ideas earlier on and work out the finer details later when I’m more free. I’ll also be sure to let them know about my inactivity ahead of time so we can plan around it.

Regardless of commitments, I understand my timezone is in an awkward range, which can make collaboration tricky. Currently, I check Scratch at least once daily, but during the planning phase and the session, I plan to check Scratch more frequently, especially if there’s a designated time period where all (co)leaders can be online. I also try to reply to people promptly so as to move things along quickly.

B. In terms of time management skills, I’ve found over a few years of trial and error what type of workflow works for me.

I consider myself rather organised, mainly because my mind goes crazy trying to remember everything otherwise, lol. I mainly do this through making lists because visualising everything that I have to get done helps me find an easier place to start, which in turn helps me beat procrastination! I also like to plan out bigger tasks and create a timeline with mini-checkpoints, usually on my calendar as I tend to look at it frequently.

I’m sure there’s plenty of things to plan for a cabin, let alone other campwide contributions, and that these tasks can pile up and become overwhelming rather quickly. By planning things out step-by-step and working on casual internal deadlines, I’ll be able to keep my team on track and ensure that we are able to get as much as realistically possible done!

──────── ⋆.˚ °‧ ݁ ⟡ ݁ ·。⋆.˚ ────────

Communication and accountability

In group settings, I like to take initiative and look at the bigger picture to keep things moving on time. I tend to make a general plan, then hop around to check in and help out with the smaller tasks! I try to make sure everyone’s playing to their strengths/preferences as well, because that makes working together much easier. Despite that, I’m also happy to take instructions, as a nice change of pace. <3

If there are disagreements within a group, I’d try to find a compromise by first discussing the issue. I’d look out for any strong preferences and possible similarities between the two, then I’ll try to accommodate everyone the best I can. If no one is particularly willing, I’d try to reason with them, or as a last resort, choose the idea that I believe would work best. I do try to diffuse tensions early, though, as I’ve witnessed what can happen when minor disagreements build up, and it’s something I want to avoid! ^^’

My mind acts a bit like a mental checklist with deadlines and timelines, helping to remind me to get things done. This is mainly how I hold myself accountable for daily tasks, although the self-reminders can get quite loud at times! When I have vital tasks or too many to mentally keep track of, I like to write reminders in my notes app on my phone, laptop, and calendar. That way, I’m highly unlikely to forget what I have to do. However, reminders of work always following me around aren't the most healthy. Sometimes, I need to pause and enjoy the moment, usually by taking a break and doing something relaxing, like reading or crocheting. <3 Self-care is something that I’m still in the process of trying to prioritise.

When I work with others, setting internal deadlines before the actual deadline tends to help keep things punctual! By having an earlier deadline, there’s still time to make any last-minute suggestions or amendments. I also like to regularly check in with others and update them on any progress made because it helps to speed up communication! If someone’s a little behind the timeline, I’d reach out to make sure that everything’s going well, and if not, offer help and reschedule the timeline to adapt to the new circumstances.

If I’m being completely honest, I don’t fully understand how (co)leading works, haha. However, I think that I’ll only ever understand by doing it myself, and I’m very willing (and eager) to learn! If given the chance, I’d definitely ask around for help and guidance. I’m also quite adaptable, which I think will help me learn quickly. That’s why in this case, I believe I’d still be able to (co)lead a cabin well.

──────── ⋆.˚ °‧ ݁ ⟡ ݁ ·。⋆.˚ ────────

Scenarios

Scenario A: a camper is falling behind

First, I would check in with them to understand better what they’re feeling overwhelmed about. I’d make sure to remind them to prioritise their real life interests over SWC, and ask them if they’d like any help or someone to talk to. Sometimes ranting or listing out grievances can help alleviate the overwhelming feeling!

If the camper really wants to hit their word goal, I’d encourage them to first take a short break and do an activity they enjoy to clear their mind. Then, I’d share some ways that I like to get inspiration to hopefully help them start writing again. I’d also ask if they’d like to reconsider their word goal for what might be more realistic in their new circumstances. In this way, I hope to ensure that they’ll be able to juggle both their real life commitments and SWC, and still make the most out of the session!

──────── ⋆.˚ °‧ ݁ ⟡ ݁ ·。⋆.˚ ────────

SWC Impact

Since I was introduced to SWC in March, I’ve gained a better understanding of my own creative process, especially knowing when I can write and when I simply can’t. I’ve also begun writing a lot more, which is great for me to expand my horizons and explore genres and writing forms outside of my comfort zone.

The community here in SWC is another thing I absolutely love. The people here are so supportive, friendly, and kind. When I first joined in March, I was terrified of interacting online because I didn’t know how people would react, and as I’ve learnt elsewhere, people on the internet can be rather… unfriendly. However, after I was so warmly welcomed, I started opening up a bit more, and I feel a sense of belonging within this community.

Finding an online writing community has given me a space in which I feel comfortable enough to share my writing and interact with others, and most importantly, understand that I’m not alone. Before SWC, I barely knew anyone else who wrote, and I was starting to think writers were just far and few in between. Now I know that’s not the case!

In terms of creating a positive impact, I think one of the easiest and most effective ways to do this would be to continue encouraging campers, regardless of what cabin they’re in. Whenever someone leaves a kind comment, it (as cheesy as it sounds) brings a smile to my face, so much that when I’m on Scratch my parents often remark that I’m “smiling to myself.” Of course, if I’m confident in my answer, I’d also love to offer help and guidance to any campers who require it. I hope to come across as friendly and approachable, particularly because I know how intimidating it can be to ask for help. After all, we were all new to SWC once!

──────── ⋆.˚ °‧ ݁ ⟡ ݁ ·。⋆.˚ ────────

Cabin Atmosphere

Cabin atmosphere: “A cabin focused on building bonds where campers are encouraged to participate in all sorts of activities, improve their skills and expand their horizons — while keeping an eye on the leaderboard” (194 characters)

In order to foster this kind of atmosphere, I’d start with myself. I’m pretty competitive, and if you’re anything like me, you’d know how easy it is to get caught up in watching the leaderboard and writing for the sole purpose of points, haha. For active participation, I’d talk about how completing dailies and weeklies especially have helped me to explore writing forms and genres outside of my typical comfort zone, and encourage others to do the same! I’d also encourage campers to set writing goals for themselves (apart from word goals) that would nudge them in new directions. I think cabin merchandise/currency is also a great way to encourage participation, but shouldn’t be the primary motivation to be active.

Helping campers to bond can be challenging, but I think one of the best ways to grow closer is through interaction and mutual support/encouragement. To do this, I’d start by initiating conversations with campers and encouraging interaction with casual questions. I want to carry this aspect beyond just my cabin, to the main community as well by keeping this encouraging disposition in all of my interactions! <3

To maintain this atmosphere, I’ll make sure to do routine check-ins and gauge what the atmosphere is like. If it feels like it’s strayed, I’ll try to find out what changed the atmosphere and slowly shift the focus back into a positive one. In the worst case scenario, I’d try to find a new cabin atmosphere that works with the new circumstances.

──────── ⋆.˚ °‧ ݁ ⟡ ݁ ·。⋆.˚ ────────

Checkboxes:
I won’t be able to help add points consistently (periodically, but not consistently </3)
I’m willing to put up a promotional project, but I’m not yet sure what I'd do for it, haha
I’m willing to put a link to camper signups in my profile!

I should be able to complete all responsibilities!

Bonus!

I’ve never been to a masquerade before, but I’d love to have an outfit themed around a wolf, or a mythical creature like a dragon! I’d wear an ankle-length dress that’s comfortable to move in, and to match, a lightly bejewelled mask with my chosen animal/creature’s details! And maybe a simple choker/necklace too.

Bea's Nov. '26 Co-Leader Application

#1 - About Me

Hey, I’m Bea! I use she/her pronouns and I typically reside in the wonderful land of EST. However, I do travel fairly often, which will occasionally have me time travel end up in another timezone. So, don’t be surprised if I suddenly appear in a different one!

When I’m not writing, you can find me either crocheting or sewing! I recently picked up crochet on a whim due to a gifted crochet kit from my mom, and I’ve loved it ever since! I’ve quickly discovered though that I much prefer (attempting) to create garments over making plushies. Ironically, however, I do in fact have a WIP plush sitting on my desk right now…

I also picked up sewing rather similarly! I wanted to learn how to sew to make plushies (with the bonus of being able to repair any clothes that don’t quite last the test of time.) Quickly discovered that making plushies isn’t quite my thing, and tried making a pair of shorts on a whim. I discovered that I love making clothes, especially skirts! Which was a huge shocker for me, since I don’t particularly enjoy dressing up.

Sometimes in my elusive free time between being creative, hanging out with my friends, or doing my… ew… homework… you’ll find me reading! I haven’t been able to read very many books outside of school lately, which is rather sad. But a few that I have managed to read recently in my free time would be Heist of Hearts by E.A. Winters and Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, both of which I highly recommend! Though, some of my favorites that I haven’t read lately would be Ranger’s Apprentice and the Brotherband Chronicles, both by John Flanagan.

But, when I’m not doing any of those things, you’ll most likely find me hanging around SWC! I love to talk about almost anything for the most part, even if I have the tendency to lurk in the comments. I pinky promise I don’t bite, so feel free to come and chat with me!

However bee warned… I am quite silly and goofy and love corny jokes and bad puns, so you might want to watch out for that! ;D

#2 - Previous Participation

I've done 10 sessions of SWC now which is absolutely wild to think about. That’s a little over three years now, which is insane. I've co-led twice, in March ‘25 and November ‘25. I'm not sure if I can technically count March, since I was accidentally blocked for the entirety of the session, however I was able to participate in the planning! Other than that, I’ve only ever been a camper.

Leadership wise, I volunteer to help out with the kids at my church every Sunday. While not all of them are rowdy and rambunctious, the vast majority of them have a whooole lot of energy. How do they have that much energy? I haven’t the slightest clue. But I’ve definitely learned how to rein them in and keep them actively entertained and attentive after a little over four(ish) years of doing this!

I’ve also volunteered as a junior assistant at the place where I learned how to sew a few summers ago. It was definitely challenging, being in a teaching position, instead of just a corralling children one. But it was very worth it! I taught kids of varying ages and learning styles how to sew garments and quilts and pillow cases (oh my!) and it was very fulfilling seeing them with their finished projects. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to volunteer this summer, due ot my travels, but I’m hoping to be able to do it again next year!

And then writing wise, I began writing almost as soon as I could read novels! As soon as I could read, I learned that, well, I wanted to write a whole book, too! And ever since then I’ve never really looked back. Which means I’ve almost been writing for 8-9 years now. Crazy.

Though, I never really seriously began writing anything until somewhere in 2021. I only know that, however, because of the first created dates on my word docs. And while I don’t revisit those docs often, it’s nice to be able to go back and read (and maybe cringe about) my old writing to see what I was talking about. or wonder what on earth i was thinking when writing whatever i wrote-

#3 - Cabin Preferences

I would love to co-lead a cabin of the following genres. I feel the most confident writing in these genres, and enjoy reading them as well. (Action, Adventure, Apocalyptic, Cyberpunk, Fairy Tales, Fan-Fi, Fantasy, Folklore, Illu-Fi, Magreal, Sci-Fi, Xeno-Fi)

These are cabins that I would enjoy co-leading, but they’re not my top picks. (Bangsian, Bi-Fi, Classics, Contemporary, Epistolary, Gothic, Lyric, Mythology, Script, Thriller, Tragicomedy, Utopian)

I would rather not co-lead the following cabins due to not feeling comfortable nor confident in writing them. While I wouldn’t mind co-leading one of these cabins, I’d definitely prefer another cabin. (Hi-Fi, Horror, Journalism, Lit-Fi, Non-Fi, Novel, Paranormal, Poem/Poetry, Psycho-Fi, Real-Fi, Romance, Short Story, Steampunk, Tragedy)

I've co-led these before, but wouldn't mind doing it again! (Solarpunk, Mystery)

However, at the end of the day, the storyline matters more than the genre. I’m open to co-leading any cabin, really.

I enjoy the competitive aspect of SWC, since it’s always been a huge motivator for me and my many writing projects. But, I wouldn’t be against co-leading TCTWNW this session, due to being slightly busier than I have in previous sessions that I’ve co-led.

#4 - Time Management & Dedication

A. Wednesdays and Thursdays are hard days for me to hop on during the afternoons to my busy schedule. I have work that starts at 1PM on Wednesdays, and church almost immediately after I’m done. Which means I don’t get home until 9:30 or later. On Thursdays, I have my sewing classes and then dance shortly after, where I’m usually getting home at about 9:30, as well. The rest of my weekdays will be much more active days for me, fortunately. Unfortunately, weekends are a fifty-fifty, due to having some daytrips planned, but I’ll be able to check on Scratch intermittently throughout the day!

Other than a few short daytrips, I currently have nothing planned that will heavily affect my activity. If anything were to come up, though, I’d be sure to inform the rest of my team.

B. I’ve always struggled with time management due to getting distracted easily, being a procrastinator at heart, and also straight up forgetting entire tasks. However, I have learned how to combat this over many years of trial and error. Because as much of a procrastinator that I am, I despise having to cram everything in one or two days.

Using a calendar helps me to keep track of what day it is, as well as any activities that might potentially keep me away from my work. It also helps reminds me of any deadlines that are coming up, and allows me to give myself soft due dates to complete my work. Pairing this with a timer (and/or an accountability buddy) often helps me to do lots of work in short bursts. Doing it in small increments of time helps me to stay sane by not working for several hours straight, while also not just goofing off more than I’m working.

#5 - Communication & Accountability

I would say that my communication style is a mixture between serious and silly. While I always try to be a little formal with my typing style, I can't help but sprinkle a little silliness and whimsy in there as well. I love making people laugh - whether it be through (probably bad) jokes or just being my silly, goofy self, making people laugh will never fail to bring a smile to my face.

However, I do know when a situation calls for being calm, serious, and/or firm. Whenever one of those situations arises, I will drop my usual jokey demeanor to make sure I can handle whatever said situation is properly. At times like these, I can often become blunter and more straightforward in an attempt to become as clear as possible.

For keeping myself and others accountable, I think that periodic check ins are always a great way to help keep everybody on track and to make sure no one's silently struggling. To-do lists attached are always good, helping to keep everyone aware of upcoming deadlines and maybe help avoid last minute cramming because you forgot that something was due the next day. (… or is that just me?)

#6 - Scenarios

Scenario A

I would gently tell the camper that I've been there, done that, especially in my first few sessions of SWC. Reaching my word goal seemed like this lofty, impossible task sometimes and that's okay. Being overwhelmed is never fun, and you don't need to add any more stress to overwhelm yourself even more. Not reaching your word goal is perfectly okay, and understandable. You aren’t letting anyone down if you don’t reach your word goal. SWC may be competitive, but sometimes life throws you a curveball you’d never expect. It’s okay.

Life will always and forever take precedence over SWC. If you need to take a break that's okay, I promise. SWC will be here when you come back.

#7 - SWC Impact

SWC has affected me more than I ever thought it would when I first signed up on a whim three (3!) years ago. It's made me a better writer, be punctual, helped me learn how to manage time and I couldn’t be more grateful for it.

I've been writing and making stories for as long as I can remember, but never wrote consistently until 2021 or 2022. I only know this thanks to the time stamps of many old Word docs buried deep in the files and folders of my computer. Though, I don't check those very often due to how bad they are. But even if they make me cringe and whisper noooooo at my computer when I occasionally read them, they still make me smile because I know that it means I've improved. And, of course, I know that over 4 years, I would naturally improve as long as I practiced the skill. Yet I don't think I'd improve as much as I have since then if I hadn't joined SWC.

But I think the only reason I stuck around long enough to improve was because of the community. I adore SWC’s community so much. Everyone is so kind and welcoming here. I’m almost never afraid to share my writing during a SWC session. Which is a rarity, since I’m usually too nervous to even share a well-put together story to my best friend. Let alone a random story about Lint the Fox eating sushi that I made in less than 30 minutes to whole community of fellow writers. Everyone here is so kind and wonderful, and I appreciate everyone who’s helped me on my writing journey, whether they know it or not.

So, I’ll try my best to do the same to all the campers, old and new. I’ll try my best to encourage them and cheer them on. I’ll try my best to welcome them into my cabin or SWC (or both!). I’ll try my best to chat with them whenever I have the chance.

I’ll try my best to make SWC the welcoming community that it was for me for someone else. I want other people to feel the same joy that I feel whenever I see that another camper replied to me or whenever I see a familiar camper sign up for camper sign-ups. And I know that I’m only one person and that I can only do so much. But I’ll try my best to make the same impact that others did with me.

#8 - Cabin Atmosphere

A. “A fun-filled cabin with a focus on improving your writing whilst making friends and memories along the way!” (107 characters)

B. I would try to keep the cabin as lighthearted as possible! I’d like to include fun activities for the campers to complete, especially ones with teamwork involved. Whenever I’m a camper, I always look forward to any sorts of puzzles or challenges, since I adore the discussions and conversations with my fellow campers that always follow. Little things like QOTDs and introductions at the beginning of the session are also things I’d love to include. They may be simple, but I think they’re great ways to help build friendship within a cabin!

#9 - Checkboxes

✓ - I will be able to help add points in the main cabin consistently throughout camp.
✓ - I'm willing to share a promotional project for SWC.
✓ - I'm willing to put the camper signups link in my “About Me” or “What I'm Working On” on my Scratch Profile.

B. No, I will be able to complete all responsibilities listed.

#10 - Optional Bonus

Contrary to popular bee-lief, I wouldn’t wear a yellow and black dress with a bee themed mask! That would just be bzz-arre!

Instead, I think that I would wear a lavender and azure ombre dress with some embroidered flowers and leaves around the waist. For a mask, I think I’d wear a gray one, with blue and purple accents around the eye holes!
