Stage size
Dear Scratch Team,
I'm writing to share a feature suggestion that relates to the current Scratch Stage dimensions.
At present, the stage is set to a fixed size of 480x360 pixels. This is the standard that has been around for quite some time, but I feel that it would open up a whole new world of possibilities for creators if we could change the width and height of the stage.
Here is the case for why this would make a difference:
Better Graphics: More pixels would mean more detail and sharper text.
Modern Displays: Most of the screens nowadays have a widescreen format (16:9), and if the stage could be adjusted, Scratchers would be able to make projects that are more suitable for today's monitors and mobile devices.
Creative Freedom: Having the option of different aspect ratios would especially help games of different genres (like a side, scrolling game or a filmic story) to come to life.
I get that altering the default size might be problematic for the old projects, so maybe it could be called an “Advanced Setting” that is available only for brand new projects?
Thanks a lot for the phenomenal work you guys do in keeping Scratch alive!
Best,

Best thing to do in my opinion for this type of feature is to just add bars to simulate a certain resolution. I did it on a game I'm making to simulate 480x240 resolution.

Support!
This would be a really cool idea especially when I want a different screen ratio. However, maybe you could add a maximum pixel limit so bad actors don't just make 100000000 by 100000000 px stages to lag people's computer or smh.
