Onyx is a light-weight and slick notepad made for all sorts of things. It can be used for just jotting things down, or as a full text editor. It supports saving/loading files and a TON more that is described in detail on the repository, which is here.

It has many of the features standard terminal editors have, as well as some extra. However, it still does have some bugs. It's early stage but good enough to release to the public for feedback. I highly recommend trying to contribute or make themes for Onyx! It helps out a ton.

I'm not really sure why you would need to encode anything. Onyx isn't a programming language nor does it have a special file type. It is a notepad app… for taking notes… on text files (or really any files). While I do eventually plan on adding some very minimal syntax highlighting for a chosen few programming languages, it's still at its root a notepad. I made it because I realized how annoying it can be at times to easily take notes without distractions or multiple steps to reach an empty text file.

Anyways, separate from this ^ I probably won't be updating Onyx the same type of way as I do with Feather. For one, the updates will be a lot more straightforward and only be released once I deem it's fully finished (aka I finish everything on my todo which rn looks like actually hell as I have like 10 things for feather and 7 for onyx– aaaaaa). Also I'm not directly giving Onyx more attention than Feather but since Feather is a lot more late stage, it's updates will be more periodic than Onyx. Besides, I'm still trying to fix so many bugs in Feather and working on a separate project helps.
