I usually use male pronouns on scratch cat as it’s easier to assume
and the entire community does that as well

after researching, it appears the source for scratch cat being nonbinary was from @ceebee, but the source was a dead comment link so it was removed from the wiki article.

I like to imagine the Scratch Cat as an actor who encourages Scratchers to make projects. Since the Scratch Cat likes to see other peoples' creativity, the Scratch Cat is happy to play whatever character you need them to.
