So here's some context: On griffpatch's profile, there was that one person who's advertising a LOT. I counted 8 within half an hour, but there could be more. When I tell them to stop, rather than stopping, they started harass me instead. I know that I could report, but that doesn't happen fast enough. When I provided a link to the Scratch Wiki page about advertising, they claimed the link is unsafe. They also insisted on me creating an account on the Scratch Wiki as justification, although I refused, since I believe their intentions is to harass me on another platform. How should I convince them to stop advertising?


Edit: They're now using 2 accounts to harass me and claimed that I started everything.





I really want to just link their account here and let everyone report them, but I am well aware that I should not do that.

Just report their comments – the Scratch Team will remove them eventually. In general, the best thing to do with rule-breaking comments is to silently report them because replying to them often leads to an argument.

Update: I don't care if I get banned for a third time because of this, but I'm reporting everything they said. If I ever get banned, that's probably why.


Update: They just forced me to apologize. I didn't.

Update: Had to be a little bit toxic there to end the argument, but that's what they deserved either way.

like what the 2# post said please report silently because arguing isn't really going solve anything and also this breaks the “Treat Everyone With Respect” CG

But I thought according to the Scratch Wiki we must warn an advertiser and see their reaction before reporting.

Don't interact with them, just report and ignore their comments, and the ST should deal with it soon.

The wiki is wrong in this case – I'll update the article. The Community Guidelines are quite clear about this:

Please use the “Report” button rather than engaging in fights, spreading rumors about other people’s behavior, or otherwise responding to any inappropriate content.
