U switch costume to a hitbox costume to do collisions, then after that u can switch back to the normal costume

if you switch your costume to the prefered hit box at the start of a frame then back to the player at the end of the frame the player will never know it happens hope dis helps

Another way to create hitboxes are to have another sprite show when a broadcast is done (example, Player hits enemy). This should allow outside of character hitboxes, however not better than costume switching.
when I receive [hit enemy v]
go to [player v]
set [ghost v] effect to (100)
show
put (anything) in this place
hide
