i am coding a platformer, (https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1375007042/) and i can’t figure out how to make the sprite walk smoothly. It just goes 10 pixels over and over again.

move everything under the key press detecting hat blocks into the main loop

For some reason when i do that my arrow keys don't respond.

chang the movement scripts from this:

when [ left arrow] key pressed
move left

to this:

when green flag clicked
forever
if <key [ left arrow] pressed?> then
move left
end
end

I added a block to switch to the hitbox before the code section that adjusts Y to not touch the ground.

This gets rid of the jumping that happens when the right or left key is pressed.

(update: Sorry, I didn't see you already had a solution. )

The solution made it so it jumps up walls automatically. Did your solution help that?

I expanded your use of a hit box and made another one for ‘left/right’ detections.

Your ground sprite is now hidden and can’t be touched. The Green Flag script in the ground sprite should include a show block.
