You can change that back in System Settings. We've got new photographic backgrounds for macOS Big Bear Golden Gate:I see that apple's not bringing the traditional menu bar back with it's border…

Yeah, but if I'm being really picky – it's not the same, the contrast is harsher than it was on sequoia and it visually clashes with the rest of Mac OS 26.You can change that back in System Settings. We've got new photographic backgrounds for macOS Big Bear Golden Gate:I see that apple's not bringing the traditional menu bar back with it's border…

Macintosh, according to google, means a full-length waterproof coat or a cloth waterproofed with rubber. Interesting… Anyways to actually add to the topic, I hate Mac's terminal theme. Why is it pure white… WHYYou can change this, you know.
other than that, Mac is pretty neat :)
Go to settings using top bar, “profiles” choose a theme you like, then press “default”. All windows from now on will use that theme.

Well, nothing really is exactly the same in Tahoe. Window rounding has been taken to an absurd level, liquid glass was used on solid colors and ended up just lowering contrast (open Settings or Finder and you'll see what I mean), buttons are now wider and mess up older UI layouts because of it, app icons now need to be in a proprietary format that breaks compatibility with existing icons, the list goes on and on.Yeah, but if I'm being really picky – it's not the same, the contrast is harsher than it was on sequoia and it visually clashes with the rest of Mac OS 26.You can change that back in System Settings. We've got new photographic backgrounds for macOS Big Bear Golden Gate:I see that apple's not bringing the traditional menu bar back with it's border…

nowadays apple makes products for consumers, instead of creative professionals, so the Mac ends up full of iPhone, iCloud, and action centre gimmicks. What it means is apple makes more money, but the Mac is therefore loosing its USP.
Remember that Mac OS X was meant to be a UNIX workstation like Nextstep that came before it.
Apple will eventually run out of bubblewrap buttons to bolt on to a beautiful OS.

Does anyone here run Tahoe on an Intel Mac? I run it on silicon but I'd be interested to see how the performance differs…

Does anyone here run Tahoe on an Intel Mac? I run it on silicon but I'd be interested to see how the performance differs…I will once OCLP supports it (assuming it ever does). There's only 4 Intel Macs that can natively run Tahoe (2020 iMac, 2020 13“ MacBook Pro w/ 4 Thunderbolt ports, 2019 16” MacBook Pro, and 2019 Mac Pro), all of which were sold at least into 2021. M1 Macs were so revolutionary that a relatively low number of these late Intel Macs sold after the announcement.

Yeah, I know of very few people who bought an Intel Mac when silicon came out. Still I guess there are valid reasons to stay on older versions, for example: there are rumours that golden gate (os 27) is going to end Mac OS extended (journaled) external disk drive support.Does anyone here run Tahoe on an Intel Mac? It will also end Rosetta 2, so Intel-only apps won't work on it, either. I also believe the built-in DVD player API (along with the app) are being removed.Yeah, I know of very few people who bought an Intel Mac when silicon came out. Now that I think about it, I might actually dual-boot Tahoe on my Mac and just manually install patches as needed. Besides the wireless and webcam, Sequoia runs without many patches on my Mac, so Tahoe would only require rerouting things that are trying to go through the T2 chip my Mac doesn't have, which there are plenty of experimental patches for.

Thankfully apple doesn't force updates on macOS yet so I can stick with Tahoe for as long as I like.
I'm wishing I made a Time Machine backup before I updated from sequoia to Tahoe…

It would be pretty easy to do on disk utility, and then you have compatibility for intel apps that need Rosetta 2.

I'm wishing I made a Time Machine backup before I updated from sequoia to Tahoe…I mean, you can make a backup on Tahoe and manually put the files from it onto a Sequoia installation, but it's a bit tedious since you can't just use Migration assistant.

Unfortunately I'm not the only person using that computer, and I don't think everyone wants their files moved around by me XD.I'm wishing I made a Time Machine backup before I updated from sequoia to Tahoe…I mean, you can make a backup on Tahoe and manually put the files from it onto a Sequoia installation, but it's a bit tedious since you can't just use Migration assistant.
I can live with Tahoe (just about) as some features are quite good: for example, the spotlight redesign. However that means turning a blind eye to the hideous UI design.
Thankfully I still have a couple of old Macs I can boot up as an antidote to Liquid Glass machines.

has apple explained what will happen to wine/gptk after macos 28? im hoping they make rosetta open source or smth cause if theyre just straight up discontinuing it theyre definitely gonna lose a lot of people (including me).
