ScratchNews is a news platform about Scratch-related news, made to prevent misinformation and disinformation among the Scratch community. It transmits information in the form of articles, has many social features and created by Scratchers, for Scratchers. Let me show you everything ScratchNews can do and more! Every image in this page links to the web page shown in the image.



This is the ScratchNews homepage. Upon entering it, you'll see some articles the ScratchNews community has wrote. The founder (me, known as “ScratchNews” or “TODB” on the site) creates an article almost every day on the site, but people can make their own articles, too. We've recently had a forumer enter the site and post many helpful forum articles, maybe you can be like them after reading this post.

This is our most recent article, “3 Features You Didn't Know Were on the Discussion Forums”. Articles usually contain informing or entertaining content and use formatting features such as headers. Users can create an article on the submit page, we'll talk more about it later. If you don't have a ScratchNews account, create one here.

Users can like, dislike, comment, save, view and share articles. Saving an article will store it in the My Articles Page, where you can also see your articles and Drafts of yours.

But maybe you don't want to read this. Maybe you want something else. Scrolling down at the end of the article gives you two pages: “Related” and “Extra Articles” if you want to read more. But how about filters, categories, a place for ScratchNews users to… explore?



Ah, the ScratchNews Explore Page. Unlike Scratch's Explore page, it's actually running smoothly and better than ever. On it, you can explore all ScratchNews articles and filter them by category, user, date and criteria.
The Explore page is a good place to surf ScratchNews articles if you want to. But one thing that ScratchNews also does best outside articles is connecting with others. The next page, the Profiles page, does that perfectly.



The Profiles page on ScratchNews is a great place to see others and yourself. Hover over any ScratchNews user you want, and visit their profile, follow them, or maybe just give a nice comment.
As of when I'm writing this, ScratchNews has 48 users. That's a lot! We have active forumers, Scratchtubers (Scratch youtubers) and many others using the site - why don't you connect with them?

We've talked about how to read articles and talk with users, but how about writing your own articles? Well, let's do that on the submit page.



Say hi to the submit page! It's the place to write articles, save them to your drafts and watch them get approved. Every feature that is on the submit page is available to every user: so everyone has the tools to write some fire.

Put a title, a summary, some categories to place yourself higher on ScratchNews's Explore page, pick some categories and get back to work writing!

Oh. The… search page. You can search articles, I guess. We don't have profile search added yet, we'll edit this post when they're out.

We don't really need moderators at the moment. We already have 3 (excluding me), and they're helping out do the approving articles and submissions work. If you want to support ScratchNews, you could try to make a free account or submit some articles.

I'm going to try to get hosting today. It costs 6$ a month and we have 23.35$ in donations, so all I can do is hope my parents will let me use the money. Whrn ScratchNews will be up, this forum topic will be updated and I'll make an article on it. We can do this.

It's like 23:53 right now it took so much time to move this to IFastNet but it's done! Sorry about the maintenance, it's never happening again.

Just so you know, horror projects (especially with blood) are not allowed on Scratch. I say this since I just found some article on horror projects.

If you'd like I can give a test run for like a week and see how much traffic it gets, if not too much I would be glad to host it on whatever URL you want (assuming its less than 15 a year).

Some ScratchNews data was overriden while moving to IFastNet. I contacted the support team and they said they “don't know what data you're talking about”. You can see the article about it here: https://scratchnews.freedev.app/article/45 . If your data was overriden, please make a new account. Follower auth works the same and you don't need to follow again (just comment).

Did the site work before? If it did, that's strange. But if didn't the whole time…
Some browsers and OSs don't support .freedev.app domains. The solution is to get an actual paid domain (like .net) which we're planning to do very soon.

Did you tried a free domain?
