Search bar bug
My browser / operating system: MacOS Macintosh X 10.15.7, Chrome 151.0.0.0, No Flash versions detected
This is like the longest running Scratch bug
Please fix
Sometimes when I search things it shows a blank part where the projects should be the menu bar and stuff is there but theres no projects even if I know for a FACT the projects exist
Same thing even when I switch to Studios
I know theres probably already a topic about this
But please fix this

OMG YESSS This happens to me all the time. On my old account, I could search a music artist and find I bunch of projects that catalogue their songs. But now, I can't find said projects, and I know they exist! I've been downloading them myself, which takes a while and clutters my pc…

The Scratch search bar is currently broken, and the only practical solution is to use external search engines or direct URLs to access projects.
Why the Search Bar Isn’t Working
Since late 2024, Scratch’s search bar has frequently stopped returning results, showing either a blank page or “Nothing found” regardless of the query. This affects all users and also impacts the Explore page, as it relies on the same search engine. The issue is related to Scratch’s internal project indexer and has recurred multiple times, with no permanent fix yet announced by the Scratch Team

Workarounds
While waiting for Scratch to fix the search engine, you can use the following methods:
Use Google or another external search engine
Type your query with the prefix site:scratch.mit.edu to search Scratch projects, studios, or discussions. -EDGE

for me it only affects some queries - some work normally, some (like ‘glow’) don't, and some (like ‘bush’) technically work but load slowly.- bbluriique

Everytime I try to put something in the search bar, it keeps saying “ Nothing Found”. Please fix this ( and if you don't mind; even if you do mind, fix it quickly). Thank you

I think about most people here are still struggling with the problem.
You can access featured projects and studios with projects in them easily. You can also try work about it by going to a user's page via URL and then accessing their projects. It's apparently been quite a long running problem, it works only sometimes. I wasn't able to type anything into the search bar without it returning gray screens until about 5 minutes ago.

There are quite a number of topics on this, like Here, and it is a long-standing issue so it would be really helpful if Scratch Team were to identify the problem with their indexing.
