No, it's not gambling.




It's controlled by the SDS team and owned by the ST. The SDS team picks up ideas from the ideas studio and then makes the studio. The studio theme is for rare occasions, events and moments, not gambling. Calm down.


Note: Some information may not be accurate because I haven't helped out the SDS in a while (but never curated) and the 7 month ban worsened it all.

People are gambling in What are the chances ads studio and I check it like every few days and I see gambling, I am wondering why gambling is there even though it is about randomness and luck. Although the studio may not be actively purposely promoting gambling, many people will still probably add gambling themed games like Texas poker, slots, or 5 Treasures Baccarat. The basic definition of gambling is having a chance of losing something, or gaining something, with luck involved. Many people on scratch make games, and the main purpose of a game normally is to have some sort of challenge to overcome. If you always win a “Luck game”, then there wouldn't be any challenge, so naturally they would add some way to lose something, which would make it gambling, or a skill element, which would steer it away from gambling because there is no way to lose anything. Anything could be made and not made gambling, as long as you approach it correctly and that the thing isn't just gambling. Another thing to think about is not gambling, but the things that come with it. For example, in a game of Russian roulette, there are guns and death, and in games that have specific drinks. There are many ways to go about it in a rule abiding way, but I think a lot of people will go with the gambling route, and if any of these games get on the front page, parents may think scratch isn't kid friendly. I do think that scratch is promoting gambling with this new studio, and other things that break community guidelines, but not on purpose.
