I am making a wild west Rogue-like where you are a cowboy shooting hordes of enemies. I have consumables in the game but they are alcohol and i can't find a way to replace them without sacrificing the theme and or an entire class of items. i feel like you can't really have a wild west game without alcohol. i just need some ideas.



also hell is a zone in the game and the devil is the final boss but i think that's not that bad to have.

it's probably okay if you don't state what it is or if you call it a different non-alcoholic drink (that could fit the theme), and the devil thing is also probably okay as long as it's not too violent (no blood, etc.) or scary

edit: tbh you could just call it “(effect if it gives one) drink” or just “drink” or even “beverage” & i don't think anyone would mind, it could be anything really if it's just “drink”. “drink” could be apple juice, etc. doesn't necessarily have to be alcohol

edit #2: or you could make up your own name for it, like it's a certain named drink from a certain place idk i'm just throwing out any ideas i've got lol

i don't know, does it say anywhere what it is, like any item titles? if not then i think it might be okay, but yeah you could replace it with a line, or just some other shapes if you think people still might be uncomfortable with that

Maybe replacing the alcohol with root beer and/or various sodas in glass mugs/bottles and mention that somewhere in the project for clarity, that could fit along the lines of what you want visually while still making it kid-friendly.

Maybe just name it “Apple juice” cause we don't want little kids seeing your project and then thinking “I should drink some beer!”

I'd just keep it but don't actually say that it's alcohol. Lots of kids don't even know what alcohol is, so they'd just think it's root beer or something.

Use Root Beer or something like that instead

Apple cider & Root beer in placement of real cider/beer
Grape & Cranberry juice in placement of wine
Tea/Syrup (?) in placement of bourbon (can’t say the actual thing for some reason?)

I did a pirate project where the pirates where drinking root beer instead of rum! Rootbeer can bring lots of laughs when its replacing beer.

-Strawberry juice
-Cherry juice

if you want true boring you can name it “mystery drink” or something
