Hello everyone, it’s been awhile. I thought it would be a good idea to clear some stuff up about Daredevil for those who didn’t understand. The ending sequence was supposed to have a final monologue, where Daredevil reflected on his past and what led up to where he is now, but I kinda had to rush it and didn’t include that, which probably made his character development more confusing. To clear stuff up for those who didn’t understand as much, here’s a not so brief explanation:
Matt Murdock – Character Development
Matthew has religious trauma from his childhood because his Catholic father would beat him and he always felt sinful and unworthy of God's love. When Stick offered him a better way of life he happily accepted, but soon discovered that his new life was just as cruel. Stick was his father-figure and the only person really keeping him there, so after he died Matt lost faith in the Hand. However, realistically, he was scared to garner the the strength to leave as he doesn't want to experience the fear of leaving behind another home he's made for himself. He's essentially trauma bonded to them. Once Stick dies, he makes one of the toughest decisions of his life after talking to a Catholic priest for the first time in years and leaves the Hand. He reconverts to Catholicism after desperately praying his thankfulness to God and asking him for forgiveness, and starts his non-killing rule. He names his alias Daredevil to strike fear in the hearts of his enemies, but also to symbolically represent that he is a devil on earth, and that there's all he can do now with his life is try to make other's lives better.
Frank Castle's words strike him to his core, because he knows Frank is right. Really it's the reason why he wears the suit, even. Because one bad day and he'll be just as much a cruel murderer as the people he fights. He has just as much hatred and rage built up in him as Castle, even though he doesn't want to admit it because unlike Castle, he hasn't snapped yet.
He finally snaps just like Castle when he fights him the second time, and wins. Symbolically becoming just as bad, if not worse, than him. To build upon this, Matt then defeats Nobu and takes control of the Hand, quite literally letting a demon enter his body. It's not even metaphorical or symbolic anymore. He then lets his ninjas kill Kingpin without a second thought. Matt knows the godly person he strived to be was never real. He is the wordy of the worst. But even though he’s the host of a demon, he’ll still try to make the world a better place.

I always find it a little weird when people are fans of superheroes in the Marvel and DC universes in the same way people are fans of superheroes in the real world. People are writing the equivalent of Pete Buttigieg fanfiction in the Marvel universe.

it's kinda like idolizing a baseball player if you think about it
