Save/export Scratch animation as video file

Searched using search term “video” but could not find any that indicates that a Scratch animation project can be saved in one of those video format such as .mov or .mp4 or .wmv especially video formats supported by Youtube

The nearest I could find was this
https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/topic/48977/
(posting a scratch project as a video elsewhere?}
where @DrComley remarked “Thanks for the suggestion to use a screen recorder. It would be a great feature to be able to turn scratch animations into videos. How can this idea be fed back to the development team?”

Don't know if anyone had already submitted such a suggestion here, but even if there is, let my suggestion to enable Scratch project to be saved or exported in a Youtube supported video file format be a supporting vote.

I think that screen recorders are really the way to go… although they sometimes require more effort to the timer, they are definitely worth it. Although this would be a nice feature, I believe it would take a ton of ST resources to make something special like this, which doesn't have to great of a usage (considering that a lot of the stuff on Scratch is creative commons and Youtube does not make it very easy to use copyrighted content). Especially due to it already being achievable. (If you'd like, check out one of the two picture links I have in my sig (after the website one that leads to a project). Those are done by me using just Scratch and a screen recorder for the audio visualizations.)

What free screen recorder that would only record the active panel and not the whole screen that you use/recommend?

Try bandicam, it's paid software, but the trial is good enough, and its pretty simple to crop out the watermark, just make sure the top of the recording area isn't on the project.

Price is $39 per PC, converted to our money is pretty expensive. You said trial copy? I only see DOWNLOAD 1 & DOWNLOAD 2,

Is the trial copy the software without buying license and it will work?

Never mind, found it
“If the product is not registered, the watermark will be shown at the top of the recorded video and the recording time will be limited.”

But still which one, Download 1 or Download 2 or both?

Also how does CamStudio compare with Bandicam?

The one that I use is called “Microsoft Expression Encoder 4”. It allows you to crop regions on your screen for capture, features a three second countdown, and the only drawback is that you cannot record over 10 minutes in one session.

There's also like bzzt chance of getting a virus from it considering that it's on microsoft's website, here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=18974 while you never know with third party screen recorders… especially with that “free” keyword at the start….

No annoying watermark as well!!

If you ever do have any money to throw around, I highly recommend Bandicam. It's easy to use, records well (some recorders mess up the colors) and can lock onto opengl windows (playing games) or even any windows, as you can lock onto the scratch player itself! (I recommend using a 480x360 screen capture size and aligning it with the game/animation IMO)

Downloaded Bandicam as recommended, had a quick look, initial impression is as you said, looks easy to use.

As to my question which to download, Download 1 or Download 2, figured it out, it is just 2 different source to download, I assume it would be the same software - Softonic or Bandisoft. I picked Bandisoft as impression is, that would be the software creator site???

I'm pretty sure my mum downloaded some adware from one of those sites.

If you go in file on the scratch editor, it says record project video. Click on that and follow the instructions and it will let you record the scratch project.
I only found about this a couple of days ago.
