CosmosEngine − seed-based procedural universe generator
ComsosEngine is a SpaceEngine-inspired procedural universe generator that I have restarted development on in June of 2026 after a 15-month hiatus. In the project, you can explore large universes with a million star systems each, and no two are alike (although how not alike they are varies a lot of course). The best part is that as of 1.2, all universes are seed-based, (think of world seeds in Minecraft), so you can put the same universe seed in and get the same universe and star systems every time.

An example planet from CosmosEngine 1.2 – A hot planet orbiting a B-type star with a thick Venusian atmosphere. Put the universe seed and planet ID in the project and find it for yourself!
The game is still under heavy development, and some parts of it may be unpolished, buggy, or clearly have room for improvement. However, I have big ambitions for it, and want to add things like moons, red giants, comets, alien seas, and maybe even procedural terrain and multiplayer in a shared humongous universe. So if you like CosmosEngine, consider following me as I will have status updates for the game, and of course following increases my motivation to continue development.
You can use this topic space to suggest features, report bugs, ask me questions about the project, or share your discoveries!
(If you are sharing a location, please include the universe seed, planet ID, and game version so that it can be found by other people. Versions before 1.2 do not have revisitable planets or star systems. Oh, also in the current version searching is pretty buggy and unreliable, but not 100% broken.)

CosmosEngine − seed-based procedural universe generator
Various things I've found in 1.2, all in seed 10900551:
(ID S-69-62-47) An O-type star with a planet that has surface temperatures over 1,000 Celsius, and another further out planet with an Earth-like atmosphere.
(ID S-69-59-64.6) A very small gas giant, 1.17 Earth masses and 1.15 Earth radii.
(ID 65-44-14) Kind of Solar System? A G-type star with 9 planets, first three are terrestrial and beyond that are four gas giants and one other, small terrestrial.
(ID S-69-16-60.10) The furthest planet in a 10-planet O-type system, orbiting 18,000 AU from its star. That's just over a quarter of a light-year! Also, when you get to system-rendering zoom, the orbit doesn't even fit on the screen, its just barely too big.

benCertainly. The next major update will focus on optimizations and restructuring of code.

Text in the next update has been reworked to be pen-based instead of clone-based, if you couldn't already tell by the pixelation.
This is one of many internal changes to be made in 1.3. I'll also rework things like object rendering and planet data storage to be more easily built upon in future updates, and in general, optimize code where I can in hopes that when I'm done, the block count will be decreased. So while the next major update might not add a lot of actual content, it will still be significant enough to warrant increasing the version number in the tenths place.

nice! so you can create like millions of universes with seeds… really interesting

1.3 is indeed closer to completion than to conception, but I kinda got distracted by another interest of mine and haven't been working on the project as much. I'll try to lock in tomorrow and get some good progress done.

Version 1.3 is out, mainly featuring optimizations and improvements so that I don't have to worry later. The next updates will actually be for features, additions to generations, QOL improvements, etc.
