Cloud variables are currently down.Yea it's the same here…. Cloud data seems to be down….
For some reason, some cloud checking projects still say that they are up, IDK if their back end tools are still checking them or not. Maybe another cloud test project is in order here.

I go by mine, it’s pretty simple.
Store a value of X in the project and 0 in the cloud.
If, when you check it, the value is X, cloud is down.

Cloud variable issues...
I'm actually curious “how” they go out… Is it user related, or server space related, or data overload?
Last time cloud data went out, it was constant up & down, up & down, up & down, etc. I imagined this was caused by the previous hackers who were forcing the cloud data to shut down in some form, or just really overloading the servers on popular cloud data projects..Is that still the case, or is this another “cloud data goes down for some unknown reason” scenario?

You need to rename your cloud variables in your projects for them to work. That's what I was told, anyway.. IDK why this is. but I think it's been that way since they've changed the color scheme to purple (if not sooner or later then).

Cloud variable issues...
Cloud variables in Scratch allow projects to store and share numeric data online so multiple users can see and update the same values in real time. They are often used for leaderboards, multiplayer games, and collaborative projects. However, at present, they are experiencing a platform-wide outage.
Example:
if <score > ☁ high score> then
set to (score)
end
Copier
Normally, this would update a global high score visible to all players, but due to the outage, updates will not be sent or received.
Currently, the Scratch cloud variable servers are down. Reports from the community indicate that the clouddata.scratch.mit.edu endpoint is not responding properly — while DNS resolves, requests result in timeouts or 504 gateway errors. This affects all projects using cloud variables, meaning multiplayer games, shared leaderboards, and any real-time shared data features will not function.
The Scratch Team is aware of the issue, but there is no confirmed timeline for restoration. Until the service is fixed, cloud variables will not update or sync between users. This is a server-side problem, so changes on your local project or device will not resolve it.
If you need functionality in the meantime, consider temporary workarounds such as:
Using local variables for single-player versions of your game.
Allowing players to manually share scores via comments or forms.
Designing offline modes that don’t rely on cloud data.
Once the servers are restored, existing cloud variable scripts should work without modification. Keep an eye on official Scratch announcements or forum updates for progress reports. Thanks for reading, have a great day!
