this usually happens due to wrong init scripts. Other languages would just refuse to run, but scratch likes to just do whatever to prevent a crash.

It’s a layering problem because of the unexpected order that green flag scripts are executed in a Scratch project.
Your intro/thumbnail script needs this change:

when @greenFlag clicked
go to [front v] layer
+go [backward v] (2) layers
show
