Seeing as Scratch 4.0 is in development, I was starting to get curious on if Scratch cat's design would change, seeing as Scratch 4.0 will try to be a little more modernized, I'm not sure if they'll make it try to be the same, or be an entirely different design. I was asking this since I've seen a pattern for whenever scratch does a major update to their website, it ends up changing Scratch cat, you can see that from the transition from Scratch 1.4 to 2.0, and 2.0 to 3.0, there could be a change when Scratch 4.0 does arrive.

It was found on schools.scratch.org which is the assumed site for ngp/4.0 testing stuff

you can punch in the website to the wayback machine and go to the URLs tab which has a good amount of images n stuff saved

this is an artstyle that has been used by @ScratchCat and its projects years by now, so it's not new i guess

however i doubt the default sprite in the editor will be changed in ngp, and also probably not in 4.0

I don't think this counts, pretty sure the post means within the editor, this scratch cat look has existed for a pretty long time

Personally I agree with this. The “leak” that was shared above is not really a new Scratch Cat design. One can check out the thumbnail for the Propose Projects to be Featured studio for another example (and this thumbnail was used since … I dunno … at least 2019?).

I don't expect the Scratch Cat sprite in the editor to be changed … but we have been surprised before.

I'd consider that to be a separate, but similar design (it has colored outlines).

I mean @ScratchCat's pfp, the Birthday Hat project from 2017, etc.

I agree with what CST1229 and Za-Chary said here. The changes to Scratch Cat in the updates have largely just been touchups in design, like the vector version in 2.0

I want the same cat for 4.0, the 3.0 cat is very cute

I like the new design! I hope they add more walk frames too.

i think maybe a more humanoid design, kinda like the griffpatch scratchcat sprite.

i dont think they're gonna change it, i mean it's been here since idk (i was never in 1.0 or 2.0, but i can confirm it's been here a long time thanks to mres' pinned project)

Scratch Cat originally had a bitmap design
It was vectorised in 2.0
3.0 tweaked it a bit
