Is Blood Strictly Prohibited on Scratch?

Hi there, my Scratch friend had a profile picture with slight blood in it, but now his icon was removed. That makes me curious: How much violence is allowed until it goes against the rules?

Obviously this is meant to be a children’s website, but I’ve seen old Warrior Cat games where the cats have claw marks or the bad guys get defeated.

Are you not allowed to display fighting/violence at all?

Blood is kind of a gray area on Scratch. It's one of those things that is really up to the moderator's discretion; as far as I know, there are no exact rules in place when it comes to blood, other than perhaps “If it looks like too much, then remove it.”

For this reason, I'd be hesitant in general about including any blood in content you share on Scratch. In some educational contexts it may be acceptable — for example, a biology project about the difference between red and white blood cells. Or perhaps when the project is not focused on violence and the blood amount is quite small — for example, an animation about the annoyances of getting a paper cut. So blood isn't strictly disallowed, but it depends on how it is used.

Blood can be for teaching. Not for violent projects.

Education is okay (eg. blood cells, showing how oxygen moves through blood)
If else no (eg. gore, horror)
