Agreed. I often participate in competitions and it’s lovely to have a clean profile with decent projects.
NFE projects still show up on profile pages, but it would be a good addition to NFE if they were hidden from profile pages unless you made them your featured project or linked them there. Obviously they should still appear in Shared Projects, because they should still be findable, but it would benefit the ST making projects NFE because the reasons a project should be hidden from the search also apply to profile pages, and people setting their projects as NFE would be able to hide projects from their profile without having to unshare and reshare over a dozen other projects to bump them onto their profile page. This would also benefit students who make lame projects for class assignments who'd rather showcase their better work.

Teachers should also be able to set their students' projects to NFE so that they can limit student interaction with the community if they want to.

A hide from search would be nice. It should be separate from NFE though, and should be flagged for review by the scratch team.

Hide from search doesn't seem necessary, since the indexer is broken anyway.

It does work annually sometimes, so this would be nice to have an option to prevent your project from being indexed.

Although, how would this work if you enabled Hide from Search after it was already indexed? Would it un-index it, or have separate code to hide it?

No, I was talking about the OWNER of the project using NFE so people cant search it up to make copies. Its hard to copy something you cant find.

I admit this mentality of not wanting to see exact copies is selfish, but its something we can relate to.
Making it.. harder to find? In that context? I do think thou must be exaggerating! I for one, do not usually find projects through the search or remixes. I find them on profiles whilst profile scrolling or investigating. [insert explanation of others doing the same that I had said before]. The difficulty change is not significant enough to rid your problem.

And.. something else: The thought itself of not wanting to see exact copies is not selfish, t'would be rule-abiding. Contributing to the community, and ridding of those projects shall keep this rule-abiding. However, this suggestion focuses on simply contributing to yourself, ignoring crime and taking away rat's bait so they can invade elsewhere. We, are a community.. and we must "Help keep Scratch a welcoming, supportive, and creative space for all by following these Community Guidelines".

(However, I am still neutral since the change isnt that big)

also them wanting to hide it from searching so people don't remix goes against this

Remixing is when you build upon someone else’s projects, code, ideas, images, or anything else they share on Scratch to make your own unique creation.

Remixing is a great way to collaborate and connect with other Scratchers. You are encouraged to use anything you find on Scratch in your own creations, as long as you provide credit to everyone whose work you used and make a meaningful change to it. And when you share something on Scratch, you are giving permission to all Scratchers to use your work in their creations, too.

I admit the indexer is slow and unreliable, but it always gets there in the end. Better to have a choice not to have it indexed at all.

Technically, it doesnt as you can still remix when you get there in the end. Theres no hard barrier or stop sign.

Immediately un-index it. If you turn NFE on, it immediately un-indexes it, but if you turn FE on, the indexer will take its time as it normally does.

What if we renamed it to Contains Advanced Topics?
It abbreviates to CAT

(It doesn't really take other stuff into account but I thought it would be funny lol)

Support though, I would say the pros outweigh the cons (mostly) here

Because the indexer is slow and unreliable, most people dont depend on it. Im not talking about the NFE ‘not working’ or something, im talking about how clumsy the search is, and that not many people use it for exploring projects.

missed opportunity to italicize/bold the Embrace

Also it may be against the CG, but not against the TOS.. Although, the CG contains the rules ST values for their site.

Thy should not be added directly to NFE if this is added. Instead, it should be a separate toggle from NFE. T'would have more flexibility.

Its slow and clumsy enough to not be used, but not so slow that it doesnt get there in the end. When your turn to be indexed eventually comes, you should be able to do something about it - slow indexer doesnt mean no indexer.

T'would not be my point

the indexer works, but its so unreliable that most people (who know about these things) dont really rely on it. Im not talking about the NFE ‘not working’ or something, im talking about how clumsy the search is, and that not many people use it for exploring projects.

You even support what I say in thy posts. The indexer works, but not enough to be something reliable or popular to use.

And therefore, the difference between NFE and FE is little. hath you forgotten my claim (although opinions are worthless, they can provide clarity when used right)?

What difference does this make? afaik NFE only hides projects from search and remix pages. Considering the state search is in rn, I doubt that most people always use search. And even with search, it mostly shows the more popular of the projects unless you typed the full project title. As for me, 99% of the projects I view are not from search, I usually see things from What's happening, studios, people's profiles, etc and I'm sure there are many who do the same.

Out of curiosity, could this particular method be abused so you could set an obviously NFE project as “for everyone”? My suggestion allows the admin to override “For Everyone” but not “Not For Everyone”. Yours doesnt.

I admit there isnt much of a difference, but THERE STILL IS. Im sure the supporters want the element of choice to NOT have searchable projects - so to clarify, NFE projects cannot show up on the front page (privacy! - includes Whats happening), the Explore page (Which im sure at least one of you uses), remix trees and searches. Im sure I dont want my projects to appear in the explore page and I should be able to decide, as you can too.

As for @IloveRoblox003, while I have supported some of your points, this should not be mistaken for supporting every argument you make. NFE and FE have no impact until the indexer arrives (Its slow, not broken nor nonexistent), but once it does, well…

You do not counter my point(s).

My point is that the indexer is too unreliable to be used.
It is not about NFE or FE.
It is about search bar usage.
It is about search bar usage.
It is about search bar usage and how projects are (mainly) found.

(and my claim is that NFE and FE have little difference, but, as the points support the claim, t'would be unnecessary to resurface it)

The Search bar makes little difference, but it DOES make some. Yeah, its not the main avenue BUT it is one. You CAN find projects through it, and I want to stop these. Blocking the other avenues is a different suggestion that I shall not make here because of “no suggestion lists”.

Saying it makes no difference is a bit like saying a hole in a bucket makes no difference - it does not look significant. Spoiler alert: It is, even if most of the water doesnt go out through the hole.

I have gone out of topic, but I hope you get the point. Slow+Unreliable ≠ Nonexistent/Insignificant

Absolutes are required. What are you going to do when that oh-so-slow-it-moves-one-project-a-year indexer indexes your project so you can search it comes if you do not want it to be searched? Even having ONE person who searches it up is undesirable.

If you still dont get the point, try replacing “Scratch projects” with “Nuclear Launch codes” and “Scratch” with “Instagram”.

I guess maybe the difference with the existing NFE tag is that, if a Scratch Team member sets a project as NFE, that guarantees that a Scratch Team member has already seen the project and decided that it's not completely inappropriate for the Scratch website?
why can't a st member check the project after it set to NFE, to check if its appropriate, the same way they check reports?

My point is about search bar usage.

Community usage.
Not general usage.

In other words, to clear your confusion of my points, Slow+unreliable = Few people use it = Few people (also including the few that view remix pages) affected = NFE toggle doesnt affect project visibility that much
