Animated Text is an extension the Scratch Lab are beta testing with. Lots of Scratchers have been highly requesting it to come to Scratch. To me, it looks like as it is completed, so I don't know why it's still in development.
But rumours have been going around that it will come to Scratch 4.0 (the Scratch Team are currently working on the NGP) - a next generation of Scratch.
It could be possible, but still it is not 100% guaranteed.
What can it do? you might be asking. It can display text, make it a different font, and play animations as well.
I am also highly requesting this extension and continuously saying to myself:

“Will it ever come?”

You can access it on lab.scratch.mit.edu and beta test it yourself.

Well, I suppose that the prediction for Scratch 4.0 is 2027 so maybe the extension will come in 2027/2028.
