Does the project have extremely long sounds or have A LOT of assets?
If you have long sounds, then cut them into multiple.
If you have a lot of assets, then either compress or delete some or all costumes.

Make sure you don't have absurdly long lists. I had a project that would never save and it took a long time to realise it was because my lists had thousands of items.

Can you try doing thisWhat operating system are you using?iPadOS 26
1. Download the project if you haven't already
2. Convert the project from .sb3 to .zip by renaming the file and changing the .sb3 part with .zip. You might have to show file extensions to do so, if possible on iOS/iPadOS 26, like you would on a computer.
3. Unzip the file or at least view the files in the zip
4. Make sure that each asset (costume/backdrop or sound) is at most 10MB and that the project.json file is at most 5MB
If it doesn't let you do this on iOS, you might want to use a computer
