My browser / operating system: Windows NT 10.0, Chrome 147.0.0.0, No Flash versions detected

I'm aware others have reported this already, but I'm going to give as much info as possible to help people figure out why this is happening. So many users, including me, have been struggling to comment or create/edit projects lately. This issue personally started for me about 4-5 days ago, however as far as I'm aware people have been experiencing this since last week. This is a serious issue, because the main reasons users are on Scratch is to create projects or post comments. Here is all I know about it from my experience:

1. This is likely an IP or VPN issue.
2. This is not a specific account issue.
3. Studio and projects comments are completely disabled. When profile comments are posted, they just turn into a string of random letters, symbols and numbers, and the sender's username turns into either random letters, symbols and numbers or DevNull.
4. A user with the username DevNull keeps appearing whenever profile comments are posted. I find the username oddly familiar for some reason, I'm unaware why.
5. This is very likely not a device issue.
6. For some odd reason not everyone is affected by this glitch, just specific users. Reason is unknown.
7. This has started happening since about last week.

Why don't I think this is a device issue?
I tried to see if this was just a device issue by logging into my account on multiple different devices, including my laptop, phone, and sibling's iPad. I couldn't post comments on any of them. Along with that, other users have also reported that it won't work on any of their devices, either.

Why is this likely not a specific account issue?
By specific account issue, I mean the problem isn't just affecting specific accounts but working on alts. I've tried going on multiple different alts, they've all had the same problem. Others have said the same thing too. These alts also all have different emails, so that rules out a problem with the email.

Why is this likely an IP or VPN issue?
I saw some people say that the issue resolved for them by using a VPN/turning off their VPN, so I tried it out myself. I originally wasn't using a VPN, so I got one, and sure enough I could comment and create projects again! Until today. About an hour ago it just… stopped working? By that I mean the VPN was working fine, but the glitch came back and I couldn't post comments or create projects again.

I checked to see if the VPN was faulty, but it was working fine. I tried disconnecting from the VPN, restarting my device, trying another device, disconnecting and reconnecting to the VPN, changing my VPN server - none of it worked. It was so sudden, too? Again, I am 100% sure the VPN isn't faulty. The weird thing is that some users have said that they had to turn off their VPN for the glitch to go away, whereas some people had to get a VPN.

The VPN isn't stopping the glitch for me anymore, and the glitch is still there even after disconnecting. I'm unsure what to do now. Would also like to add that for some reason it won't let me log in when I have the VPN on, but I can log in fine with it off. Not sure if that's useful info at all, but thought I'd share.

What do I mean by profile comments turning into a string of letters?
I took a screenshot of it, as you can see below. When the page is reloaded, the comment disappears. The original comment a user was going to post turns into a string of letters, numbers and symbols. Sometimes (but not always) it goes beyond the 500 character limit. Their username also either turns into random letters, numbers and symbols or turns into the username DevNull. The profile picture changes to the default blue Scratch Cat pfp, and for some reason it always has the Scratch Membership frame around it. Even if the username is a string of letters/numbers/symbols and not DevNull, if you click the profile picture it brings you to DevNull's profile.



What do I mean when I say comments are completely disabled in studios and projects?
I don't mean that the comments literally look to be turned off when they're not, whenever I try to post a comment I just get the “Oops! Something went wrong posting your comment” message. It isn't the issue where it lags and posts anyway, but only appears when you reload - as soon as the ‘Post’ button is pressed that message pops up. No matter how many times post is pressed, that message always just comes up.



So, what do I think the issue is?
Honestly, I'm unsure. I don't know much about tech, or IPs, or VPNs. I'm hoping the Scratch Team sees this and tries to do something about it or explains the reason this is happening, as it doesn't seem like they've done much to fix this bug.

That's all the info I have, I'll update this if I discover any other info regarding the glitch. It would be great if you could bump this so more users see, or contact the Scratch Team about this.

Hmm. I haven't had problems like this before, although one time I was using Tor, and since people probably ddos scratch with tor, pretty much all features were IP-banned. Have you tried using like a hotspot to see if it's a wifi issue?

Happening to me as well.
It's definitely a proxy issue.

In our experience, VPNs have been exclusively used to abuse the Scratch/circumvent moderation. Maybe don't use a VPN?

BTW, we also try to block TOR for this exact reason and have done so since before 2015.

Yeah, people have been saying that this stops happening when turning off their VPNs. However, I've also seen people state that they don't have a VPN and this is still happening

I can comment now, im on holiday and we took my WiFi router with us and i can comment, i think its something to do with where you are

this was happening to me last night and i have no vpn, went to sleep (so therefore no location change) and woke up with it fixed. really not sure about how it works lol
