Explore page is acting weird. Does anybody know what is going on?

As a matter of fact…

Yes, the explore pages, where you haven't typed in any search term, will be curated, we are also removing trending/popular from there because we need to spend time on what we call Next Gen Platform, which will be a better starting point for making more changes to the explore system to avoid trending/popular being gamed with inappropriate projects, and allowing for the return of a safer trending/popular.

:D I've wanted them to feature old projects again just because there were still so many cool projects XD

I hate the new trending page. They're limiting it to people they think are good, instead of letting the algorithm help.
On the upside, there's a higher chance of actual quality projects being chosen instead of a plague of generic performers and low effort stuff

Hmm, this page seems to show the most popular projects of all time based on views, not sure if this is a temporary solution or not. It's just a search page with nothing in the query.
Hmm, weird finding. Switching it to trending (explore page like) via GUI doesn't work, though. (searches for ?mode=trending)
But trending does work as long as you use https://scratch.mit.edu/search/projects?mode=trending&q=
Seems to be much better than the one now.

I recommend to tell people to use those!

(ALSO, I CAN SEE SOME PROJECTS FROM EVERY SINGLE EXPLORE PAGE UPDATE BEFORE THE NOW DOWNGRADED EXPLORE PAGE UPDATE!!!! :O ASSORTED THO.)

I think it is working the opposite!
Mostly outdated/not great projects from like 2014 and stuff.
Not saying all of the scratch 2 or 3 projects on it are bad, but some of them are.

I would say its acting both ways.

Also it has been doing the same thing with scratch 2 projects ever since it started.

I noticed that too, it's more similar to the old explore page.

Yeah, so much better, as it isn't cluttered with random projects, usually from 2014.
