This feels like a joke, hence I won’t say my opinion on this.
The last line especially sells it because “it won’t be pushed back because nobody will give their id”
Not to mention persona is in fact, not trusted. It is in a lawsuit and was recently exposed.

doesn't an id literally have a face on itNope! I never mentioned face verification. An additional unintended effect is that the feature will receive low pushback from the community as users who oppose ID verification cannot post on Scratch, therefore making this a safe and non-controversial addition to Scratch.i think this speaks for itself
This is rejected.

please come back to the forums ONLY after you learnt how to make good suggestions

This is literally 1984. This will endanger children if some creep finds the way into Scratch's VERY INSECURE DATABASE, and now he knows where to find the 5 year old who went “you stinky”.Re-read the suggestion again. Notice where I suggested the ID to be stored.
It also gatekeeps the platform and removes anonymity, which if you haven't noticed, is the whole perk of the internet.

This feels like a joke, hence I won’t say my opinion on this.My posts are indeed not troll posts. This is a legitimate suggestion that many governments, apps, and websites are suggesting to keep everyone safe on an internet filled with strangers. Approximately 2,300 to 2,400 cybercrime complaints are reported daily in the U.S. alone, and over 859,000 complaints filed in 2024, resulting in over $16 billion in losses, according to the FBI Internet Crime Report. You think that Scratch is safe from these criminals?
The last line especially sells it because “it won’t be pushed back because nobody will give their id”

In order to reduce bullying, harassment, and hate that happens daily on Scratch, we need to implement ID verification for publishing on Scratch. This means that any type of user generated content will be posted by a someone who is verified by ID (Passport, DL, etc). They can just verify then continue bullying. It's like putting a face mask that has zippers on the eyes, yeah they can't see but then they can unzip the eyes and see again.
If the user indicated that they are an adult during sign up, they will have to submit a picture of their own ID.Not bad.
If the user indicated that they are a child during sign up, their parent will have to submit the ID picture for them.
With everyone who posts being ID verified, they will know that whatever they post can be traced back to them, which will lead to users thinking twice before posting a hateful comment.Doesn't this break COPPA laws?
Also, this comes with the added benefit of stopping people who circumvent bans, which increases platform safety and keeps banned people out of Scratch.Who is this stopping?
The actual ID will be sent to Persona, which is a ID verification solution trusted by Square, LinkedIn, OpenAI, Etsy, Lyft, and Reddit.Reddit… ah yes the perfect place for discussion and trusted ID verification… also its under a lawsuit
An additional unintended effect is that the feature will receive low pushback from the community as users who oppose ID verification cannot post on Scratch, therefore making this a safe and non-controversial addition to Scratch.Ah you've finally said something decent except for the last part in bold.

Could maybe understand the comment part (though it's still dumb)
but sharing projects?????
"Imagine, program, share"
this should be rejected for the same reason turning off remixes is

This has to be either a joke or ragebait. The first post is worded in such a way that it feels sarcastic.

also the sentence
“An additional unintended effect is that the feature will receive low pushback from the community as users who oppose ID verification cannot post on Scratch, therefore making this a safe and non-controversial addition to Scratch.”
genuinely sounds like you are evil. considering that everybody hates id verification, the entire website would become barren. there would be thousands of unused accounts

Even if this is a joke, it's not funny. Negative support. It's not even worth talking to who suggested this.

Not all accounts are personal accounts. Student's also use Scratch for school. Many student's wouldn't want to be forced to give their ID to the internet just so they can do their schoolwork. This is a major breach of privacy.
Also btw, not everyone even has an ID. There's around 850 million people global who don't have an ID.
Also how is this gonna work for shared family accounts? (specifically ones that pertain to immediate family members such as sisters but non-family accounts are disallowed)

-1 because: WHAT ID!? Just what ID for what!
QuickEdit: Also, OpenAi for trusting stuff? AI makes Mistakes sometimes, and it might make critical issues caused by some minor hiccup!
QuickEdit 2: Also bumping @Scungilio64's image:
