Hello y'all! welcome to the hosting team <3 So far, our hosting team consists of me ( @LovegoodLady ), Chuey ( @ChueyTheCat ), Mabel ( @cinammcnx ) and Ivory ( @_click_ ).
Our projects last session consisted of team sorting and workshops <3 What do y'all think we should take away and/or add?
We also need a theme for this session… any ideas?
And lastly, do you have any other ideas or questions for ©lasc?
I'm so happy to have you here and get to know you throughout our hosting experience <3
Apologies for the… informality of this. I haven't quite gotten the hang of introductory posts yet xD

yayyy!!! hi everyone im so excited to be here <33 and no worries about the formal part of this stuff.. i get you :sob:
opinions on workshops, team sorting, etc.
im not too familar with this camp because i very vaguely remember last session. however, i did enjoy writing a couple workshops, and i read over a couple other ones to help me too! do we plan to re-write workshops or keep the old ones? (i think keeping the old ones would be fine, but we can also get maybe another couple ones to have a different opinion/view on things, plus more if there happens to be new questions ^^)
i think we should encourage more critiques through the app critique hub or whatever its called so that more people can have different opinions on their apps instead of just rely on the people participating in this camp. (even tho most people who critique participate, some people don't and i think thats something we should acknowledge)
theme
oooh this is soo fun!!! i honestly dont have any specific ideas since im bad at coming up with these kind of things that are actually cool and unique lol.. however, i do think having something with characters (like last session) would be really cool!!!
we could do like a fairy tale (or fairy taleS) or some sort of childhood show/movie/story characters?? or make up our own characters and have them as mascots for the session?? lol
other ideas
it would be cool to have like tips of the day (or every other day or every other x days or whatever lol) for people to double-check their app and look at very nit-picky, small things that some people might notice and the writer might not
we could also incorporate some other projects like app theme ideas, past applications (co leader and leader!) campers can reference (by asking to creators of them, of course)
i hope i didnt go rambling on for too long haha but hopefully this all makes sense! im super excited for this <3

hiiii i wasn't here for the last session but i'm excited to be on the team!
not sure how long the camp lasts but maybe we could have different days/periods dedicated to each question on the app and better improving them, sort of like swc dailies

Okay! Hi y'all <3
activities
considering we have new questions, I would say we need some new ones <3 and if we have extra people, then we could rewrite the newer ones! last session we made a list of people who might be able to write workshops fairly early on, so I'll start thinking about that as well!
and yes I definitely think we should encourage critiques <3 perhaps we can have a ‘critique day’ a bit like a low-key version of cabin wars?? it can't be too stressful though because it is app season after all.
teams should probably be based on the theme, so let's get to that in a bit <3
theme
aaa this is one of my favorite parts <3 battle of the fairy tales could be fun! like we could have a Goldilocks team and a Red Riding Hood team (each with their own adorable mascots) or a Cinderella team and a Beauty and the Beast team! we typically have the number of teams match the number of hosts as well <3 I'm actually not sure if we want teams this time though, as they didn't seem to have a very big impact on things last time.
some other ideas to throw out there are dragons, hunger games, moths, and hamilton (definitely didn't steal these from actual swc theme speculating yesterday)!
other stuff
i love the tips of the day idea <3 and yes some references would be awesome! I'm definitely the type of applyer who stalks other people's apps to prepare xD as for your idea, ivory, I suggested that last session, but cat and kiara brought up a good point: most people like going on their own schedule with these types of things, and they definitely don't like being rushed. but maybe specific days where you can spend more time looking over those answers and specific days where you can critique other people's <3
I also think we should perhaps have a help line project where people can ask questions they have about making their apps, anything from ‘is australia capitalized?’ to ‘should I put my cabin ideas in even though i’m only applying for co?' and any people can go and answer them!
if we want to do teams, I think teams should earn points for stuff like critiques, finishing answers or art, or helping other people! and definitely for sharing their apps xD
on another note, we might want to wait for chuey to get here before we get too deep into planning. also, starrii has offered to help out with anything we need <3
also mabel be as rambly as you want hehe <3 all the better ;D

Hey everyone! Sorry it took me so long to put in an appearance lol. Anyways, I will likely give everything another read-through just to be sure I have it down but the main things we need right now are theme, activities, and other essential elements, correct?
Theme
OOH FAIRYTALES idk if you guys have noticed or not but I kind of have a thing for fairytales haha… I love the idea of Goldilocks and Red Riding Hood!
Activities/other stuff
I don't think I was here/involved last session so idk what the regular stuff y'all do is — anyone mind giving me the rundown?
Apologies for the short and mostly unhelpful post lol I just wanted to announce my presence XD

fairy tales sounds great!
i like the help line idea, i'd be open to managing that if you want
maybe critique day could be once a week so there are multiple days?

sorry I have a more detailed thingy here <3
theme + teams
if we're going to do teams, I suggest we make one based off a fairy tale each or split up into two teams as a whole. probably a common fairy tale but if you want to do something more out of the ordinary go ahead ;D I think then everyone would make a studio and thumbnail to go with it (or one person could make all the thumbs), and people could claim points for critiques, answering a question in the help line, finishing a question, finishing a piece of art, finishing some code, doing a good bit of graphic design, or giving someone moral support! the vibes probably wouldn't be too competitive though because it is app season as everyone's stressed already
we'd all probably do the main cabin thumb as a collaborative effort I assume?
if we're not doing teams, we could just do the main cabin thumb and not the teams <3
activity run-down for chuey
a lot of these things we haven't done before, but I have an explanation for the ones we have and a brainstorm for the ones we haven't <3
help line
so! this one seems fairly simple: we put up a project titled ‘help line’ that people can comment on with their questions (anything from simple grammar to questions about entire paragraphs), and people with answers can reply (and possibly gain points for their team)!
workshops
this one is where experienced leaders write ‘workshops’ (a bit like normal SWC ones) on different aspects of an app, from theme to specific questions, and we compile them in a project for appliers.
team sorting
basically like swc signups except instead of cabins it's teams
we would put an equal-ish amount of experienced and inexperienced people in all the teams!
tips of the day
just a little nitpicky suggestion for your app per day, not directed towards anything!
critique ‘wars’
like cabin wars but y'all are competing to see how many critiques you can get done!
and yeah that's it

also for the thumb my idea, since I (and possibly others) can't do c@nva collaboratively, was for us each to draw a fairy tale character (if we're doing teams, then one that belongs to our team's story), and then if one or two people feel more comfortable designing they can incorporate the art into a thumbnail and the rest of us can critique it or add to it (if everyone's doing art or not working on it than someone with extra time can design it)! let me know if their are any issues or anyone feels uncomfortable with this <3 and not everyone has to work on the thumb if they don't have time/don't want to

ooh i dont think it should be competitive, just so it doesn't take away for the whole point of the camp - to make applications, not to like earn points and win for your cabin. not just the stressful part but we want people to remember its about actually writing & improving your app - however a bit of light competition is fine! if we go with teams we def shouldn't heavily encourage it, so people can feel free to work at their own pace ^^ and i love the fairy tale theme!
unfortunately i dont think i have time to work on thumbnails + don't feel comfortable with a shared canva. (also i cannot draw people for the life of me haha)

I agree <3 and no worries i'm sure that'll work itself out! I think with that in mind perhaps we shouldn't do teams. what do the rest of y'all think?
oh! and my friend brought up the idea for motivation buddies– more experienced campers with newer ones! we could turn team sorting into buddy sorting easily, and it would probably be really helpful

i think we could combine buddy sorting and teams! we don't need competitive teams but splitting people up would personally be easier for me, i'm thinking back to wcg's
also just letting you know that ap season is mixed with camp season

hi y'all! app season has officially begun and I'd like to ask if any of you would like to create the studio <3 I can't get uncronchy thumbs on my computer so I would love it one of y'all could (temporarily if needed) be the studio host! since we don't have a thumb yet though no stress if no one would like to at the moment <3

i'd rather not host the studio tbh, i'm busy with aps and college stuff, but i am still happy to make the help line
as for motivation buddies, in theory it sounds great, i'm just not sure how to qualify someone as more/less experienced. for instance i'm only in my second year of swc but i do feel like i've gained a lot of experience so i'm just not sure how we'd measure that

i feel like if someone feels qualified to be a more experienced buddy, we should still let them do it even if they haven't co-led that much. i'd say if you've been in swc at all for more than 3 sessions, even as a camper, and made at least one app (even if you didn't get chosen) you could be a buddy

that actually makes a ton of sense for the ‘if they feel worthy’ thing!
i'm not entirely sure that 3 sessions in total and at least one app would work though… I feel like it would have to be at least one or two chosen apps? because like I fit all of those criteria but definitely don't feel experienced, and I think most people would feel the same way <3 it could work though, so i'm up for whatever works!

we can say 2+ apps but sometimes people still feel experienced in how they edit their apps each session, even if they aren't chosen (and people will often get chosen multiple times anyway) so i don't think we should base it off of being chosen but rather the confidence in making and editing an app
