Scratch AI
“Hello,
I want to tell you something we haven't shared widely yet.
We're building the next generation of Scratch.
It's called Scratch 4.0, and it features something we call Creative AI — a set of tools designed to help every kid create. Not by doing the work for them, but by meeting them where they are: through conversation and inspiration.
Imagine a child who has an idea for a game but doesn't know where to start. In Scratch 4.0, they'll have a creative assistant that listens, asks questions, and helps them build it step by step, while their agency and imagination lead the way.
I'm telling you this because you're part of the Scratch community. Your child creates on this platform. You've trusted us with their curiosity, their screen time, and most of all, their sense of what's possible.
I want to be honest with you: building this costs real money.
Scratch is free for every child on Earth. We're an independent nonprofit, and everything we build is funded by people like you who believe in what we're doing.
Right now, we're asking families to become Scratch Members. An annual membership is $50 — less than a dollar a week — and 100% of what you give goes directly to building, maintaining, and growing Scratch for the future.”
This is the email I got from Scratch; also, I unsubscribed, and it still sends me emails??? Um, I don't know what direction Scratch is going towards, but AI is not “creative”.
