only lock student accounts that are inactive for 2 or 3+ years (not sure if active student accounts are getting locked)

so from a comment on my chatroom, it said:
“ALL STUNDENT ACCOUNTS ARE BEING LOCKED”
so if they are all being locked, can ST reduce the account-locking wave to only people who are inactive for 2 or 3+ years?

??
Where did they get this info from?
If they're talking abt student acc's locking after the class ends, that's been a thing for a LONG time…
The reminder thing on the front page is a reminder about something that already happens

Student accounts are intended to be temporary:
Student accounts on Scratch are designed and intended to be used in a classroom or educational setting. Student accounts are temporary. When your class ends, or your teacher is no longer active on Scratch, student accounts are automatically closed, which means you lose access to your account and projects. Because of this, if you would like to continue using Scratch outside of your classroom, we would encourage you to work with your parents or guardians to create your own, standard Scratch account. You can create a new account here. If you’re currently using a student account and have projects you’d like to keep after your class has ended, we recommend that you remix or save copies of them in your standard Scratch account.

Wait so if the last time my school account's teacher was active was ever since December 2022.. How long do I have until my account goes?

I could but there is only one problem.. I don't know how to make a new scratch account. Now Now.. Don't laugh at ME but.. I could do almost everything but I just cannot do the email part. They say yes you may need to have help with a parent or guardian but I don't want to let them know I am using Scratch. I have a really big series/novel to continue making it's just I need to make sure I don't lose my account. I don't want my parents to know that I'm using Scratch because of personal reasons..

Not to be rude but.. I've gone into that site like 100+ times but seriously, it barely helps me when it just says ‘'We would encourage you to work with your parents or guardians to create your own, standard Scratch account.’' the problem is ,''They say yes you may need to have help with a parent or guardian but I don't want to let them know I am using Scratch. I have a really big series/novel to continue making it's just I need to make sure I don't lose my account. In the post I responded to, you ask these questions:
If my account does go.. Would people still be able to see the projects I made? Or those go away just like my account does?
The link I provided states:
Accounts are closed, not deleted, so any shared projects will still be publicly visible, and you can remix those shared projects using a standard Scratch account at any time.

Nah that's fine tbh.. But it would be sad cuz I won't get to talk to others in scratch anymore. No need to remix edit: Oh.. I see the quote now. Sorry, I was rushing through that site ..

One more question.. it says ‘'or your teacher is no longer active on Scratch’' on https://mitscratch.freshdesk.com/en/support/solutions/articles/4000228128-can-i-use-my-student-account-after-my-class-has-ended- so I'm wondering, how long does the teacher need to be inactive until it is clear the the class has officially ended? cuz the last time she was active was like.. December 2022 like I said before

From my reading of that, if your class has ended, it is safe to assume your account could close at any time.

this isn't a new thing, they lock all student accounts the moment the class is ended

sometimes the teacher doesn't close the class so all accounts stay open, this is my situation and my class was 7 years ago. The teacher decided not to close it. but as far as teacher inactivity goes I'm also waiting to see where that one goes. Mine's been inactive for about 3 years.

I'm actually trying to suggest a feature
that would convert a student account, but I'll probably make a new account anyway just to be safe.

Just 3 years? Would I have time to finish a novel by the end of this year, 2026? The last time my class/teacher was active was around December 2022..
