DS Line and GB Line Cartridge Bootlegs and Verification Thread

Here, you can send DS Line (3DS, DS, and DSi) and GB Line (GB, GBC, and GBA) games to be verified before you return them or buy them, or if you're verifying them because you're curious. Just send images of the carts here through cubeupload or another image host compatible with Scratch or by sending a Scratch project with the images.
Extension: You can also showcase funny bootlegs or bootlegs of the cartridges.
Rules
  1. Make sure to send all of the images (including the front and back of the cart). This will allow people to actually see everything in the carts that you're verifying and determine whether or not the listing is potentially a scam. If the seller does not provide these, please ask them first.
  2. Don't send the links to the actual listings here bc I'm not sure if that's allowed on Scratch
  3. Do not verify using AI. It can spread false information (e.g. stating that a real game is fake and vice-versa), and may be based on outdated information.

Work in Progress
The code on the back should start with the second to last part of the code on the front. For instance, if the front code is “NTR-IPGE-USA,” which corresponds to a USA version of SoulSilver, the second to last part of the code would be “IPGE,” so the code on the back (e.g. “IPGE” + a bunch of characters) should start with “IPGE.” Some fakes even have codes that don't actually exist for any DS game. This also applies to 3DS games. Note that this should not be the only verification for a fake because many fakes replicate this.

Things that should not be used to verify a game in any case:
The top seam thing (where you look at the top of the cartridge and see if there's a “visible rectangle”) should not be used to verify games as real or fake. I've seen fake games that have the top seam, and I even have games that I know are real that don't have it.
NTR-031
Work in Progress
Pokemon HeartGold, Pokemon SoulSilver, Pokemon Black, Pokemon White, Pokemon Black 2, Pokemon White 2, Personal Trainer:Walking/Walk With Me: Do You Know Your Walking Routine?, and Active Health should be NTR-031 games. If you see any that have say “NTR-005” on the back, then they are fake. Note that some fakes do replicate this.
3DS
Work in Progress
The front code on a 3DS cartridge that isn't a prototype one should have the one of the following

LNA-{CTR or KTR}-{ABCD}-{region}

ABCD identifies the actual game. CTR is used for Nintendo 3DS games, while KTR is used for New Nintendo 3DS.

NEWS
There are now fake 3DS casings on the market. There may be fake or relabeled 3DS carts, so make sure to check when buying.

DS NTR-031 fakes of Pokemon games now use the PCB codes of real games. Please look for other features when verifying these games.

Fake Hall of Shame
A place for obvious AI-generated fakes/images of carts and fake cartridges! If you have any more fakes to add, then pls let me know and I can add it here
Just mention that you're trying to add it to the hall of shame, as opposed to verifying the carts

Same seller has two other listings that are pretty much the same btw

I doubt people are going on Scratch to verify DS games but you do you I suppose.

Honestly fakes are only really an issue with Pokemon, and often they're quite easy to tell anyways.

Not saying other games can't be faked, it's just wayyy fewer compared to Pokemon.

Yea I'm aware, though fakes are actually getting really good for DS and 3DS and I often see people believing that their fake games are authentic, people thinking that games are fake for reasons like not having the top seam thing (I have real games and some don't have it while others do), or people trying to verify these really close looking fakes
Edit: Also, if someone doesn't have much experience or hasn't really seen a DS/3DS game before, they might not know how to tell

True, though, fake 3DS games? I didn't even know they existed.

They're now doing the relabeling thing (which people might not know how to look out for), and they're starting to make fake casings now, so there's a possibility that they'll be able to make fake games. There's a possibility that they might not even work right now though
This thread is also for guides too lol
Edit: “As of February 2026, actual counterfeits of the Nintendo 3DS cartridges are becoming more common. Once thought ‘safe’ from counterfeits, this is no longer the case. We are aware of faked PCB's, anad once we have them on our person, a new section will be drafted”

I guess swapping the stickers has always been possible, though at this point physical game collecting for the 3DS isn't so much novel anymore since modding the systems has become so widespread. I feel like most games will remain unaffected anyways.

This is meant to be for physical game cartridges, not digital games if that's what you're talking about.

If it's a physical game cart that you're trying to verify, then you can send the images here.

There's other stuff too now though :/
I was planning on making a GBA/GBC/GB one too in a separate thread, and people often buy carts for that though :/

Yeah I buy GBA games pretty often, though it's at least much easier to tell a fake apart.
